    Another great video. That was quite a dangerous location, so not impressed with the Police refusing to come out due to 'lack of resources'. Not the poor customer's fault was it.

    Must say though, you definitely need more led’s and rear facing work lights on this old girl. Love watching your channel as I have only just found you.

    Brilliant video. However there is a couple of things: the first one is there a way you can turn the bright light off at the beginning of the video with the animation. The second thing to do with the merc 4x4, you could (if you wanted) look into replacing the old work lights with newer led ones which would light up alot more and probably make your job slightly easier at night. Other than those amazing job 🙂😎

    I can see the next thing for recovery operators is having to provide your own traffic management due Police not wanting to respond.

      We have that problem in Canada at least in Ontario anyway. OPP show up for a wreck, decide it's too dangerous to remove a vehicle at night, and leave it in the ditch. Then try and get traffic control later. Only options are the highway contractor (which costs money and due to staffing hard to schedule for) or the police. Recently the police have been occasionally charging for traffic control as well. Hard to add it to our invoice for the insurance company or owner to pay when we don't see the police invoice for like 9 months. It's getting ridiculous, there have been vehicles sitting in the ditch for months before they can be recovered. I feel bad for the owner because if they have coverage for a rental it's not for very long. We simply do not have the extra staff to do the traffic control. I believe you need specific training and possibly insurance to provide traffic control as well.

    • @connorlee5873
      @connorlee5873 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @juliogonzo2718 yes you do and it's not a viable cost for part Time, the one recovery company in the UK that I know that setup his traffic management business for his recovery business uses it for construction aswell so he will have regular income coming in to keep the traffic management business going

    • @geko7844
      @geko7844 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately, it’s not a case of not wanting to respond. In fact, most cops would far rather attend a job like doing some traffic control, than one which results in hours of paperwork.
      The problem is that resources are stretched to their thinnest point ever. The media love to cover the NHS and other public services, but rarely how fu**ed the police are - and the police can’t admit it either.
      Where I live, is a relatively large area, encompassing 1200 square miles, 127,000 people and 4 large towns. At best, there’s 4 response officers covering this area. Unfortunately, the government are quite happy to let people blame the police, because it deflects responsibility from them. Blame the source of the problem, not people doing their absolute best; doing a difficult job in impossible circumstances.

    In South Australia our guidelines for warning devices (Cones) stipulate that 1.5 times the speed of the roadway in Kilometres per Hour, results in the minimal distance required for the first warning device; thus a 60 Kilometres per Hour Roadway, Requires the first warning device be a minimum of 90 Metres from the obstruction.
    On a 100 Kilometre per Hour Roadway the minimum distance required would be 150 Metres.
    Thus the setting up of a proper safe zone around an incident can be both time and cone intensive.

    Astounding, we were in an almost identical situation on a hard shoulder in Ireland towing our caravan and the insurance breakdown people suggested they recover the car and leave the caravan on the motorway until we could get someone else to collect it, they also said we would have to get someone to collect our dogs from the roadside or leave them in the caravan, absolute joke. Eventually, after 5 hours, they sent out a young lad in a Honda civic with a code reader and a jump pack and by some miracle the car started when he reset the codes.

    The moaning car drover (not a typo, does not deserve the title driver) should be referred to the common sense Highway Code rule. You should always drive at such a speed that you can stop safely well within the distance you can see, or reasonably expect, to be clear. Just someone to laugh at before their inevitable premature funeral.

    Although I've now ceased owning and operating a vehicle recovery and parking operation we always charged for a stand-off vehicle as part of the safety assured, operations detailed within a documented safe working process. All courts, as the majority of our charges were recovered from liable insurance companies, agreed the charged were fair, justified and hence a lawful liability due from the insurers who indemnified the liable party for the causation of the vehicle's need to be safely recovered. Alas, majority of consumers won't care so long as the price is low, low or lower still! Hence, secure park vehicle until charhes paid in full. #Part of the business dealing with cheapskates who argue rather than appreciate facts of the job.
