A highly popular drill in Filipino martial arts is a close-quarter exercise called Hubad. In this drill, practitioners cycle their hands, working on trapping their opponent's hand to create openings for counter-strikes. This approach bears resemblance to Jeet Kune Do and Wing Chun. In this context, Sifu Singh takes this knife drill and expands it to incorporate boxing techniques.

Love flow drills, I remember most of it back when I was training JKD. I learned more from Guru Inosanto when he was the special guest and showed us alot of trapping and flow drills.

Hello, I wanted to ask you. These things are awesome. Do they work against boxers. I am asking you, because when I have watched fights the boxers beat almost everyone. Do these things work against a very well trained boxer. Can you apply your techniques against a boxer,or you will automatically start boxing him, because this is the best option?

    • @victor4advice
      @victor4advice 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

Wing chun techniques don't work well against boxing. You can play around with flow drills if you want. Won't help too much on the street. Boxing alone isn't good because they don't know how to deal with kicks. You will never stand infront of someone playig slap hand on the street. Better to practice good traps and blocks with a powerful counter. Practice that over and over stepping off the line as you do. And spar alot. Better than playing sticking hands al day.

The drill does not work well against a boxer.
      But neither does mitt work.
A drill is a tool to develop a skill or skills. Applying it is a different matter.
If it seems useful to you, use it. If it doesn’t, it isn’t for you.

@@Sultan0803I am a Filipino and sorry to tell you that you are wrong. It depends on the pronunciation. If the stress is on the first syllable (hu' - bad), it is a word from Visaya and Hiligaynon Language which means to untie. If the stress is on second syllable (hu - bad' ) , it means ( verb) to undress, to get naked. Or (as a noun) naked.
The first pronunciation with the stress on the first syllable ( hu'-bad) is the kali technique, which is to defend or escape against a trap or a hold. It goes along with "lubad" which also means to untangle from a hold or a choke.
Have you heard of "Higot-hubad-lubad" ? "Higot" which means to engage, trap or hold is the offence by manipulating the arm or hand of your opponent and the "hubad-lubad" is the defence by the opponent by countering the trap and engagement by the and escaping the hold and or choke.
As a Filipino, I had never knew of a word "hubud". Mabe it is just an invented word by Kali practitioners in the US or maybe it is an Indonesian or Silat technique. But as I said hubad is not wrong.

Bruce Lee would never approve of this being taught as JKD. This is overly complex and inefficient. Simplicity and directness are some of the core principles of JKD. You aren’t trying to stick. You are detaching. It’s not wing chun.

    • @user-ud5xw8ox8g

@@user-ud5xw8ox8g approve what? Inosanto didn’t teach him wing chun. You think his stayed frozen in time from 67 to 73? JKD became more refined and direct as time went on. There is no wing chun in late stage JKD. As Inosanto himself said, it’s more like kickboxing, wong sheung leung, you know who that is right? Of course you don’t. He was the last guy Bruce sparred, he was the guy who primarily taught him wing chun when he was younger. Bruce beat him although it was a friendly exchange. But even said he used ‘his method’ he didn’t use wing chun.
You guys make me laugh. You try replying like you are the authority on a subject you know little about because you watched a couple old interviews or did a 5 minute google search. I actually study JKD under Tommy Carruthers and his senior instructors. You don’t even know who that is.
Don’t confuse concepts with original. After Bruce, JKD went to shit. 50 years of misrepresentation and misinterpretation has lead to the absolute nonsense you see now like in the video about. This is NOT Bruce Lee’s JKD. This is sloppy. Indirect and inefficient.
If you knew anything you’d know Bruce took trapping and chi sao out the curriculum in 1971 because he found more effective and streamlined methods. He more than likely moved away from it by 68/69.
At least do some actual research before trying to come across as a smart ass.
