Great video - your best to day. Especially your parting comments. Profit isn’t a “dirty word” plus you didn’t make that full amount as I dare say you had to pay your mate/employee when you collected the car, then fuel (for both cars) and your time. Then the tax you need to pay on the profit and other overheads. Love your videos and next time I’m in the market to buy I’ll be in touch. 👍
Great work Matt. I'm actually thinking of buying this exact one myself (albeit in AMG Line Premium Plus Trim). Need to upsize from my mid 20s BMW 1er Hot Hatch and pretend to be a practical family man now that I've turned early 30s. Better this than a Qashqai though! Really impressed with your honesty and eye for detail, fixing those seats was a real class touch when you consider how small the imperfections were.
I got excited when this video appeared. It's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I've been watching your videos for a long time and always say I'd be confident to buy without actually seeing the car. Only after the video ended did I realise it's a year old. Drat!
12:55 Yes! Even if VAT deduction brings it down to 1200 profit; it's still 10% return on investment. I don't know any bank or investment firm that guarantees 10% interest on my investment. Specially considering how long that investment was on hold before reaping the benefits.
Ofc 10% is good for such small time, the problem is the risk. Not all cars will be like this one, if you encounter one with a big problem, there is no profit or worse, you lose money.
@@19alive Indeed that's the trick, which is why I'm not a car dealer. However, I believe if someone doesn't have to live off the profit on daily basis, then it can be made more profitable. By being a bit more selective in purchasing, you can make good money; as long as this is not your main/only source of income.
I have a S205 C350e with 145k miles, and it's a pretty good car, it's a 2015 just like the one in the video. Having a quick look, looks like yours was a sport with no options or packs on it. You can tell which material the seats are made of by looking at the material. The artico has perforations on some panels, while the leather does not.
Those seats are MB-TEX /Arteco. But it's revealing that it's really really hard to tell it's not leather. They even smell like leather. They're supposed to be more durable and don't need to be treated on a regular basis. But I prefer cloth, which in a Merc is also durable and reasonably easy to clean.
Matt, just watched this in full at work. You’re an absolute gent. Your profit came second on this and the customer care came first. 👏 How many car dealers could really say the same? I live local (ish) in Timperley, and I’m looking to upgrade my old 1 series next year. Your garage will be the first place I check before I go anywhere else. Well played fella. Bravo. 👏
Great video and service as usual Matt. Is was in the market for mid size estate a few months ago. Don’t like the BMW 3 series, so was between Merc C class and Audi A4 avant. Went with newer Audi in the end but would have been happy with one of these too, lovely car
Got a bit excited when I saw you were in an XJ despite it being a Mercedes video 😂 Do like the C-Class, just wish in the UK MB had offered it with the other bumper which ment the 3 pointed star was on the bonnet and not in the grille. Perhaps I’m old fashioned but like my Mercs with the star where I can see it
The M6 Toll road. When that first opened in 2003, there was a boycott. It was completely deserted. In my brand new Alfa 147, I did precisely 70mph on my regular NW trips. Knowing full well no traffic cop could ever justify being there. I think the Limitations Act 1980 covers me. More like double. It was the 147, Balboni Highway 😂😂
Yes to your question with the risk ,don’t kid yourself you know cars so your risk becomes minimal my friend as your now ventured into the property game (I’m constructing industry in oz) those risks increase 👍

Reminds me of a Navy Blue E250D Company car I had in 2012, the day I got the 'brand new' car with 85 miles on, there was a huge rip in the passenger seat. I asked the transporter driver why there was a rip in the seat. He couldn't speak very good english so I phoned the dealership up and got a very stern 'well it wasn't there when it was loaded on the transporter, so it's your company's responsibility'. Found out that a salesman had damaged the seat and tried to palm it off to us as if I wouldn't check. Ended up having the entire seat replaced at their cost, with three months worth of courtesy car (merc GLA) as they ordered the wrong seat to begin with (non electric seat). Now I check all items before i accept and sign for a delivery.
I loved this car. It's great for golf or fishing cos you can fit so much in, but it's great for a luxurious cruise!!!! I want one of these or a nice VW cc.

Nice classy Merc estate car & nice profit made too…good job as they say in US!! Always read reports that the Merc C220/250 diesel engine is bit noisy compared to other diesel engines out there??
New subscriber here! just going through my lessons right now and I have absolutely no idea about cars, I've really enjoyed watching you video's and when I see a car I'm always looking to see your thoughts. Now I want a jag xf for my first car thanks to you.
3:55 Yep, stop-start is a deal breaker for me. I was all set to buy a beautiful two year old C180 Coupe back in 2016. Right colour, right spec but no way of disabling the stop-start permanently. I had to walk away.
The 205 C Class had a 200, 220 and 250 diesel variants. 220 and 250 used the 2.1l engine, 200 I believe used a 1.6l diesel co developed with Renault and they seem to get mixed reviews with the main complaint being lack of power. My dad has a 2017 c250. Its a really nice car (particularly due to the prem+ pack) although it does have the tendancy to crash over bumps a bit. Overall a cracking car although I really detest the wheels that are on this car, the 5 spoke amg star wheels or the turbines look SO much better.
