You'd have needed to call the 999 police to block the road which could have taken resources from an ongoing accident elsewhere, and anyway it was daytime in good light too. Farmer could have brought a telehandler out but it would have ruined much more of the crop. So good on you for managing that job on your own and getting in some good cardio... Put up some decisive-moment TH-cam shorts to boost your stats.

I am amazed that the wheels were still round. My daughter had a Peugeot 107 and the wheels on that were like paper. We couldn't source one from a scrapyard and had to buy new to replace one that the previous owner, PSA Finance (ie Peugeot) had left as spare but which would not hold air because it had been bodged with filler paste.

That was a good recovery, and I've seen a few. I was on patrol early one Sunday morning when I noticed a back axle with both back wheels sitting on top of a hedge. I pulled over and got out to have a closer look and, there in the field, was a blue Metro, more or less intact, other than missing a back axle. A quick enquiry revealed the young female driver had taken the bend too fast: quite how she managed to vault the hedge remained a mystery.

It is when you have to collect 2 -3 parts of one vehicle. No other way of collecting for you other than the way you did the job. It came out quite easily as could have court stumps. I can't believe the lad had some hope the car would be repaired.
I left the road backwards last month after spinning on a patch of diesel, the rear of my M140i hit a tree.

You should get a tonne bag for collecting up the debris after the crash , they fold flat when empty so take up little space . This being a write off no problem with putting the bits in the rear but I hate it when recovery drivers jam bumpers into the back of the car that's not damaged .

the difference in body deformation of small cars is so vast between my + your generation of recoveries, definitely a vast improvement in survivability, that crash wasn't even deemed hard enough for airbag deployment...
did an XR2 [with 6 in] that was in 3 pieces, a mitzi gallant [4 in] 5 pieces, the engine in a tree
the name of that local country road - hazard lane... nice little earner over the years

@GDBRescueandrecovery Love these videos, few abandoned cars today between Lichfield A5 police station roundabout heading towards barton green that flooded road that's closed if you heard. Not sure what B road it was but worst i've seen it in years I got through but many were stuck on top of those abaonded cars. Half expected to see you guys there after counting 6 cars unattended some of which have smashed windows and are proper flooded. Then 4 cars with people stuck with water going in, crazy roads near these rivers around staffordshire. I personally regretted going down the road after. but everyone ignores the signs and some small cars took too much of a chance. It started off not too bad then it was litera river and lake at parts of the road . Keep up the videos, amazing content man. Love seeing how you adapt to each case and its all different each time must be a really rewarding job full of surprises.

When I was 18 I wrote my mum's car off into a park /field through too fences and a wall learned a lesson, but my mum was not happy at all I told her I dropped my food on the floor bent down to get it before it spiled and lost control. Thought it was a better excuse. What actually happened was a stunning girl was walking in a tennis skirt on the opposite side and the HGV in front blew it up, and she was not wearing anything under, and I crashed. 20 years later, am married to the sister of the girl who made me crash. Talk about a rock and a hard place.
