Our safe room project is finally complete! 640 12" blocks pumped full of concrete. Topped with 9, 12' steel beams from edge to edge, welded down to steel plates locked into the block walls, with another course of 12' block and covered with steel pan-decking across the top that were welded down to the steel beam below... have brought us to the day we've all been waiting for. This a monumental project has finally come to an end.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. @@meiraloraduncan8953 the boys help more than people realize. They are intentionally not on camera but helping out of frame the majority of the time. In this video they gave us express permission to have them on camera as they understood there was no way we could accomplish the task as quickly as necessary and manage to keep them off camera. If we had more time prior to the pour they would have been doing the same things you saw in this video but I would have not publicly shown them doing it.
I know she's fit and strong but I'm constantly amazed at how much Erin can lift pull and push for a small lady. Great work team
I just hope she doesn't destroy her back which will show up in old age! I speak from experience. I worked like a storm trooper, lifting, pushing, bending, stooping, etc. when I was young. At almost 76 now, my back reminds me of its abuse every day!🥲🥹

That was a pressure filled race against the clock before the concrete truck arrived! Phew! Team work certainly made that dream work (even though it was a bit of a nightmare process).
Now they can truly move ahead with the rest of this build. So looking forward to seeing the next sections progress ahead.
Kudos to the kids for stepping in and working so hard with their parents to help them barely make that crucial deadline!

OMG, so happy for you guys to get the safe room to the point where you can start to get humping on addition dried in. Kudos to 2 boys for pitching in much appreciated 4 sure. My boys all grown up with their own families now always brag about helping me & their mom with building our home, a deck around a pool, a 2 car garage & workshop.

your kids are great. the boys are so helpful with all the chores, even Ellie was looking out for the concrete truck. that part of the build is done and now it's onto the roof panels.
I like the rebar instead of the wire mesh, it is a lot stronger and of course holds more weight.

Putting up the boards to make sure that the concrete would not overflow reminded me of the A Frame build the bottom part which by the way became your shelter when that big storm hit awhile back. Good thing that you had the boys help with the last part of that it was good to see all hands on deck to button everything up.
