- It's my first contract as a second mate, so I feel excited and a bit nervous at the same time.
In this video I shared a day in my life at port, from preparing my passage plan to doing cargo operation at morning time.
I find that a second mate's job is so much different than a thirdmate. First, it's much more quiet on my watch as it's everyone's sleeping time. Second, I feel more responsible about my job, and more confident about making decisions. Third, I feel much more motivated to be more. I think to myself, if I can become a second mate, then one day, maybe I can become a chief mate also. :) Let's see what the future hold. 💛

Second officer, you made the passage plan, you are the navigating officer. I believed you’re working in a chemical tanker class A 1. Stolt Chemical tankers. I worked for 27 years in the same trade the OWL chemical tankers Odffell Westfal Larsen. Stay safe coz I know those chemicals were all hazardous. I do cheated death and luckily survived with the fumes in one of the tanks even was properly ventilated. Enjoy the sea life which I do miss. Thanks for the vlog!

Hello, please i need your help! You can explain how to correctly calculate distance in noon report?
There are two distances, observed and log. From the ecdis you calculate distance to go from noon to noon, or from sosp to noon, and that is obs. dist. This 'observed distance' is the actual distance your ship ran. Log distance is from your speed log. Remember you reset it upon sosp? And just substract from the total speed as well.
