@@Morgru Mages have glintstones that are essentially their souls. They can inplant this to other living beings to ressurect. The doll likely has Ranni's glintstone. But since it is not a living vessel, it requires extra magic, which explains why Ranni must rest long periods time to time.

You know, this ending is essentially your character achieving what everyone in the game deemed impossible,a tarnished not only finding a maiden of their own but a wife and queen, becoming a lord of the cosmos transcending and upending everything. And above all else, finding happiness among the stars no longer alone. Best ending by far, nothing can change my mind on this.
well...it seems up to interpretation. But it seems like the ending is you restore death and get rid of the nature of immortality that exists in the world. Renna basically corrects the world but you and her die in the process (shes is just a soul in a doll and you are dead man resurrected by the power of the elden ring which now is nonexistent). If you don't wish to kill her and die yourself then maybe not the best ending.
@@danielchilds8327 magic and supernatural phenomenas stills exist in the new age, so she may have a plan for you and her both. Maybe both of you reborn in a new body at the start of the new age to truly "live", maybe both of you die but through her power, both of you reincarnate and fated to meet each others, love each others, again and again until the end of the age of stars(this is romantic as fuck, I doubt this happen 😅), anything could happen, it's up to you.
King's Field: Run up the back of the dragon and hopefully get the Moonlight Greatsword... If not, you'll get it when you kill the dragon, but then what fun is that?
What some people seem to miss is that Ranni's body is sat on the corpse of a three fingers, covered in blood. She fought and killed what's basically a god by herself in a frail puppet body...and won.
It’s a two fingers, not a three fingers. Three fingers are entities that control the frenzied flame, which burns erdtrees. If you meet a three fingers, you unlock an alternate ending where you destroy the Elden ring and burn the entire lands between in order to begin anew. Essentially “Noah’s flood” but with fire instead of water. Then Melina becomes a Black Knife and tries to kill you.
What happens in her ending is that she takes Marika’s place, while you become her Elden Lord (consort), but she does not want to rule the Lands Between, so both of you leave the place on an 1000 year journey
What she means is that you and her will be taken from the planet, no outer gods will meddle with the people on the planet, everyone is free to do what they want and make their own choices. Also, the honeymoon is too short. It needs to be like 5000.
@@cainabel6356 The "1000-year voyage into fear/darkness/the unknown" is merely a metaphor for the Age of the Stars, and it refers to everyone in the lands between, not just the two of you. The gods not being able to meddle in the affairs of mortals is pretty big part of it, and I presume that means having someone there (you) to punch them if the Greater Will tries anything funny. I mean, you wouldn't be much of a "lord" if you fucked off into space, haha.

Dude at the beginning basically tells you that you are maidenless amd thus you will never get the elden ring. Apparently your character took that shit personally because he got a maiden, got the elden ring and then proceeds to get married because fuck that one guy
And our options are 1. A cracked doll with 4 arms 2. A chick that burns herself to kill a tree. 3. A god that's been passed around the block several times and is crumbling apart.
The silence as the knight neels before Renna really empathizes the love and emotion he has for her. It is a really touching scene; it was all worth it for him to have Renna, his ladyfriend, become his wife. There is so much emotion in this one scene. Courtship at it's best.

i believe the fear and doubt is the fact that everyone is entering a new age unknown to them, otherwise they should fear either the flame of the 3 fingers that ends all or the age of corruption that keeps twisting everything, and that would be much worse

It also plays similar out to a good ol' Greek tragedy. Yes, they will go together to the lonely stars, but before that, her childhood friend lost his mind (well, made a realization that he rather would not want to have) and you had to kill him.
ngl it kinda mostly has to do with her questline being the most involved and largely encompassing the entire playthrough. But I understand, the need for puppet gash is strong and I've felt it. LOL
To be fair, it's actually the easiest alternate ending to get since it very directly points you to the chain of events you need to beat, unlike most of the other endings that have some absurd criterias and severe lack of directions for where to go and what to do.

You don't become king, Ranni kicks out all the gods from the world of mortals in this ending, this includes herself that's why she wanted to do this alone : she didn't think anyone would accept to basically stay trapped on the moon with her forever.

I love the touch at the end you wore Blaidd's armor. It's like at the end you're honoring your brother-in-law by wearing his armor to the final battle and ensuring his last sacrifice was meaningful.
Didn’t realize what putting the ring on actually meant. Just thought “oh it is just a ring, they have special effects in all the souls game”. Then she called me her lord and I was kinda confused. Then After grabbing the moonlight great sword, I decided to read the description to see what the justification for its existence is in this game. It said something to the effect that carina royals gave it as a gift to their spouses and that’s when I realized I accidentally married a doll possessed by a demigod.
For a game with "Ring" in it's title and the developers along with Martins history behind it , a pleasant marriage was probably the last thing you expected. ٩(●ᴗ●)۶

ranni's questline is really good, get a bunch of good shit, good bossfights and a lot more characters that you can interact with, makes for a better ending and better first playthrough imo.

