    From a previous video you indicated you like mono when fishing jigs. It looks like you are using a size 30 reel. How often are you needing to re-spool?

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respool every spring.

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, They had it forecasted to go much higher than it actually did. We didn’t get the rain that was forecasted so the river did go up but as high as they thought

      @@Reezystp yea man the water on p2 is still so low. Don’t think it’s going to go up all that much higher either, unfortunately. Last year was bad too. Two years ago was super high and awesome… I wish it would rain for like 5 days straight

    Great video man! I've decided to start fishing the river this spring for eyes and I'm excited to hopefully land my first ever Mississippi river walleye. If you don't mind me asking, what pool were you fishing?

    Great video , like it if you would tell your jig weight and bait size in your vids

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I generally try to mention the jig size in my videos. Maybe I missed it in this one. I pretty much use 1/4 or 3/8 oz jigs and plastics that are 3-3.5” in length.

    The hubby and I love fishing on the Mississippi. What type of knot did you use on your jig retie. Love the content..keep it coming.

    • @drdavewi
      @drdavewi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It looked like a Palomar that he used. Is a great knot if the eye in the lure is large enough to accept line that is doubled-over.

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, palomar knot. Put the line through twice, tie an overhand knot with the loop and the two ends, put the jig through the loop and pull tight.

    First thing when I got home I get a phone call from my uncle that fishes a lot and he just called to let me know just this one thing. Angler X uploaded a video an hour ago. Nice walleyes . And you're right about trying to find them spots where the current isn't as strong I know that feeling you can find them spot sometimes that might be the Best spot you ever found.

    • @AnglerX

      I have fished those rivers but not much for spring walleye. It should be a good time to try it.

    Hey there angler x I recently been put onto walley fishing and would like to thank and ask you some question also , ? I mainly wade fish for trout upstate ny I like to spin fish with spoons and spinners mostly and have had great experiences .. how are you running your line what lb test and braid with a mono or fluoro bumper or leader or straight line ?

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I run straight mono when pitching jigs on spinning gear. For spring walleyes I use 8 lb mono hi vis gold Stren.

    • @stanleybailer3350
      @stanleybailer3350 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright yeah I've pitched jigs from shore @ the river for walleye and have only caught small mouth and pike , with 15 lb braid and 8 and 10 lb fluorocarbon leader 6' to 8' I'm not to sure if it's the time year I'm trying and have been missing pre-spawn and after when would I get out there and target them ?

      Lol! Water temp is key. Around the Mississippi where I fish we catch walleye ice out until about a water temp of 45 deg. They are generally in full spawn mode by mid April. They will be tough to catch until end of April into May when they start feeding heavy again. The season is open year round on the Mississippi River.
