Hello everyone, Frost here. Welcome back to another episode of rags to riches, this is the 5th episode of the series... a series where we detail ways to make gold in classic world of warcraft. Previously we covered a high level grinding spot, today we're going to have different approach by using professions and time to make some extra gold...The methods im going to show today work specially during a fresh server release but not only. So without further ado, lets explore.
The first method requires leatherworking. The fun part about this is that it can be done semi-afk assuming you get prepared in advance during your playtime.
As soon as you reach 225 skill with leatherworking Nightscape tunic and Nightscape headband will become available at the the leatherworking trainers:
Drakk Stonehand in Hillsbrad foothills for Alliance.
Hahrana Ironhide in Feralas for the Horde.
The way to make gold with these recepies is to mass craft and sell them to vendor. This is a decent gold method if you work from home or if you can remotely access your computer from your workplace. Also if you feel like watching a movie... for 2 hours your character can still make a decent amount of gold, semi-afk, with minimum effort.
Method 2
In the second method will use Tailoring and enchanting to create wands. This can be viable during a fresh launch experience as everyone will need them, specially warlocks and priests. Sometimes they'll burn all their silver just to get one. Although I've never tried this method, in theory it sounds doable. Even if you don't make lots of gold with it, it will still help provide wands for your close friends and guild members. In rags to riches not everything it's about making gold because the richness of a player it's not necessarily defined by the amount of digits his backpack carries.
So, as soon as you pick tailoring and enchanting start saving all the linen cloths and if your friends need wands... tell them to give you their supply aswell. Make bolts from all the cloth until you reach skill lvl 30. At that point you can learn to craft the brown linen robe which is of green quality and has around 20% chance to yield 1 or 2 lesser magic essence upon disenchanting. In my experience 20 robes resulted in 20 strange dusts and 8 Lesser magic essence but it's all tied to the RNG nature of the process. Sometimes you'll get lucky sometimes, well... not lucky. Don't worry to much about it as you can use the dust to level up enchanting.
Use the first essence to create a runed copper rod and the rest to create wands. If you're lucky and get a nice amount of essence you could try to sell them on the general chat for maybe around 50 silver, some people will be willing to pay that price. If not just give them away and make someone happy.

I am unnervingly hyped. I actually hate how hyped i am because I can't stop thinking about this damn game. I don't think Blizzard will mess it up. I have never had a huge amount of faith in them, but I think they are reacting unexpectedly well to what the community wants. I think it is overwhelmingly likely that i'll get the game i want.
I adore your videos because you give alot of lore background information most players don't know and the math skills to make gold :) I pass time waiting for classic by watching classic wow video how-tos :) Thanks for reminding me of why all the epic and blues I just vendored like trash when retail expansions came...and are going to be valuable now! After running the stress tests in August, I'm psyched and ready to play the grind that made you feel like you achieved something with blood, sweat, and numb butts.
I've personally tried the rush for crafting wands through enchanting with tailoring to make greens, and was able to make a lesser by lvl 10 and greater by 15 or 16.
It's a very big game changer especially for priests, but I was easily selling lesser wands for 25s on the AH and greaters for 1g.

Grindulate I feel you, already pretty much done with mmo’s coming back for classic. If they retune raids and dungeons ie: no fire resist for rag or tune it for 10 man groups or screw it in any other ways I won’t ever look at another.
My plan is to rock hard classic for 2 - 3 years and then maybe be done with mmo's for good :)
I feel ya. I'm praying that as long as they do a decent rework of classic (I think they are from what I've seen so far).. then this is a game I know and love. Any extra B/S Blizzard Activision come up with I'm gonna ignore. As longs as the PVP is real, the social fabric of the community, the raid scene.. then I'm all good.

Greater magic wand is CRAZY op at level 13. 17,5 dps with no mana cost is just plain nuts. Priests who have the wand talent especially will love this portion of the leveling experience precisely because they get access to Greater Magic Wand. Just bubble and wand, mobs die fast and you have 0 downtime.
True, priest benefits the most from wands.
@@Frostadamus Yeah, with the wand talent you could do almost as much dps with the wand at level 13 as you could with mind flay as an SP at level 20. with the difference that a wand can crit, no mana cost and no pushback. That's how insanely nuts that wand was.

