I found Caria just by wandering around, never got directed there by the sorcerer character. Did find it before Radahn though, but then I explored Liurnia before I went into hogwarts.
I pretty much did it in the right order. as i played blind i remember starting to get really paranoid when they killed Iji, i was like "they are getting to us one by one...its only a matter of time until a squad of black knife assassins ambush me." ... XD
Blaidd's story is truly tragic. The fact that you get to know him and become comrades in arms with him only to then have to kill him when he goes mad. Cry a lot indeed.
And the first-person shots, when the Tarnished just blocked, still shocked that Blaidd, best friend Blaidd, attacks with frenzy. This hurts. Beautifully.
Also loved the use of _Luna Insidiosa_ as the music - oddly fitting, as Blaidd and -you- the Tarnished are essentially puppets of a ''Moon Presence'' of sorts, fighting each other at that point.

"Since there falls no shadow where there shines no sun, Ranni leaves her shadow behind." Vaati always has a way with words but this, this just hit so hard
I appreciate that the lore-accurate player armor is used for the most popular questline. I literally don't know anyone who didn't do Ranni's ending for their first run.
I'm actually planning the age of order ending for the first playthrough because it makes the most sense to my character, RP wise. But I have to say this is one of my favourite endings by far.
The Ranni ending is the one in which, humanity is left godless. Left to evolve and live a "chaotic" life.. but unbound from deities. They are left to look and pray at the stars, but choose their own path. Lawless and Chaotic, they lost the Greater Will but gain the Free Will. One could say, this is what preceded our own times. This is something that can connect/immerse the game with our own reality. Transforming the events from story to legend. Truly most beautiful ending among them all.
“Chaos” isn’t a bad thing like most people seem to think. It is simply a concept. And as Heath Ledger Joker once said: “you know the thing about Chaos? Its fair”. Ranni gave people of the Lands Between complete freedom. Freedom of control of the outer gods. Freedom from a new world order. They are completely free in every sense. It is up to the people to decide the life they want to live and the fate they want to create.
The first person POV when he reaches for Ranni 😭 Blaidd's story is probably one of the most soul crushing in Fromsoft history. He never even learned why he got locked in the Evergaol, why Ranni wasn't at the tower when he got there, why he got attacked by black knife assassins, or that his whole purpose in life got snatched from him by some wandering Tarnished. He died confused, struggling with his own sanity, and heartbroken, which I feel like you can really see when he looks to the sky in disbelief when he dies.
If it's any consolation to his story, I doubt he would have complained much at his fate, so long as Ranni accomplished her own mission. It's the one bright spot in the end for him. There aren't many happy endings for Fromsoft NPCs, I'm afraid.
Having played the Dlc it’s truly awesome how many parallels Miquilla has with Ranni and how similar their paths are. Both had to sacrifice a great deal and both had to do some very questionable things to reach their goals. When Iji calls the empyreans path dark he’s isn’t just being poetic, in a way it makes alot of sense, if you want to become a god, you have to sacrifice everything that makes you mortal.
And at the same time, their ultimate visions for the world are diametrically opposed. Ranni dreams of an age of freedom, whatever the result of that freedom might be. That's why she refers to her Order as a Cold and Dark Future, there is no way to know what will happen once all influence of the Gods is removed from the world and we leave alongside it. But the people of the Lands Between will finally be TRULY free. Meanwhile, Miquella would bring an age of peace and love... At the cost of everyone's free will. Dreams, aspirations, principles, feelings, all crushed under the weight of the Golden Yoke that is Miquella's charm. It's an age of warmth and certainty, but also an age of absolute slavery, not only of the body, but also the mind soul body and hearth. Ultimately, I'd side with Ranni every time. What is the point of living the way Miquella envisions. I also can't forgive what he did to Malenia, Mogh and Ultimately Radahn and all his other followers, it's sickening that he would so callously take away the free will from her own followers and family.
@@axios4702 you have to remember that given how much Miqulla sacrificed of himself it’s kinda hard to say he has any of his own free will left over. He gave up every aspect of what made him who he is. Everything from his love to his fear and doubt. So even if he wanted to turn back and undo what he was doing, did he really have that choice? Did he give himself that choice? It’s like St. Trina says, “Godhood would be Miqullas prison”.