The darkness is the unknown, a lack of the divine light of faith, and the cold is the loneliness of no longer being part of a fatalistic cycle, the warmth of the embrace and control of gods. True freedom, no more fate, no more divinity. Just people, alone, grasping into the unknown to make their own destinies.

Such a great character man. She’s still sinister, like most of the other demigods, but she also has ideals and ambitions that she truly believes will be beneficial for everybody, not just herself. Whether those have merit, is up to the player to decide.
I love the line better "Let us go together, my dear consort eternal" than the other line "Well then, shall we? My fair consort eternal" The change indicated a subtlety of intimacy. You can only get the first line if you exhausted all her dialogues, which means that you really went out of your way to spend more time with Ranni. Not to sound like a simp, but the inclusion of romantic themes in a Soulsborne game is a breath of fresh air, that in the general bleakness of the game that is expected from Fromsoft, where it's easy to feel small and anxious, having the opportunity to have an ending that makes you feel less alone makes a lot of difference of the gaming experience.

I got this ending for my first play through (still on it rn) and I honestly teared up slightly. Ranni is best, especially for giving you the best weapon in all of souls.
The scene with the ring was so well made, you who just went thru hell to get there and she; who is exhausted and immobile after what seems to be a gruesome ordeal, slaying her two fingers, accepting the ring she never wanted to use, admitting that this stubborn tarnish don't mind spending the next 1000 years with you in the dark. Just so hopelessly romantic, something we don't get to see a lot in fromsoft's games.
I’m such a sucker for this type of romantic storyline (overcoming a doomed fate through love and partnership, not necessarily between 4 armed space dolls and nonverbal warriors lol). I never would have guessed that I’d get that storyline in a FromSoft game, but it was oh so satisfying to experience. Definitely my cannon play through

This ending is considered "fanon" canon in the eyes of fans and I can see why. It's a beautiful ending and you proved everyone wrong in the end through your efforts.
According to one of the definitions of "Canon", the fans most commonly accepted theories are Canon. So if 80% of the fans call this Canon, by definition, it is. Regardless of the devs comments.

That's not what the ending means, there is no perpetual darkness. It's just that Ranni separates the world of mortals from that of the gods. The night that she mentions is the removal of the golden order from the world of men so that mortals become free without the presence of physical gods to influence them. She explains it in her dialogue after her quest