Nice Idea, tried this yesterday and got some cheap leather. One addition to the method: Try to sell a few Headbands in the Auction House, they sold pretty well for double the vendor price or even more - let's see how it goes on your Server as the item itself is very good. Of course don't put 40 of them in the Auction House at the same time ^.^
yea, you could keep a couple on your bank.
And if they ones you have listed sold, log on an alt and list more.
I quit wow a several years ago, and have reactivated every now and then, just to og bored again when i see the lack of challenge, and how "hand holding" the retail wow has become. I just found out about classic a week ago, because i have spent 0 attention to wow related content for years. And this was the best surprise ever! Super hyped to be honest. Back in Vanilla i got to High Warlord by only doing solo pvp, so it's safe to say i had no life back then xD, and i know how time consuming classic will be, and i will not have the same ammount of time to invest in classic, but i sure will enjoy the crap out of it anyways. So happy i missed the announcement back in 2017 too..now i only have 3 months to wait :D

Such a great series, Gothic 1 and mostly 2 are my best RPGs. Gothic 3 had beautiful graphics and music but not so great gameplay and alot of bugs.. I still tried it with the fans patch.

When starting back in 2005-2006 i made alot of gold from not using AH pretty much. alot of others bought gear, potions, mats and stuff on AH while i just farmed it. ofc i used AH to sell stuff but at the time i hit lvl 60 i allready had the gold to buy epic mount and riding skill for it. same at lvl 40, no need to borrow gold.
The numbers are off for Nightscape Tunic. The revenue comes out to 7s24c per Tunic compared to 7s19c per Headband on Classic. They both take 35 seconds to craft so the Tunics edge out the Headbands on both profit per unit AND gold per hour.
Finally, a new video. Do I dare to watch it though in case of another dry spell? Shucks, no way I can resist. Gonna make a coffee for this episode.
My ultimate plan is to play Classic, hype it to everyone I know, and pray that it does good enough that Blizz releases a TBC server and then Ill weep tears of ultimate joy.

I'm still pretty hype for classic, just spending my time stock piling gold on retail to pay for tokens, so I can play classic for free. I've pretty much stopped playing on any private servers, basically as a self preservation for classic. Great video as always Frost!!!

@@Frostadamus They're about 160-180k on EU at the moment. They've been as high as 350-400k in Legion on EU servers, I assume they'll go up a bit with the classic release date announcement and as launch approaches. Probably takes about 4-6 hours of herbing to fund a month right now though, depending how much effort you put in.

@@Frostadamus Joana did it in 4.2 days / played. 1 week is pushing it, I won't be setting records & I like reading the quest text. I'm not as young as I used to be but I aim to be well ahead of the pack. By day 20 of launch I fully intend to attuned to MC and Ony with my preBIS.
The nightscape chest piece selling was exactly what I did on northdale and 1g 20s was my buyout too xD here I was thinking I was a genius figuring this shit out, the other is now I make the head bands and disenchant them the money is definitely there ;)

I'll answer your question,. I quit a long time ago and just play on my own private server for the. I liked Wotlk , but wasn't keen on BC or anything else after wrath. You are right worrying about micro transactions and shady things going on in the background, you will have server phasing and sharding, I wouldn't be suprised that LFR is involved too.
Hey frost I hope you make more videos! Maybe ones about your old/favourite experiences or your favourite areas to train and why. I pass time waiting by watching your vids ;p also I'm playing total warhammer 2 which is a great game. I'm playing an undead warlock on nightbane (tbc) and loving it. (The thick leather is selling for bloody 14g b/o!) Peace man; try not to let it all worry you as I belive that , if blizz fucks up, alot of people will hunt down private servers. But I can see that making blizz going to war against them (against their fans basically) and if that happened it will be the end of of them for good!

I am so beyond hyped, and I honestly think Blizz will do a great job with Vanilla and try their absolute hardest not to over step the community. (Can't say the same with Activision) Their company is tanking into the ground- literally the ONLY way to maybe bring back their glory days is with the glory days of Vanilla as it was identically. And honestly, bringing back BC in the future also.