@@axios4702 and as for Radahn Melania and Mogh, I don’t trust Ainsbach, he served Mogh and did so, so exceptionally that he was high ranking and is as far as we know the only one of Moghs entourage who is confirmed to have been charmed by Miqulla moreover is he doesn’t tell you that Miqulla charmed Mogh, he just assumes that Mogh is charmed by Miqulla given his obsession with him and on top of that he waits until Miqulla divests himself of his great rune to tell you this. There’s no point and it doesn’t make sense for a being who can strip the free will of others to be deceptive. Especially when he is trying to accept all the wrong doing his lineage within the land of shadow. So I don’t see why people are so keen on trusting a man who was whole heartedly behind Moghs age of cursed blood. As for Melania and Radhan, he didn’t charm either of them despite what many want to say, if he could charm Melania then he could have easily just charmed Radahn from the very beginning but the lore indicated it was a mutual agreement/vow between Miqulla and Radhan to both become god and lord. Melania was a loyal sibling through and through and was entirely devoted to Miqullas cause, so much so that upon Radahn forgetting his vow to Miqulla during the events of the shattering wars, he sent Melania to remind Radahn of his vow, this is why at the peak of their battle she whispers something into Radahns ear, “Oh promised consort, Miqulla awaits thee.” Now as to what age Miqulla would bring forward, it’s hard to say it would be one of slavery as the lore doesn’t indicate anything like that, in fact we see first hand Miqulla breaking his own charming over others allowing them to decide for themselves how to proceed. I think that’s a bit of a reach especially given that there’s plenty of people he didn’t charm to reach this point, namely us, but also Radahn and Melania, hell even Messmer. Not only that but he would be effectively making the same mistake as his mother and I don’t think a demigod as wise as Miqulla would be so blind as to not recognize this fact. It’s just that given his determination to make right her wrongs he gave up parts of himself that he shouldn’t have. Things like doubt and fear and love to make him consider if the actions he is taking are really the correct ones. Ultimately he is only doing what he is doing because of Marikas mistakes and wrong doings. And I don’t think a lot of people really take that fact in and just push it aside to make him seem more malevolent when he isn’t.
@@azazelsiad3601 The only reason Miquella sacrificed all that is because he is the worst kind of evil, the one that doesn't realize it is. Miquella, because he grew up being able to brainwash almost anybody, doesn't understand what's so bad about taking away people's free will, and at no point did he sacrifice his own free will. He consciously chose to leave Trina and any notion that maybe this wasn't a good idea behind, magic shenanigans aside, that's just flowery speech for "f*ck it we ball". As Morgott would say, he is consumed by the flame of ambition, an ambition to put the entirety of the world under his charm, that is nightmarish and it's something he decided before sacrificing any part of himself, so sorry if I don't really care what his nicest half has to say about his fate.
@@axios4702Yeah, by discarding what love he had - an undoubtedly profound and wide love, for both family and strangers - by throwing Trina down a ravine, he doomed himself to fall as well, into tyranny instead of a swamp. But because his intentions were good, he deserves something. He deserves being stopped, for his sake if not that of the world, and to receive some manner of forgiveness. That, is why the one closest to him, more than even Malenia his blade and twin, asks us to kill him, and free the world of the plague he became.

@@kaiserdetectivegolden2735, I didn’t watch a video for “accurate lore”, I watched it for the storytelling skills, I couldn’t care less about wether any of it is right, it would have no impact on my life.
Using Gehrman’s theme for the Blaidd fight was so unexpected and amazing. The connection between the moon, feelings of melancholy, and former friends betraying each other but not of their own choosing; Vaati you know your shit so well and are so talented. Also you probably had an evil smirk when thinking of that idea because emotional pain… prepare to cry indeed
I know right!? The change in perspective was really jarring/shocking at first, but man you -really- feel the intensity of the fight. Kinda makes you wanna try playing the game from that perspective!
8:56 "Of course, we don't know the circumstances of Darriwil's traitorous acts..." According to the official manga, he and Blaidd had a disagreement which outfit looked cuter on the Ranni doll. Blaidd preferred the Snow Witch outfit, and Darriwil a maid outfit. No, I am not kidding.
It's crazy the amount of forethought you have to put in to get this kind of game footage. The angles, the times of day you choose, the close ups, and the slow motion. This is the kind of content people will watch years later. Years from now, even if From Software disbands, these videos will still be here to remind of us of the charm and mystery their games evoked when we first booted them up.
Poor Blaidd… The Half-Wolf Warrior who, due to the circumstances of his creation, cannot follow Ranni to the end of her quest. But it’s because of those very same circumstances that he was able to assist her in the first place. And even in the throughs of madness, moments before his death, his loyalty is still absolute. Truly one of the most tragic figures in a FromSoft game.