I don’t know…hurling the world into a cold, dark night full “fear, doubt, and loneliness” overseen by a moon with a gaping eternal void in the center doesn’t seem like a happy ending. Nor is it exactly clear what it all entails. Honestly, I think this is the ending where you bring about the rise of a dark lord.
It always baffles me that there is a good bit of people that hate Ranni. I personally never get why. A. She isn't an angel, and doesn't pretend to be one, but she is hardly some demon. Can you fault her for that since your character is hardly an angel yourself? How many corpses did you make to get where the game ends? And not even remotely is all those death's deserved. B. People say she is the reason Godwyn is dead, I don't think so. She stole the rune of death so SHE could die. You find out if you look into the black knife assassins they aren't under her control. She more likely hired them, nothing more. Them killing Godwyn was unrelated to her. Also the fact they actually are hunting Ranni's group, case in point look at Iji's death. Also if I recall, I think there is dead assassins near Blaidd when you go to put him out of his mistery. Clearly they aren't working for her if they are trying to kill them. C. I know this can show up a lot, but look at her reactions. When you meet her in Ranni's Rise, she is shocked you are there. A lot of people say she is manipulating you, but you have and always were a wild card from basically moment one. She NEVER expected to see you again, much less become integral to her fate coming true. If anything, she seemed wary you found her again since you could be a threat, remember, by this point in the game, you generally will have 2 great runes, something literally unheard of. Not even the powerful Malenia has 2. Going off C still, you go past what she expects time and time again. You and Blaidd go underground trying to find a way to get to Nokrom, but you are the one that pulls it off, you find out about Radahn, kill him, Blaidd even straight up tells you YOU were the reason he fell, even if Blaidd helped, he knows he wasn't the major reason for it. And solely go to Nokrom and get the sword, without basically any idea of what you were exactly looking for. Even when she rewards you and says you are free to go and was happy with what you did. You again break expectations since ONLY YOU kept trying to move forward, even Iji and Blaidd were content to be like this is on Ranni now. You find Ranni again, much to her embarrassment since I personally think mini Ranni is her real body which houses her soul, aka her most vulnerable. Notice she doesn't ask to be put down or....just fade away like she has in her human sized form? But she feels safe in your hands and honestly, she isn't wrong, by this stage you have 3 runes, you are easily becoming the strongest being at this stage, the thought of facing god which seemed like an idle fancy is not only becoming possible, but also very likely. D. We have no idea if Ranni could have even taken out the Baleful Shadow. Ranni is very often sure of herself and knows her strength/limits and even she admits it was beyond what she was expecting. She tries to say goodbye again thinking this will be the last time she sees anyone again and even says she loves Iji and Blaidd, and if you read what she says, she says it to you too. She admits you are in the same group as those two which she loves and trusts with her life, to the point she tries to backtrack since she is embarrassed she becomes aware of what she is saying, almost sounding like a confession even. E. You once again do the impossible, you find the use for her key, find her wedding ring, take out a damn space monster which very well could have been another outer god pawn. You take the dragon guarding her tower, which was guarding where she was out, and find and marry her. If you listen to how she talks, you can get a hint of disbelief in her tone. She is literally blown away you have legit gone above and beyond, even those that knew her her entire life. And here you are putting a wedding ring on her. Again, remember, you were an unknown, a possible massive threat, at this stage there wasn't any doubt you would fail to become Elden Lord, it wasn't so much as "Go the path many have taken of becoming the Elden Lord" as it was "Finish your task of becoming Elden Lord so we can be reunited" and you outright proposed to her. She had NO intentions of marrying, her ring even says such. Ranni is such a well written character in my eyes since you can see the progression in her story. You can easily skip by it all and not really see much. Or even not meet her to begin with and nothing happens. But if you sit there and listen, you can see how her view of you went from someone serving her, to someone she loves. And not like she did with Iji and Blaidd which she saw as family, She loved you as her spouse. I think deep down, Ranni didn't want to be lonely but didn't think anyone else could follow her on her path due to how dangerous it was. Your character comes in and not only shows they could follow, they spearheaded her entire path and quite literally opened the gates to the heavens FOR HER. You not only granted her wish on how to fix things, but also her unspoken wish of not being alone and I like to think she is extremely grateful and happy about that.

But It’s also homage to any great work of warriorship, any great warriors basically. Anime and real life. Numerous references to books and quotes by famous authors. Ichigo’s zangetsu unreleased and released. Both with their own sword art getsuga tenshou. Light and dark. Darth maul’s twin saber. Game of thrones sword. Some of the enemies backgrounds represent real conquerors. And there’s also several commentary only Easter eggs to other things.
I think this is the best ending. instead of keeping the reign of Marika alive past it's due date, you renew the world with a new goddess and Elden Lord. It was also the ending I got my first time. Ranni is best girl.
Fun fact: This ending implies she kills the Greater Will with the Fingerslayer knife you retrieve for her. In the cave under the cathedral the Two Finger entity has the half centipede carving of death on the majority of its body. Since the Frenzied Flame manifests as and or utilizes a Fingers entity as a host. This individual Two Fingers likely was the host of the Greater Will.
Not true. Every Empyrian has it's own Two Fingers, Ranni had to kill hers to become free from Greater Will control. After killing the Elden Beast, you free the world from the last entity of him, and replace with another Outer God, the Dark Moon. And this new Outer God seems to be less interested on controlling peoples life/fate.
@@josetravassos4342 If my understanding is correct, she essentially frees the world from control from anyone, no Gods, no masters to control the will of the people. Mortals are free to choose their own fates, for good or ill, it's all a roll of the dice.

There’s a secret ending in which you get a great tune that has the power to restore the elden ring and bring true balance, it’s called the age of order ending but you have to complete all major side quests to get it including getting the flame of frenzy and then curing it with miquellas needle
Ingame there are as much as 6 endings or more. But from Playstation aspect there are only 3 that give achievements. The elden lord. Which fia’s, gold mask’s, dung eater, and normal ending all are considered “elden lord” endings. The only ones that are different are the “frenzied flame” and “Among the age of the stars”
Interesting that she uses the term “consort” rather than spouse. Reason being that consort typically involves some sort of high political marriage that would result in a monarchy. And that she uses eternal may mean the age of the stars would last forever maybe?
Basically Ranni replaces Marika as a God, and you become the new equivalent of Elden Lord I think, since the Elden Lords were consorts of Marika anyway.

