Using an lfo as an envelope to bend the pitch is also very nice and clean. I also think it's easier to shape the lfo than the automation lane. Use a macro for the amount to switch between gliding and flat.
im am trying to figure out how hujaboy is making is glide basslines, like in his and striders tracks "enter" and "deepest of mysteries". maybe this is the trick? i have to try tomorrow. but maybe that would be a nice topic for a video? :)
Portamento doesnt care about the length of the overlap. The note-on (in midi terms) triggers the start of the glide, the initial note is ignored at that point unless you release the second note first, then it will glide back to the first note
