    For those asking: the TS100 is a good iron and has lots of fans but I don't feel that this iron is a competitor or replacement for an all-in-one iron like that. This is a very compact portable replacement for a 'soldering station' that can use those T12 tips and do what my Weller can for a lot less money. Happy flying!

      You should try TS100 when you have the chance. Because it is not about feelings, it is about technology I guess, it has all settings that bulky thing is have and more except T12 tips compatibility.

    Very nice station. This is the sort of thing that can replace your whole big bench station, and active soldering tips are 100% the way to go. You can also fancy it up by getting the Hakko handle from the FX9501 station that uses the same tips, it makes the distance to the tip shorter, but is pricey.
    I think my only complaint on this station (and it's really nit-picky) is that I think the plugs should be on the sides rather than front and back. That way it would be sort of "in-line" and I think a little less clunky to have moving around on your bench or wherever you are working since it's not heavy and won't stay firmly planted. That OLED is a big step up from the KSGER T12 stations that have been around for a while.
    Also, beware buying cheapo imitation T12 tips. The real Hakko ones are good, the copies often don't last very long. But hey, they're also cheap, so you might break even.

    I use a mini soldering iron similar to this. Both with XT60 power cable, and one that plugs in to a 16-24V DC power adaptor coming from AC mains at the workbench. It's all I use.
    The pouch case included with this unit (in video) is a very pragmatic.

    The Pinecil is now available on Amazon for $35. I know it’s more like a TS-100 than this Sequre station, but I feel like the Pinecil will be the hot fpv solder item this year.

    The T12 tips are an advantage over the TS100. I'm using two bigger (with AC power supply) T12 China stations and already have a lot of these tips. But I think the form factor is a little bit weird. It would have made more sense to connect the wires to the short sides, so basically put the station "in line".

    I like the look of this unit. I bought a Lidl Parkside (German) battery soldering iron a couple of years ago. It's powered by two AA batteries and will run on them for a couple of hours before needing another couple of batteries. It's a little slow warming up, but maintains it's heat between power ups. The main advantage was not having to refill it, or recharge it. Running Sequre MSS12 on a Lipo has to be a bonus for run time.

    Just ordered a MSS12 2 days ago and came across your review this afternoon! I don't need one to work outside of the house, so have ordered the mains powered Pro version. No idea how long it will take to arrive as I couldn't find one anywhere in the UK so ordered direct from Sequre (China). I bought the kit with the 4 tips included which was £51.41, also ordered that heavy duty tip (£5.54) and with 10% discount + shipping, the whole thing came to £57.59. I guess I might get collared for VAT on that though. Never had a temp controlled iron before so I need to find a source of the best temperatures to use for different situations. Thanks for the Video - Dave.

    I love the one knob on that Sequre iron for adjusting the temperature. For heavy-duty heating power and portability, it is hard to beat a butane soldering iron. You can also turn them down and do small jobs. They heat up in just a few seconds. I picked up a really nice set at Lidl for about 25euros, similar to the "Weller WP3EU Butane Gas Operated Soldering Iron Set with Piezo Ignition", going for 66 euros on amzon UK. Bonus: it comes with a T-shaped nozzle that directs the flow of hot air in a perfect way to heatshrink a connection.

    Looks promising but the two-piece construction seems more awkward and harder to carry than the TS100 / SQ01 where power connects directly into the handle of the iron.

    Hi Mr. P Great video and review of the Sequre soldering iron. I haven't purchased a portable one yet but I have been thinking about it, I just don't like going home to fix a broken wire and then go back to flying. Thanks again for the information

    You need to compare this to a TS100/SQ-001 they are both the same. They also work amazingly well with the alternative firmware.

      @@Painless360 in terms of power would you say they are comparable?
      By T12 I guess that means the length? What is preferable about them (vs the ts100's tips) are they better or just more common / easier to get?

    I have a KSGER T12 that I've heavily modified (wanted a project and now I like it even better than the high end Hakko equipment I use at work). Only complaint I've had is the handles available for it. The handle you show for this one looks really nice. From your experience, does it hold the tip nice and snug? I'm honestly not impressed with how loosely the T12 tips fit into the FX9501 handle that I ordered separately.

    I can't find the actual power input specs for this anywhere. On their website they mention 25v but then reference 24v/65w later on the page. No amps are ever mentioned. Am I aiming for the 24v/2.7a adapters? Think it will pull all 3amps from a 24v/72w adapter?

    Would be nice to know quality in the long run and also spare part availability. Also TS100 vs these T12 tips. Any advantages of T12 in construction? Power was mentioned. But I think the ts100 has the same power. So what's the advantage to move the electronics to a separate unit really? More reliable?
    I have two TS100 and one just stopped working also a friend of mine had a ts100 tip stop working... So quality does not seam so good. So when I saw this. I'm like should I invest in this and or get another ts100 and use my existing tips...

    • @Painless360

      This is the first unit from this manufacturer so can't comment on the longevity of the product. There are lots of other videos about other soldering stations from SEQURE and the consensus seems to be a very good one. That was one of the reasons I got this in to try. See my pinned comment for comparisons with the TS100.

    • @rcfreakamit
      @rcfreakamit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      True, sort of :) I think in order to be complete this review really should include a direct comparison to the TS100 as so many of us already have TS100 soldering irons.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're happy with the TS100 then why change? If you have something like the the lower powered 'wand' soldering iron units or something that struggles with the bigger soldering jobs then then this is a nice unit for a lot less than Weller money.. Happy flying!

    Does an equivalent of this but for hot air shrinking of plastic exist? I have not seen one but may be searching badly. It is only a matter of time till I do some damage using a cigarette lighter.

    • @eberger02
      @eberger02 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I necessarily air based. I’m guessing it is just the heat. I was thinking more an equivalent of one of those things infra-red heater panels I have but more focused and with the lower voltage of a battery. Haven’t opened mine up, but I’m guessing the voltage is dropped down and not 230V by the time it hits the infrared heating bit.

      I found something UNOYX Li-ION. For the price though I could buy lots of cigarette lighters. Feels like this device should have a low temperature distinct heating tip though.