You know, this ending is essentially your character achieving what everyone in the game deemed impossible,a tarnished not only finding a maiden of their own but a wife and queen, becoming a lord of the cosmos transcending and upending everything. And above all else, finding happiness among the stars no longer alone. Best ending by far, nothing can change my mind on this.

well...it seems up to interpretation. But it seems like the ending is you restore death and get rid of the nature of immortality that exists in the world. Renna basically corrects the world but you and her die in the process (shes is just a soul in a doll and you are dead man resurrected by the power of the elden ring which now is nonexistent). If you don't wish to kill her and die yourself then maybe not the best ending.
This is my preferred ending. Look how restless things became.

What some people seem to miss is that Ranni's body is sat on the corpse of a three fingers, covered in blood. She fought and killed what's basically a god by herself in a frail puppet body...and won.

If you meet a three fingers, you unlock an alternate ending where you destroy the Elden ring and burn the entire lands between in order to begin anew. Essentially “Noah’s flood” but with fire instead of water. Then Melina becomes a Black Knife and tries to kill you.

The silence as the knight neels before Renna really empathizes the love and emotion he has for her. It is a really touching scene; it was all worth it for him to have Renna, his ladyfriend, become his wife. There is so much emotion in this one scene. Courtship at it's best.

To be fair, it's actually the easiest alternate ending to get since it very directly points you to the chain of events you need to beat, unlike most of the other endings that have some absurd criterias and severe lack of directions for where to go and what to do.

Didn’t realize what putting the ring on actually meant. Just thought “oh it is just a ring, they have special effects in all the souls game”. Then she called me her lord and I was kinda confused.
Then After grabbing the moonlight great sword, I decided to read the description to see what the justification for its existence is in this game. The change indicated a subtlety of intimacy. You can only get the first line if you exhausted all her dialogues, which means that you really went out of your way to spend more time with Ranni.
Not to sound like a simp, but the inclusion of romantic themes in a Soulsborne game is a breath of fresh air, that in the general bleakness of the game that is expected from Fromsoft, where it's easy to feel small and anxious, having the opportunity to have an ending that makes you feel less alone makes a lot of difference of the gaming experience.

Just so hopelessly romantic, something we don't get to see a lot in fromsoft's games.

That's not what the ending means, there is no perpetual darkness. It's just that Ranni separates the world of mortals from that of the gods. The night that she mentions is the removal of the golden order from the world of men so that mortals become free without the presence of physical gods to influence them. She explains it in her dialogue after her quest

I don’t know…hurling the world into a cold, dark night full “fear, doubt, and loneliness” overseen by a moon with a gaping eternal void in the center doesn’t seem like a happy ending. Nor is it exactly clear what it all entails. Honestly, I think this is the ending where you bring about the rise of a dark lord.