Having the option of every questline at the end, even having quelled the frenzied flame within, I chose this ending, as it was the most befitting quest I feel.
@@Sonofhroft You're right. I was thinking more about all the optional Blaidd stuff within the main vein, but you are right, it is one of the major endings.
For a long time i considered it the best boss fight in the game. It is epic, huge and cinematic. After my third playthrough thoug i felt for Renalla's fight. The buildup of her being broken and the creepy first phase into her standing tall as a powerful sorceress queen gets me so hard
@@HumbertoHernandez It's just the ending that makes the most sense to do for all of those reasons. It has romance, meaningful characters, and doing something that feels more right than the rest of the endings. It's a whimsical ending as well.
@@nanajosh More thoughtful ending compared to the generic become elden lord and sit in a chair. Those endings are just as bad as SMTV. The only other good ending for Elden Ring is the "bad" Frenzied Flame ending.
Ranni carved her body to be beautiful, and we the players made ourselves into horrifying abominations that can't tell the difference between turtles and dogs. It's a match made in heaven.
Blaidd's ultimate fate is such a true tragedy in story writing. Tears are, like the moon, inevitable. Well done Vaati and the team, well done. Edit: Thank you for the likes! Love this community!
After Blaidd's death, I wore his armor in his memory. He was one of the only characters who felt like he could have been great friends with my character.
Atleast Alexander dies a warriors death, its all he wanted and he got it. Blaidd dies confused and heartbroken having his entire purpose stolen from him.
Not all deaths need to be sad. Alexander was a warrior, through and through, and there is nothing that matters more to a warrior than a warriors death, death by combat. Only when they have been bested can they truly die in peace
Well, what happens if you just let Blaidd live up by the Three Sisters? Does he interfere with Ranni’s plan? And does Iji effectively outlive the story of the game, since Blaidd’s death triggers his own demise? I’m genuinely curious as I have that option before me right now.
That moment when the familiar tone of Gherman's theme played, the feeling of fighting a good friend to the death, gave me goosebumps. 😭 This is a masterpiece.😭
Now all we need as a knife-twist is to have Blaidd and Sif side by side, standing together. ...That would actually be an epic poster. 'Brothers in loss'
Vaati, Mispap and Crew are the only rare few Content Creators capable of turning Souls like disconnected storytelling into a flowing work of Cinema Gold. I swear how they manage to suck me into this video is masterful
The use of Gherman’s theme for the fight between Blaid and the Tarnished is beautiful and appreciated. The aftermath of the fight though is truly what hit me the hardest though, hearing Iji’s words and seeing the Tarnished sit down with his head hung as he sobs, that broke my heart, this video is well done!
31:30 The fake out when Alexander thought it was all over also I love how gave the tarnished personality and stoicism, but could be a goofball at the same time
The 1st person views the music in the videos and the way you do this all yourselves to make it look and feel like you’re apart of the game in these videos is truly mind blowing and an attribute to what regular people can do. Not trying to make it seems like you all aren’t amazing bad ass in every way but I’m just blown away with the attention to detail on every aspect of these videos. TRULY AMAZING AND INSPIRATIONAL

@@kibblenackle431 The way the quest ends hurts me most 😢And Ranni telling you about her relationship with Blaidd and Iji makes you realize she cared about them (not so shallow) I will still prefer to have them alive and Ranni being happy on the stars.
Everyone who worked on this, those first four minutes were absolutely PHENOMENAL. That was absolutely amazing, from the art, animation, and Vaati’s expert narration. BRAVO
I love how this animation turns Ranni's motivations from an ideological struggle to a _personal_ one. This monstrous _thing_ has been trying to use her bloodline to make her into its puppet. When she finally killed it, she liberated herself from her lifelong abusive oppressor.
