This video is how I started playing guitar with a looper. Thanks to your explanations, I progressed a lot and this is always a great pleasure to play guitar ! Thanks Dave !
I recomend using PC and software because you can record whole songs with chorus, bridge, intro... not only looping in one section of a song. So composing songs is also a interesting thing
Be careful … that thing is BLINKING!😮…😂 Just purchased the new iPad, so having the “fun” task of setting it up … always a celebratory experience 😊. Not … Still, came across this video and put it directly into my “Dave Simpson - guitarinaire” [a not so obvious mashup of guitarist extraordinaire - or future guitarist Millionaire 🤷♂️) folder. Cheers/ Slainte and God bless, my friend. (Still in my thoughts and prayers … keep letting the Spirit move through you. Hi Dave brilliant love how you keep everything simple and not complicate anything, its a pleasure watching you sharing you're idea,s and everything with all us lucky you tubers
What an outro jam! So melodious. Wonderful! Really nice with the wah. Great skills. Seems like you really gel with that guitar. What a guitar, what a player!
It is really great to see how you go about this. I definitely learned a few things that I'm going to start working on. Thanks for posting and thanks for the inspiration!!
I like to separate my backing/loops with the use of an ABY switch and 2 amps or PA mixer. I run my pedalboard in front of the ABY switch. I have the Looper/backing track devices out of either A or B outputs running to one of the amps then switch to the opposite channel/amp for melody this way you have better fidelity instead of having all of it going into one amp with competing frequencies, etc.
Those Boss Loopers are really nice!! I have an RC-5 and it works like a champ! Loads of inputs and nice sounding drum machine. Dave you outdid yourself on this, very nice groove you had going there Bro!! Great playing as always! 👍
Mel9 has added so much to my backing tracks in such a wonderful way 😎👍 Forever thankful to you for turning me on to it's possibilities 😎👍 😎👍❤🖖 Love Brother
If you don't mind me saying, I would like to add for anyone looking for a looper, that I use the Mooer GrooveLoop pedal. It has 3 modes 1-looper 2-choice of drumtracks from rock to jazz etc that you can play alongside and 3- is the option to create a guitar and a drum loop which you can then play to. It is inexpensive, or was, and it works great. The Mooer GrooveLoop
It’s about as organic as it gets!!! You my friend are full on inspiration 🙌. Adore ya to bits my dude; hope all’s well. Talk to ya tomorrow when you get to my world (pedals!!!!).
A Boss street cube to run the drums/synth/bass line out of would do wonders. I am currently doing what you are by running it through the one amp/speaker but have had a set up with both and having a seperate channel for the rhythm section is king :)
Simple is never stupid. Stupid is to refuse to work within your known limitations and bend reality your way even at the expense of others. And Oh ... the magic carpets is a great frame for the music! Did you move or did you move the camera? :D Also ... the music is surreal!
Hi dave...great video as usual mate....im interested in how u make your videos...what do you record them on...and what software do u use to edit them...thanks dave.hope u well n good...spring is kinda hear...hope ya enjoying the sun 🌞
Great vid Dave, I use a Trio + for my backing drums and bass but may have to upgrade at some point to the Boss that you use, though think both have their place makes playing so much more fun and certainly helps improve my timing. Love the channel mate cheers for doing these vids!
Great vid Thats i do with my drum covers Mics to Mixer to Zoom Q4 line in. Do you combine the ZOOM Q mics along with one of the Q8 s inputs at the same time? Thank you Dave.
This is what I need to get to the next level..I have a tiny crate ampthat I can run TH-cam tracks and play along but idnt play that amp much and so.times it dosnt work well it's an old amp..may b 20 years
forgive my ignorance but if this is all going through the front of the amp why doesn't the tone change when you switch on a pedal? or does it send two signals to the amp?
The tone doesn't change because he'll put his looper at the end of the chain, at that point once the sound is captured the loop will carry on even if you unplug all the pedals/ the guitar that made the loop in the first place.
Quick question: I know you go straight into the amp. I do that too, but everytime I use the looper mode of my line 6 DL4 and play to it, the loop gets really quiet and gets washed away buy the things I play over it. Could anyone help me? :)
@@intensedad2827 idk about the ditto, but the boss rc3 has a concentric pot you can use to balance loop level with input and its stereo, so if you don't want everything running from one amp you can connect each channel to a different amp, and your guitar through an aby -> rc3. Record your loop to the one channel and switch to the other channel to play through the second amp.
Hey Dave how do you get such good quality video with your q8? Any lighting tips? I get great sound but awful video quality even on the highest setting.
Simple is smart, but you’re no stupid. I bet you’d find some really interesting melodic pathways if you did something a tiny bit more with your rhythm tracks. I’m think dinosaur jr. as an example. So much of his solos unique sound are because of his well laid backing tracks. great video!
Careful, Dave... the copyright gods of youtube might catch that one. To those who dont know what Im talking about... I suggest you Look On 😉😉 P.s. i put my backing tracks together the same way.. wonder where I learned that! 🤣
No big fat _looper_ pedal with 1..2 dozens of knobs for different chord sections and what not? Because that's nothing you need, or because of the (from that I gather so far) exponentially increasing price per added button on a looper pedal? I played around with a relatively simple NUX looper pedal. It's fun for a while, but it feels like one should be able to do so much more with them... Have you ever thought, when fiddling with a looper: "Now, If I could do this or that, that would be cool. But the thing can't do it"? If so, do tell me. I am toying with the notion of DIYing a looper based on that huge Behringer aluminum MIDI floor pedal with lotsa knobs and 2 expression pedals. What I need is some extra motivation, and input from a "real guitar player (TM)" for things that would be cool for such a machine to be able to do. (I cannot make products, but I can make open source projects with easily available parts, as far as that goes currently; and/or kits)
I never get tired of seeing the wizard behind his curtain. Thank you for sharing how you do what you Dave - You're an inspiration.
Stunning tune, these tutorials are so great, you don't know what you don't know, until you know.