Next: Elden Ring 2: The Maidens' Collector
It always baffles me that there is a good bit of people that hate Ranni. I personally never get why.
A. She isn't an angel, and doesn't pretend to be one, but she is hardly some demon. Can you fault her for that since your character is hardly an angel yourself? How many corpses did you make to get where the game ends? And not even remotely is all those death's deserved.
B. People say she is the reason Godwyn is dead, I don't think so. She stole the rune of death so SHE could die. You find out if you look into the black knife assassins they aren't under her control. She more likely hired them, nothing more. Them killing Godwyn was unrelated to her. Also the fact they actually are hunting Ranni's group, case in point look at Iji's death. Also if I recall, I think there is dead assassins near Blaidd when you go to put him out of his mistery. Clearly they aren't working for her if they are trying to kill them.
C. I know this can show up a lot, but look at her reactions. When you meet her in Ranni's Rise, she is shocked you are there. A lot of people say she is manipulating you, but you have and always were a wild card from basically moment one. She NEVER expected to see you again, much less become integral to her fate coming true. If anything, she seemed wary you found her again since you could be a threat, remember, by this point in the game, you generally will have 2 great runes, something literally unheard of. Not even the powerful Malenia has 2.
Going off C still, you go past what she expects time and time again. You and Blaidd go underground trying to find a way to get to Nokrom, but you are the one that pulls it off, you find out about Radahn, kill him, Blaidd even straight up tells you YOU were the reason he fell, even if Blaidd helped, he knows he wasn't the major reason for it. And solely go to Nokrom and get the sword, without basically any idea of what you were exactly looking for.
Even when she rewards you and says you are free to go and was happy with what you did. You again break expectations since ONLY YOU kept trying to move forward, even Iji and Blaidd were content to be like this is on Ranni now. You find Ranni again, much to her embarrassment since I personally think mini Ranni is her real body which houses her soul, aka her most vulnerable. Notice she doesn't ask to be put down or....just fade away like she has in her human sized form? But she feels safe in your hands and honestly, she isn't wrong, by this stage you have 3 runes, you are easily becoming the strongest being at this stage, the thought of facing god which seemed like an idle fancy is not only becoming possible, but also very likely.
D. We have no idea if Ranni could have even taken out the Baleful Shadow. Ranni is very often sure of herself and knows her strength/limits and even she admits it was beyond what she was expecting. She tries to say goodbye again thinking this will be the last time she sees anyone again and even says she loves Iji and Blaidd, and if you read what she says, she says it to you too. She admits you are in the same group as those two which she loves and trusts with her life, to the point she tries to backtrack since she is embarrassed she becomes aware of what she is saying, almost sounding like a confession even.
E. You once again do the impossible, you find the use for her key, find her wedding ring, take out a damn space monster which very well could have been another outer god pawn. You take the dragon guarding her tower, which was guarding where she was out, and find and marry her. If you listen to how she talks, you can get a hint of disbelief in her tone. She is literally blown away you have legit gone above and beyond, even those that knew her her entire life. And here you are putting a wedding ring on her. Again, remember, you were an unknown, a possible massive threat, at this stage there wasn't any doubt you would fail to become Elden Lord, it wasn't so much as "Go the path many have taken of becoming the Elden Lord" as it was "Finish your task of becoming Elden Lord so we can be reunited" and you outright proposed to her. She had NO intentions of marrying, her ring even says such.
Ranni is such a well written character in my eyes since you can see the progression in her story. You can easily skip by it all and not really see much. Or even not meet her to begin with and nothing happens. But if you sit there and listen, you can see how her view of you went from someone serving her, to someone she loves. And not like she did with Iji and Blaidd which she saw as family, She loved you as her spouse. I think deep down, Ranni didn't want to be lonely but didn't think anyone else could follow her on her path due to how dangerous it was. Your character comes in and not only shows they could follow, they spearheaded her entire path and quite literally opened the gates to the heavens FOR HER. You not only granted her wish on how to fix things, but also her unspoken wish of not being alone and I like to think she is extremely grateful and happy about that.

But It’s also homage to any great work of warriorship, any great warriors basically. Anime and real life. Numerous references to books and quotes by famous authors. Ichigo’s zangetsu unreleased and released. Both with their own sword art getsuga tenshou. Light and dark. Darth maul’s twin saber. Game of thrones sword. Some of the enemies backgrounds represent real conquerors. And there’s also several commentary only Easter eggs to other things.

I think this is the best ending. instead of keeping the reign of Marika alive past it's due date, you renew the world with a new goddess and Elden Lord.
It was also the ending I got my first time. Ranni is best girl.

Fun fact: This ending implies she kills the Greater Will with the Fingerslayer knife you retrieve for her. In the cave under the cathedral the Two Finger entity has the half centipede carving of death on the majority of its body. Since the Frenzied Flame manifests as and or utilizes a Fingers entity as a host. This individual Two Fingers likely was the host of the Greater Will.

Elden Beast is a Vassal (Servant) of the Greater Will not a Vessel. It likely was created way before the Tarnished threatened the power balance.
Not true. Every Empyrian has it's own Two Fingers, Ranni had to kill hers to become free from Greater Will control. After killing the Elden Beast, you free the world from the last entity of him, and replace with another Outer God, the Dark Moon. And this new Outer God seems to be less interested on controlling peoples life/fate.

There’s a secret ending in which you get a great tune that has the power to restore the elden ring and bring true balance, it’s called the age of order ending but you have to complete all major side quests to get it including getting the flame of frenzy and then curing it with miquellas needle
Age Absolute, not Age of Order. Age of Order is caused by completing Goldmask's quest, that's it.

Ingame there are as much as 6 endings or more. But from Playstation aspect there are only 3 that give achievements. The elden lord. Which fia’s, gold mask’s, dung eater, and normal ending all are considered “elden lord” endings. The only ones that are different are the “frenzied flame” and “Among the age of the stars”

Basically Ranni replaces Marika as a God, and you become the new equivalent of Elden Lord I think, since the Elden Lords were consorts of Marika anyway.
its more like that seems to be the term used to refer to a mortal and a gods realtionship apparently becoming a god makes one unable to be seen or interact with anyone but the "consort".
the witch diffinetly sees it as a true marriage though as the description of the moon light greatsword says it was only given to 'SPOUSES" as a gift.