@@leyrua look I know Ranni does have good motivations But If any of the Gods are the good guys here It was the kiddo trying to grow his own tree that accepted EVERYONE Before he got kidnapped by his half-brother, leading to his tree rotting I really don't think Ranni is as Good or as Benevolent as people make her out to be She and her siblings are all partly responsible for the state of the world And her ending isn't really her trying to fix it, it's just her leaving after removing the ability for the Outer Gods to mess around with the lands between She fixes nothing else besides that
@@quinnholloway5400 I agree with you except for one nitpick. She stated (somewhat vaguely) that the reason she left was to avoid _becoming_ the thing that she had just defeated. She kicked out all other contenders, laid down the law for her new order, and then voluntarily went into exile so that even _she_ (as the new monarch) could not meddle in mortal affairs. I think the "thousand year journey" she mentioned may have been a reference to the concept that each era comes to an end eventually, so she can really only grant people freedom until her own age comes to an end (but I'm not certain of that). But yeah, I like Miquella best. His journey is the most intriguing. A brilliant mind. That said, Miquella is pretty heavily implied to have bewitched people's minds to make them cooperate with him, so... yeah... 😬
@@leyrua Fair enough, but with how the Lands Between are like There's no telling how people will react or how much her Order will acutally keep people from abusing power Especially as even in her ending, it's likely people will still worship other forms of belief, the Greater Will after all isn't strictly good or evil So people will still attempt to worship it even with Ranni's order in the way Also i don't always like chatting about that because it somewhat implies he charmed Mohg and let his tree die on purpose, which makes no Damm sense
Not gonna lie, I sobbed for poor Blaidd... Rani was his everything, his reason for existing, and he became anathema to her and was abandoned. I can't imagine the pain and the dismay in his final moments. The way you portrayed this entire leg of the story was absolutely breathtaking. The visuals have to be the most beautiful of any video so far. Enormous respect to everyone who took part, and enormous thanks to you for making this condensed experience of such a tremendously sad, but also promising end, a thing we could enjoy.
I don’t think he was sad because ranni abandoned him cause his dialogue after you defeat radan implies that he knew this was possibly going to happen in my opinion I think he was just torn apart, mentally because of his duty for the two fingers to illuminate ranni went against that and killed the assassins protecting her but he still has that little inkling of loyalty, for the two fingers telling him to fulfill his duties to them but he loves ranni so much did he just can’t bring himself to do it that’s why he’s telling himself that he could never hurt her He’s trying to convince himself and help himself remember so he doesn’t betray her but sadly he lost the battle when we came along 😢
I don't think he was sad that she abandoned him, he always knew that it would be the case. Even in his final moment was spent to restrained himself from doing what he was programmed to do 😢
That sadness is precisely why he follows Ranni in the first place. It was the "greater will" of the two fingers that destined him to oppose her. And perhaps plays a part in why Ranni decides that the gods of this world should not meddle in the affairs of mortals.
This is, this is art. Like genuinely. The music during the Nokron part when it went from the ancestral singing to a full on literal chorus performing it was just amazing. I just, I love these sorts of videos they’re just masterpieces in my mind
55:32 I can't get over how poetic this death is. Even from the armor the Tarnished is wearing, which used to be called the "Bloody Wolf" The armor now covered in the blood of not just a fellow wolf, but a true brother in arms, and the way the Tarnished mourns the loss of Blaidd, drenched in crimson red like DAYUM YALL DIDNT HAVE TO GO THIS FUCKING HARD 😢
I wish I spent more time with him I done underground before progressing with Ranni so I didn't feel much when he lost his mind, also was confused why people liked it so much xd
Vaati went from short lore videos giving overviews of concepts, to entire cinematics. This community and the people Vaati's works with to help him make these videos ARE AMAZING!
I truly can’t stop watching this master piece. Also, the shot at 55:39 of blaidd being stabbed and him just looking up, almost shocked and in pain as to his fate. God, this is art at its absolute finest. We truly don’t deserve the tireless work creators like vaati have done to give us content like this. I can’t sing the praises of this enough. All of the prepare to cry’s have been show/movie worth in their own right.
Notice that during the fight, the Tarnished only used his full power near the end. He let Blaidd strike the first blows and didn't fight back until he had to. Truly a sad moment.
This quest line broke me, I love Ranni and her boys. It took me a while to work up the strength to finish Blaidd off and ran away because I couldn’t bring myself to do it at first, I’ve been wearing his armor in remembrance since.
Ranni's dialogues are the hardest to understand to a non native english speaker like me, and yet I think it is so graceful, the way she speaks, an incredible delivery on the part of her VA. (Sorry if I wrote something wrong)
Coming back to watch this again, and holy shit the first person shots at 54:39 and on are incredible. Blaidd chomping and tearing at your flesh from a first person POV really sells how strong he truly is, and shows how sadly broken his mind has become.
