This is great! I started doing FMA 2 months ago and while I'm only able to go once a week on average, I am starting to see how all of this works. Yesterday I went to a 3 hour knife defense seminar and the block-check-counter movements here are what I was learning yesterday but with a knife in hand. I am looking forward to doing empty hand practice in the coming months!

Miss doing kali, what people don't understand it's a combative art. It's not the same as MMA, MMA has rules and its a sport. Kali is used in Philippines army, based on weapons like krav maga.

so MMA is not a combative art?^^
Kali doesnt work in MMA but when my opponent has a weapon it will start to work?

The moment you check one punch with both of your arms, you know it's not only the other hand but the knees, head butt, groin attack, leg low kick, Takedowns and finally, you got punch drunk✌️ good luck with that choreograph

Agreed. Good luck timing someone's punch combo. What if they hit you with the lead left hook first then straight? Didn't practice that? Whoops! Live sparring is necessary or it's not legit.

I think it depends on your body positioning. He's stepping to the outside, and he could easily slide in and hit with his left elbow or left knife hand, rather than crossing over to intercept the second punch.

I've never seen any of this in a real fight or UFC. Nice drills, that's about it. Will work great on a complient and non aggressive partner every time.

You've never seen it in UFC because regulations forbid a lot of it. Some of those arm bars and throws when done 'entirely' would incorporate bone breaks, which aren't allowed in UFC. He's also not including many strikes that would be incorporated in a real situation but are also not allowed in contact sports.

LOL UFC is a sport. Kali is the real deal--being used to train special forces all over the world. It's too deadly for a sport. Kali's aim is to kill and if not, quickly maim the enemy. You just can't see it in UFC because UFC is not for killing or maiming, but you will hear tales of Kali used in the armed forces. Do your research.

@@LiwaySaGu Been training in martial arts for over 40 years. I know bullshit when i see it. Ever been in a street fight??? Its bloody mayhem. This stuff is fir movies. So ive done my research and wore the tshirt.

@@Brian66192 my friend as a 25+years FMA pratictioners i agree with you.
I dont think the guy in the video is ready to be a teacher. Either this or the channel has to contextualize the technique a bit more and step out the "freezing opponent" zone.
Beside Balintawak Cuentada, U.S.A. is not doing well in terms of FMA

u don't train kali to learn empty hands. these are last ditch resort moves once you've lost ur weapon. in the real world ur not fighting ufc fighters, this stuff will work on the loud mouth causing trouble at the bar

That look a bit more like Silat than kali....

Our system is technically kali-Silat blend!

This is some kind of circus.
Why are you twice as fast as your attacking opponent? That never happens in life. For one straightforward movement of your opponent, you make two more complicated trajectories.
Why does the opponent freeze after his attack for no reason, you do nothing for it? You have broken the elementary causal link.
Therefore it is a useless circus and nothing more.