Great video, I too hope that greedy Activision doesn't fuck up Classic for everyone. My hype is still intact, and we finally got a nugget of news recently about Classic releasing in Summer still. I'm trying to set up my career path before classic releases, because afterwordsthere's no way id be able to do that kinda stuff while im busy grinding to 60 :P
Headband sells at 44.95
44.95 - 9s for thread = 35.95 / 5 leather per = 7.19
Tunic sells at 59.71
59.71 - 9s for thread = 50.71 / 7 leather per = 7.24
So ultimately you make 5 copper more per tunic crafted than headband
Got my mount money and more from tunics. Paired with skinning your basically getting 7s per mob.
Also some golden pearls.
Oh and a truckload of gold from refined deeprock salt!
Classic is very important as it's the only chance I have of getting my old buddies to come back and adventure together again. If a cash "grab" shop appears I reckon that it will flop.
classic will eventually have a cash shop.
But probably they'll sell server transfers, appearance changes, race chance and so on.
I cant wait for classic! still not sure what class or faction to roll as have played most. Would be nice to join a friendly, active and helpful guild right from the start.
you can also buy blue linen vest from the trade vender at goldshire i believe it has a better chance

@@Frostadamus and if you can walk to Westfall blue linin robe for talior 70 has a much higher chance for essences pretty srue. from trade goods vender,
just checked Classic DB aparently brown linen robe blue linen robe and blue linen vest all have 20% at essences. but blue linen vest is lv 55 and robe is 70 so you can level talioring to over 100 easily without using any wool this way which helps a ton.
think 20% for the brown linen robe also.

Maybe we could move on fairly quickly towards cataclysm and reforge the world as warfront/conquest/world quest zones.
At this point it seems like companies should utilize as many pre-existing assets to create new experiences while we wait for the next generation of gaming

I'm really hyped. And I'm hopefull that Blizzard will do classic right. I worry a little bit tho. I will study this summer and fall so I have to focus on homework first, and wow second. But I will do my best to not fall behind in school.

Im not sure if i will like classic as much as i want to, after all, classic is mostly static combat and i moved on to action combat in games a long time ago, but i do hope i will once again love classic like i did at release :P

The wand guide might not be viable in early classic since they werent changed to be green quality from grey until patch 1.8
And if we have progressive itemization in classic, that won't be until AQ patch which is a year or so after launch

I'm staying excited, but low key so i don't bust a vein. I quit retail 3 months ago and am dying for classic to start
I was really hyped but not anymore. Just the way that Activision does business really turns me off from playing their games. I was planning on playing hard core but with their bad business trends and my responsibility now as a husband and dad I won't be. If I do play classic i'll play casually on a PVE server taking in the scenes.

So how many others are playing around on private servers to test bits out and get ready properly? :) currently i am testing out some classes so i can make a final decision come retail classic release. I am a bit of an alt-aholic (probably because end game of current retail is very lack luster) but i know come classic i will want to focus on just the 1 character.
It's important to get your main to level 60 and gear it up a bit.
After that alts are a fun way to keep things spicy in classic wow.
Think I'm going to play 3 - 4 alts on the side :P
playing on kronos waiting for classic...mostly because LH/ND shutting down when classic launches and if classic fails...kronos doesn't seem to be going anywhere
I don't really have faith that Blizzard will control the gold sellers & programs like Glider to automate aspects of the game. Especially since they got rid of most GMs and player support with the recent job cuts. But, I am hopeful that they will be able to properly support the community when it finally arrives.
One of the reasons I'm making these videos is with hope that people will know how to get their gold without having to purchase from gold sellers.
I like the wand idea alot :) If im maining a cloth id like to level tailoring enchanting and doing that could possible level my first 100 enchanting and tailoring levels for free or maybe even with a profit
That's what I thought, I mean, it's a simple idea.. yet so rewarding.
Take a break from the game frosty. tho keep making vids when you feel like it. i had to take a long break since nost and feenix realms. learnt to drive a car bought a car also buy a BOAT an get licensed for it too. lots of fish on the table now :)

jokes aside, I hope they will not ruin the gaming experience, but do not touch the micro transactions I do not think is possible, every game today is based on micro transactions, well wow you pay a subscription, we hope they stop at that. back in the days when WoW was crack on cd-rom
For real on the micro transactions. Gamers in 2004 almost boycotted the game that you had to buy AND pay a monthly subscription for. That was considered highway robbery at the time. But as reviews came out and TBC came out we realized the sub fee was well worth the money.
I used to DE those greens and sell the mats for more profit. I guess it depends on the AH prices
yes, the enchanting mats from the headband and tunic will be mid-level mats and the market gonna be flooded.
But you can do what you said with wicked leather headband, which can give greater nether essence, illusion dust and large b shards.
Frostadamus something like that. I did this in original vanilla and TBC so my memory is somewhat fuzzy!
One thing I also did when lucky with AH was buying bandages from AH and selling to vendor for profit lol