That Jag is nice looking. That classy beige color really suits it and it makes it look like royalty. So many people have cars like this but have no class and add blacked-out rims and windows. Glad to see a sensible Jag owner
Had in fact heard of Sea Venture... wrote an essay on the constitutional status of Bermuda when I was in college - the ship is portrayed on the Bermudan coat of arms ... sorry... rambling off again... thanks again for a fantastic video! "Quo Fata Ferunt..."
The estate you have bought matt is the basic sport version it has artico seats the leather seats on all Mercedes have double the amount of stitching so smaller panels in the seats the coupe and convertible c class have leather as standard
We took a couple of taxi trips on both Mercedes E-class and BMW 5 series. E class definitely feels more comfortable from the back seats. Not sure about the comfort level for C class though.
History lesson, motors & sharp wit all rolled into a single video. Excellent work centurion. Yet going to dock 10 marks for yet again still no HM leg gag slipped in for good measure. 8/10 must try harder.
Didn't expect the history facts at the end, love it! Have driven a C350e (work pool car) a few times, and it's lovely. Has air suspension as standard which is very cosseting. Fancy a C-Class coupe next myself, great cars.
Hearing the costs of the garages doing work on these cars always make me appreciate working on my own car. I understand this is a fairly new car with dealer history and you have to keep it going to sell for a good price as a car dealer but £800 ish for a engine & gearbox service, an mot and rear discs and pads, just sounds like these garages are making a fortune.
Had a higher spec one of these for the past 4 years and it is absolutely fantastic daily driver. Get it in sport spec like this with the chunky tires and better suspension, load it with all the kit on a premium plus model and you have a serious mini S class as everyone used to call this when it came out. The benefit being the comfort paired with the low running costs means if you have the money, there's very few downsides if you want this as a daily.
Nice car, I’ve had a few C Class Estates they’re lovely economical daily practical cars. That torn front seat is Mercedes fake artico leather, personally I think it’s posh vinyl and would prefer cloth to fake leather but it’s not an option.
You’d never believe it but I’m in the same position as that car buyer moving back from oz but in around 12/14mths that car would have suited me and the wife spot on 👍that’s why I keep on this channel
Have always loved a Merc estate, looks a great purchase and shall have enough life left in it (so long as it's maintained like anything else). Speaking of which, bought an 13 plate Polo Match Edition to do work commuting. 1k miles a month, in the last week it's dropping it's coolant quickly. No signs of leaks, water pump sounds fine, no mayo under the oil cap.. at a loss what it could be.. any ideas are welcomed.
Yes Matt I would risk it . Nothing ventured nothing gained Well done Matt your are a honest car dealer that's why you will become North West's best dealer in a couple of years time Kevin n from Rainy Radcliffe . Call this summer must go Kevin back to Gambia
In answer to your question, yes there was a c200d. I had one. With the 1.6 Renault engine, albeit slightly modified by Merc for a tad more power and refinement. To be fair, for everyday use it wasn’t drastically underpowered (136hp) but up hills fully loaded you could definitely feel the lack of power. I did manage in 50,000 miles 58mpg average though which was decent.
Great review. I was particularly interested in your thoughts as I have a very similar vehicle as my daily driver: 2015 C220d Sport in black and I have to say, it's a really nice car to potter around in. It's comfortable, quiet and extremely economical on a run. Merc wagons are inherently quite cool, in my opinion, and this is my first one. Main criticism is that it doesn't have a start/stop button, but everything else is spot on for my needs.
Hi Matt, Great video once again. I have recently been toying with the idea of buying an Estate car or station wagon as we call them here in Oz. Just so happens the MB C250 was one I was considering along with Audi A4 and possibly a Skoda. Maybe you have swayed me to the C250. Thanks for history lesson. Maybe include a fun fact in every video.
Hi Matt you say towards the end of the video would we the general public risk X amount of money for Y profit, we do the same in the print and workwear industry I work in, the difference for you is that you can sell the asset you spent your money on to someone else but when the job is finished for us it’s personalised to the customer so get it wrong and the whole job is scrap!! 🤞🏻

Done a trip from Edinburgh to Windsor and back in April, managed to get 56MPG average and in super comfort.
Came for the car, stayed for the History lesson 👍
Big thumbs up.!....loved the history lesson....oh nice jaguar too .
I live
local (ish) in Timperley, and I’m looking to upgrade my old 1 series next year.
Got a bit excited when I saw you were in an XJ despite it being a Mercedes video 😂
Do like the C-Class, just wish in the UK MB had offered it with the other bumper which ment the 3 pointed star was on the bonnet and not in the grille. Perhaps I’m old fashioned but like my Mercs with the star where I can see it
I hear, very sadly, new Mercedes estates are on their way out of the UK market, thanks mainly to the mania for SUVs that plague the reads everywhere!
We havenot long bought a c220 diesel same year and spec. Very nice car to use to be fair. Comfortable and nice size inside.
Great video from Matt yet again i wish all used car dealers had your integrity mate.
Another great car video and a history lesson to boot. If I was in the market for a motor, I'd be on my way down.