It’s also sad because of earlier in nokron he joked about showing that annoying guy how sharp his teeth were, and then said he’d never do something like that
I can tell an incredible amount of dedicated work went into this video. I have been following your channel for quite a while and cannot thank you enough for presenting this captivating work of art. This video feels like cinematic masterpiece, from the artful narration to the cinematography and combat move sets that made the story more immersive. It was almost cathartic watching Ranni's storyline. I was so immersed in her questline and emotionally invested that this video felt like revisiting an old memory or a past life. I cant thank you enough, I felt like I should have purchased a movie ticket watching this! Looking forward to more of your videos :)
This story/movie made feel so much… it elevated this romantic, powerful and sad story to the emotional level it deserves. All those beautifully acted dialogues are so well put together… the characters seem real and so alive. This is the absolute beauty and genius of these From Software games : elaborating such deep stories yet told with so little (+ many deaths and rage quits between the different parts) so we can continue dreaming about and appropriate them, resulting in some magistral storytelling and fan art like this. My eyes burned and swelled an awful lot of time throughout this video, especially at the grand final end with Blaidd. but it was so worth and I thank you all for that. Merci !
Mind blowing little details and scene choices like 33:17 where the light of grace looks like it’s coming down that hill in the background. As a regular consumer of ER content, I’m thinking about All the mods you must have had to use, all the scene set ups. Vaati. That opening animation is gorgeous. "Chef's kiss" doesn't even come close to describing how outstanding those opening 4 minutes. The work you and your team put into these videos never ceases to amaze me, Vaati. ❤
The meaning behind the “Gehrman, The First Hunter” theme during the Tarnished fight with Blaidd was applied beautifully, much like the first time it is heard in Bloodborne. Two souls bound in brotherhood and a cause, but sadly culminating into a tragic end for the sake of the other. Well done Vaati and everyone involved, I can’t wait to watch this video again and again

Nepheli and Kenneth will deal those Lawless an Chaotic, i know they would
“Chaos” isn’t a bad thing like most people seem to think.

And what sucks more is how his fate was unavoidable
If it's any consolation to his story, I doubt he would have complained much at his fate, so long as Ranni accomplished her own mission. It's the one bright spot in the end for him. There aren't many happy endings for Fromsoft NPCs, I'm afraid.
it’s heartbreaking. absolutely devastating
Dam man, beautifully and tragically put
Dam man, beautifully and tragically put

Killing Blaidd and Alexander are absolutely heartbreaking. It's like having to kill your own brother.
Facts

That sadness is precisely why he follows Ranni in the first place. It was the "greater will" of the two fingers that destined him to oppose her. And perhaps plays a part in why Ranni decides that the gods of this world should not meddle in the affairs of mortals.

Nah, you nailed it. Nice work picking up a second language!
She doesn't speak english. She speaks Shakespearean 😆
You really do gotta pay attention to what she's saying to understand, and maybe google a few words here and there.
@@HumbertoHernandezNah bro, I swear Shakespeare is on a whole other level. Ranni uses simple words such as “thee” or “thy”.
Radahn just flying through that Canon of Haima unfazed has to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen
Coming back to watch this again, and holy shit the first person shots at 54:39 and on are incredible. Blaidd chomping and tearing at your flesh from a first person POV really sells how strong he truly is, and shows how sadly broken his mind has become.
Same it's very well done!
It’s also sad because of earlier in nokron he joked about showing that annoying guy how sharp his teeth were, and then said he’d never do something like that
4:45 “HEY!” ✋🏻😄
Vaati. Yes, you and your team are amazing and incredibly talented but thank you for putting in the effort. This was an Elden Ring cinematic experience. Thank you.
"Hey!" (Gets absolutely demolished by a ballista)
Playing ghermans theme during the fight with blaidd almost made me cry, absolutely amazing work to everybody that had a part in this!
That opening animation is gorgeous. "Chef's kiss" doesn't even come close to describing how outstanding those opening 4 minutes. The work you and your team put into these videos never ceases to amaze me, Vaati. ❤
Gehrman’s theme playing while fighting Blaidd pulled my heart strings more that it should have…
This has got to by one of my favorite videos the cinematic effort put in is greatly appreciated
This was a beautiful video. Thank you for bringing together everyone to make it.
This and the Max0r video being released so close together has made for a very entertaining day for Elden Ring fans. Both amazingly edited videos for very different reasons.
This was a stunningly beautiful, game to movie video. Thanks so much to you, and your teams work on these videos. Even if you don’t play the game you can appreciate the videos. It’s crazy to think a game can be made into such amazing content. The videos really help to understand the game as you play. Thanks for sharing your passion for the lore with us! 😊