Always love your playing Dave....Well done man!
82 bpm is my sweet spot....I have an RC 5 that I'm loving and just getting around on
The gravy was a flowin'
Love everything that has to do with pedals , great video dave!!! been waiting for this one for a while !!
Thank you Dave, very helpful video, especially as you keep it so simple - it fits my old mind :)
Those chords remind me of Look On
You make it look easy, I take around 3-4 times to get everything in sync,
You make it seem so simple just pure talent 🙂 loved the outro
Nice one Sir, lovely little insight.

@@thedavesimpson thanks mate..have a good bud
This is so epic, I always wondered how you do the backing tracks. I am gonna need a pedal like that
I’ve been waiting for this video for a while. Thanks for the great info.
I like this room. Where do you buy those wall coverings I want one for my jam space
Thank you guitar wizard..thank you
Nice sparkly purple spider!
This is great stuff Dave, I got a boss RC3 but just can’t get on with it the one you have seems more versatile is that the case.
I hope you get to see/meet JF on this upcoming tour!❤️
I would like that but it definitely won't happen. Sadly.
I thought you used software!😮 Great playing thanks Dave!🙂
Nope. :)
Great insight into your work, marah, looks like you had an attentive audience member to, Pete the purple 🕷🕸, music as always outstanding thank you.
thank you dave! reverb "trick" is cool 😎 i use the ehx B9 pedal ...the pedal "fakes" a bass track ;) but think the ehx Mel9 is also very useful...

Amazing Dave! 🤘🤘🤘
That outro though 😮
Thank you very much. :)
Thanks for sharing brother I’m with ya on staying in the same key E MINOR ..is their any other?🤪
Have you tried/seen the Donner Circle Looper? It looks like an interesting cheap (£90) alternative looper+drums to that Boss one.
Dave I'd really consider getting a roland gr 55, just got one and I'm astonished at how good it sounds, I'm sure you could put one to good use.
Freakkkkkin awesome man…..if I could play half as good as that before I shuttle off this mortal coil I’ll die a happy man…
Can someone please tell me how to use the zoom in a pedal chain as it’s not true bypass. Thank you 🏴✌️
Ah nice! I didn't see you got the Chapman Limited Edition!
Dave,
You would love the new Boss Synth pedal mate 😎👍
Great vid Thats i do with my drum covers Mics to Mixer to Zoom Q4 line in. Do you combine the ZOOM Q mics along with one of the Q8 s inputs at the same time? Thank you Dave.
I just use one input and one mic. :)
That was very useful! Great playing (as always), but the purple object in the foreground, staring into my soul, was somewhat distracting.....😁
That's really impressive

“hey im stupid”… I resemble that remark😜
I'll need to do a video with my RC10R showcasing the oswald strat I received a month ago :).
Another cool vid. I do the same thing. But Ill take heed in keeping it simple.

I have a video about that I did years ago when i used my dl4 but basically i just turn down my pedals accordingly. :)
@@thedavesimpson thanks for the answer! :) do you run into this problem with your boss looper or with the ditto looper? :)

That is what I do. Lol I have the RC-5 though. It's not as great as the 10, but thank goodness it has a drum though.

I don't have a bass in them. :)

Is that a chapman? What model? Looks alot like Beas

very cool