Great Question and Video, I think you are still going forward, so yes I would. Great content and thankyou for that!
Nice work Matt, I enjoy your videos very much. You're a true car enthusiast and entertaining to watch. Thanks mate!
Matt i went too the other side off the world last week from Manchester . I went to BLACKBURN , Jesus what a place .
I think it would be great if you did a video on the XJ
The M6 Toll road. When that first opened in 2003, there was a boycott. It was completely deserted. In my brand new Alfa 147, I did precisely 70mph on my regular NW trips. Knowing full well no traffic cop could ever justify being there. I think the Limitations Act 1980 covers me. More like double. It was the 147, Balboni Highway 😂😂
I am no fan of mercs, but this one was so mint (plus the put effort from Matt), that i really liked it.. :) Bravo!
Yes to your question with the risk ,don’t kid yourself you know cars so your risk becomes minimal my friend as your now ventured into the property game (I’m constructing industry in oz) those risks increase 👍
Hi Matt, on the upside, the cost of sales and the trouble of sales was really low. I think that could offset the slightly higher preparation cost.
Nice car matt and a quick turnaround the man's got a good motor there and that's better than having it sat on your forecourt for weeks great video as usual and nice to see you know the dogging sites lol 😆
I always enjoy your videos and seeing how the trade works. Now if only you had a Beemer 530d touring in I would come knocking at your door! After a lot of thinking that is what I have set my sights on as my retirement present to me!
That’s a nice car Matt and it’s ULEZ compliant too. The interior doesn’t look like real leather though, I think it’s Artico I’m afraid.
Great Video Matt , Love the way you put the customer 1st
That Jag is nice looking. That classy beige color really suits it and it makes it look like royalty. So many people have cars like this but have no class and add blacked-out rims and windows. Glad to see a sensible Jag owner
Had in fact heard of Sea Venture... wrote an essay on the constitutional status of Bermuda when I was in college - the ship is portrayed on the Bermudan coat of arms ... sorry... rambling off again... thanks again for a fantastic video! "Quo Fata Ferunt..."
Oh really. What an unusual subject matter. Do you have any connection with the island?
@@HighPeakAutos Sorry no... but I am fascinated by islands! Bermuda in particular... A visit is on my "to do list"
Well done and you deserve an easy one now and again. 🎉
A true car guy. Happy the C250 made a decent profit. 👏
Hi Matt, to answer your question if the car is good enough and your checks work out then profit is profit so yes the spend is justified
History lesson, motors & sharp wit all rolled into a single video. Excellent work centurion. Yet going to dock 10 marks for yet again still no HM leg gag slipped in for good measure.
8/10 must try harder.
Hahaha cheers
Hello Matt
I hope your well?
I love your honesty
That is a beautiful car I love it
Lisa UK xxxx
The buyer has got himself a really good 'un there. One of your best, Matt. Lovely car - and no privacy glass - Whoopee!!
Didn't expect the history facts at the end, love it! Have driven a C350e (work pool car) a few times, and it's lovely. Has air suspension as standard which is very cosseting. Fancy a C-Class coupe next myself, great cars.
I can only echo what people have said before matt great video from an honest guy ,
It’s a beautiful car indeed! Always love station wagon.
These cars have a timeless look
Had a higher spec one of these for the past 4 years and it is absolutely fantastic daily driver. Get it in sport spec like this with the chunky tires and better suspension, load it with all the kit on a premium plus model and you have a serious mini S class as everyone used to call this when it came out. The benefit being the comfort paired with the low running costs means if you have the money, there's very few downsides if you want this as a daily.
Annoyingly after 70k miles, the seat tear occured in mine also.
I’d love one of these! Always see them in grease as taxis and love being driven around in them
That white van was delivering parts for one of yours!! Great result. Welcome back to England the buyer! Cheers
More history added to the videos Matt loved that bit.
I'm a volvo estate person but gotta respect that merc estate
Have always loved a Merc estate, looks a great purchase and shall have enough life left in it (so long as it's maintained like anything else).
Speaking of which, bought an 13 plate Polo Match Edition to do work commuting. 1k miles a month, in the last week it's dropping it's coolant quickly. No signs of leaks, water pump sounds fine, no mayo under the oil cap.. at a loss what it could be.. any ideas are welcomed.
Matt you are an absolute star!
Nice bit history outro Mat!! I kinda count diesel too if goes into 25/50/100 just dismiss the 15’s
I have a 2013 C250D coupe. Has 80k on it and never skips a beat. Fantastic cars and if looked after will go on and on.
Yes Matt I would risk it . Nothing ventured nothing gained
Well done Matt your are a honest car dealer that's why you will become North West's best dealer in a couple of years time
Kevin n from Rainy Radcliffe .
Call this summer must go
Kevin back to Gambia
Great car - nice to see someone actually looked after this car!
this is worth the watch for the james town reference alone!
Great vid as always, especially the history lesson
Every video should come with a history fact. Your USP !!! 🙂 And eductional to boot.
Keep it! After investing so much and a car that has been so cared for, it needs enjoying.
Credit to you for preparing it properly, even when you had sold it.
Always find these videos helpful great advice
