      Thanks, I really wanted to show what is possible by the average guy using this the first time. I could have used my 12" Meade ACF and got way better results, but feel that's not a fair demo especially of an entry level product.
      As far as a color cam, what are you looking to capture with it?

      @@AVTAstro I would really like to see what this camera does on a 12". I would also like to see what a "better" camera does on this scope.
      Basically a comparison of high end accessories on a less capable scope and lower end accessories on a higher end scope.
      I can't be the only guy who gets a cheap scope as a gift or something and wants to move up later but doesn't have the money to do it all at once....
      Start with a gift or cheap scope, find out you enjoy it, buy some higher end accessories so you can enjoy it enough to know you want to move up to a better scope but can't afford all new accessories...
      Does that make any sense?
      If you got a cheap scope and cheap accessories then moved up to a nice scope but couldn't afford new accessories for it that would be a bummer.

    The quality of a photographic camera and an astro telescope is that in the photo or video the small creters that are in the great creter Plato are seen. (something possible only with good seeing) It is also recommended to use a Barrow x5 in front of the camera, the image of the camera I think is approx that of an eyepiece X6

    • @AVTAstro

    Your clock read 03:39 am. Were those noctilucent clouds on the horizon at minute 11:32 in the video? I am not sure how far north you are, but they would be most visible around the time and date you shot the video. I just got one of these cameras and tried it out this morning. Can you go over the settings we should be trying to use in order to take a good video for the purposes of running through pipp and then registax?
    I feel like I'm really close. If I knew a good starting point then i wouldn't have to try and mess with it in the dark.
    One of the problems I'm having is that the USB cable is so stiff it is messing with my tracking. I'm working on that though.
    I did manage to get the rings on Saturn and I can either get Jupiter in focus by itself or Jupiter really bright with the moons. If I adjust things i can tone down the brightness of Jupiter and actually see some different colors, the bands in assume even with a white top but I lose the moons when I do it.....
    Moon isn't out now, I'll have to wait, but that's what I'm most interested in...
    I did mount a 2x Barlow on the cam.
    I am using, don't laugh cause I really like it and got it brand new in the box for 20 bucks at a garbage sale, a Meade etx-60mm with an ALMOST functional goto. It does cut down on tracking issues but it doesn't keep up. I am pretty sure the motors are vibrating the whole thing and screwing up my pictures.
    Once I get it where i want it i think I'm going to just put the planet in the left side of the eyepiece start the capture and turn off the tracker. If I can get a good steady mount set up and image as it crosses the eyepiece left to right I should get some stackable shots in there somewhere right?

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll need to put a video together specifically on how I capture planets bit honestly I'm no expert at it.
      As far as the tracking issue it can be caused by the mount. I think I'd at least try to do an untracked capture to see if your getting mere steady frames.

  • @martynh5410
    @martynh5410 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve got one. It’s pretty good for the price but you can’t change the ROI so it’s fine if you need to capture it’s full FOV., like for the Moon. The Sv305 is a better camera but it’s around $150 (I also have the 305).

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool. Not familiar with the SV305, and honestly not a camera wizz in general. If we are in that $200 price range the ZWO 224mc is an awesome option! That's what my EAA/ planetary AP really began with.
      This 105 is a solid option for someone that is on a budget and wants to take some pictures of the solar system though. I wish we had something like this in the early 2000's when we where modifying web cams by gluing 35mm film cans to them🤣🤣🤣

    • @martynh5410
      @martynh5410 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AVTAstro Yes the 105 is a decent camera and excellent value. The $150 305 did a pretty decent job on the planets as you can see in my video here th-cam.com/video/S4JVdkAmw7Y/w-d-xo.html

    can a 2k webcam be used? i recently purchased a mobiltechplus mw1350 i plugged in to my laptop to see if it works but was so blurry couldn't make anything out is this how it should be before its put on the telescope or is my cam delivered faulty

    • @AVTAstro

      Sounds like you might need an extension tube to reach focus. But yes a webcam can be used and the entry level Astro cams that are made for the planets are basicly a specialty webcam.

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool as I have a 6d as well👍 I have not looked into it. Not sure if the 6d will be able to shoot a video in equal resolution to the sv105. The other thing is that it's just convincing to have a cheap small camera to use specifically with your scope.

      Hi, well yhe 3x barlow will help to make the image bigger but you are still at a relatively short focal leanght. The other issue is that the scope will show more and more chromatic aberation the higher in power you go. Camera wise the sv205 that i have a review of as well would do better on the planets with its smaller pixels.
