lol my apologies for how many times I reminded everyone how many batting titles he has. But i guess this pinned comment can be trivia... can you name another hitter who has a batting title in the NL and the AL?
Far too much repetition throughout. I subscribed based on someone having the brains to use Statcast, and unsubscribed after 7 minutes of saying the same thing again and again. Work on it, compadre.
Dodger's and big Ichiro fan here. If Ichiro played in today's game he would also be looked at as a slap hitter. His walk rate was low which lead to a average OBP. You earned a new sub.
Appreciate the sub! Love ichiro also. I think he would have more value today tbh because he was an elite elite defender and a really good base runner 2 things that Luis isn’t a plus at
Simple answer: Luis Arraez is the best contact hitter in MLB and it's not close. He doesn't strike out and he puts the ball in play. However, the problem is he is a 1 tool player. He doesn't hit for power. He doesn't run the bases, and he doesn't field well, but if there were 2 outs and a runner on 3rd base in the bottom of the 9th in a tied game 7 of the world series and a single would win the game, I would take Arraez over any other hitter in MLB, even Judge and Othani. (not saying he is anywhere as good as an overall player as Judge or Othani) but in that particular situation I would take Arraez over them.
Great thoughtful post -really drills down on what is important these days in terms of finding good baseball hitters. I also agree with you that Cleveland would be a great landing spot for Luis Arraez .
SInce you are discussing this strange phenomenon, I recommend taking a look at the Mets bizarre decision to trade Lance Johnson after his lone full season with the team (1996) when broke club records for most hits (227) 3Bs (21) and also stole 50 bases. His BA was .333 and, as lead hitter, stimulated the greatest season for Mets offense ever: Todd Hundley set new record for most HRs (41); Bernard Gilkey set team records of 2Bs (44) and RBIs (117). In my opinion, it was LJ's slap hitting that made everyone else better. True story. As a Mets fan I'm still scratching my head.
Yeah, Arráez is a bad defender, bad base runner but hitting ahead of Judge will make for a lot of two-run homers. He's also better then what the Yankees have now. Brendan Donovan would be the better solution for leadoff but I know what the Cardinals would want for him. I enjoyed the post Kris, it got me thinking.
Luis is the best pure hitter/contact hitter since Tony Gwynn. He and most in todays game aren’t gonna wow you with RBI’s if they don’t hit for power. Most guys at the bottom of most lineups today are the 200+ k guys. There’s NOT a better pure contact bat in the game today. Station to station with 40ish doubles a year
The thing with Arraez is that 2024 was a down season For him, at least compared to his carrer avereges, plus he was dealing with a wrist issue that needed surgery. I do understand the "low" OBP compared to his batting averege, but since 2022 only 11 playes have a higher OBP than him. BTW i like youre Brendan Donovan idea since he is #14 in that list that i just mentioned. Really liked the video
Don’t disagree with anything you said! I think he would just have more value somewhere else tbh and I’m big on run prevention also for the final infielder. Also thank you much. Working on another video here now 🫡
Why is everyone talking about him as if he would be a leadoff hitter? That's the worst spot to play him, because he is a base clogged due to low speed. If we get him, bat him BEHIND Judge, not in front of him. Judge gets on base (excluding homers) around 200 times. if he's on first from a walk, Arraez will move him to third around 30% of the time. If Judge hits a double, Arraez will drive him in 30% of the time. He would be the perfect guy to bat behind Judge.
Honestly he needs to be behind a high Obp guy. So this makes sense. The leadoff hitter stuff comes from the Yankees need for one and the sterotypes around high average guys
We don't need him to lead off, that's true. But instead of thinking of him as a leadoff hitter, think of him as protection for Judge. You want to walk Judge? Okay, Arraez will knock him over to third like 30% of the time. If they put him in the right spot, he's actually an ideal pickup.
@snerdterguson yea but with his fielding, he's a liability, and he's not a #3 hitter. The #3 hitter has to bring judge in. The 3 spot needs to be a slugger which he is not.
Is he perfect? Of course not. They need a lead off hitter and if every hit he gets is a single, he’d be on base for the middle of the lineup. And what is their alternative? The other ex Padre Kim? You get a plus defender who hits .230
I would prefer Kim. They are in the same ball park in terms of on base percentage and Kim is a plus plus defender and fills the need for second. But i definitely understand the interest in Luis! I mean shoot not often do teams get the chance to trade for batting champions
He would be awful as leadoff because he's just too slow. I really don't understand why everyone is stuck on the idea of him leading off. Instead think of what value there is to a guy batting behind Judge who bats .320 Behind Judge, he would be a great fit.
Really wanted to focus this video on why I believe the report about the Yankees not viewing him as a fit even though they have been linked. As always thank you for stopping by 🫡🫡

I met the guy in NYC he was really chill and I was very awkward he doesn't seem selfish I hope he sees more success
You met Luis?

Thank you I appreciate the comment and the watch!! Baseball is such an interesting sport because of all the layers in hitting and pitching

I will absolutely dig into it!!
Great video and 100% agree with everything you said. Great content I just subscribed.
thank you so much! welcome to the journey

Definitely an interesting player! Thank you for tuning in
That was a really great video and you have a good voice for narration. Your video was on my recommendation page. I hope to see your page explode
This means a lot. Just getting started and hopeful for the best thank you
@@KrisandPatI’d like to see someone talk about the A’s they’re interesting because they’re making moves despite having no viable plan for the future

Why do you think nobody really wants him? Have we just passed that by?
Wow that comparison to Witt Jr. was eye-opening 😮
Wild isn’t it!!
Luis would be great in New York.

@@KrisandPat Agreed, if he were a good/average fielder it would be a different story.
Looking forward to the new video
I appreciate you! If he was a good fielder it would change everything. Also new video just dropped 🫡

Facts! We do not need him to lead off.
Tried to lay it out. I just can’t get excited and want to believe the Yankees don’t view him as a fit
And we definitely don't need his glove. Good shows my guy.

I think he's a better number 2 or 3 hitter tou need someone that can steal a ton of bags as the leasoff hitter
He gets on base and doesn't strike out😊
He just signed a new contract for 2025 and not with the Yankees!
There are rumors about him being traded because I believe this is his walk year
Probably got recommended because I watch Yankees content
I hope that’s a good thing 😅😅
I just struck gold on this account
Means a lot!!
@ keep it up my guy 💪💪
woba ain’t xbabip. What are you talkin’ about?
Weighted on base lol I was bugging at the end of a long day. My mistake lol
You guys aren’t getting him so don’t worry

Kim also walks a lot, steals a bunch of bags, and has about 15-HR power.
