    In the EQ parts of this video it isn't necessary to mention this but if you guys want to mess around with the low frequencies with cuts or narrow boosts the EQ Eight Device can be changed to Hi-Quality by right clicking and changing the option. Hi-Quality mode will put the EQ in natural phase otherwise it will be zero latency which can mess up the phase.

    I think as Bitwig users, we should be using Abelton along side. I honestly think they compliment each other and not nessisarily compete or seem redundant. Abelton has some majestic out of the box Midi FX (especially what is to come in Abelton 12), all those rad Max for live stuff, plus better controller support over all, wher as Bitwig is about the inventiveness with the grid, modulation, strange midi FX and serendipity with the magical operators and such. I plan on getting Abelton at some point soon just to have more options

    • @DashGlitch

      @@DashGlitch Cheers for a reply to a boring question! I was leaning towards Ableton just because of the amount of learning resources out there but seeing as you've released a bitwig course that might be a good route to go down.. Renoise looks interesting but overall less versatile would you say? I've got a Digitakt and like the step sequencer approach.

    I recommend using bass cabinet impulse response or real bass cabinet to give character and better sound for bass.

    • @DashGlitch

      For me that tends to saturate the sound and make it a bit muddy and also it resonates at specific frequencies depending on the size of the cabinet, so it might work for some notes but maybe not so good for others. I'd just alter the harmonics in the synthesizer to fit your taste.

  • @Vince0ffer

    Would it fair to say it is important to learn about all the sounds and their waves before diving in in this detail?

    • @DashGlitch

      Yea and no, bass is pretty important and if you have a good grasp of it, you can throw anything on top and it will 50/50 be a banger haha

    Vital has a OSC manipulator called "phase dispersion" wich you can resample to a wavetable

    • @DashGlitch

      It sounds pretty bad for bass though, did you try it?

    • @aidennymes6335

      @@DashGlitch you are right. just using the modifier doesn't do the trick but the magic in the resampling part. I actually did go a step further and am now manually phase dispersing my saw harmonics in the harmonics editor. most of the time I just have to manually adjust the first few harmonics and it sounds great if you get the hang out of it.

    im wondering that you dont use the EQ that much. fo example im useing the EQ to lowcut the bassline on its rootkey.
    i tought the lowest space is for the kick so i seperate it from the bassline evrytime.
    fo example if the rootkey of my bassline is F im doing a 48x lowcut at 43.654Hz.
    it feels much "cleaner" and im doing it all the time and now im asking myself if its wrong.

    • @DashGlitch

      If you synthesize a sound at the root, there is nothing that exists below it, and no need to EQ it, I find it much better to adjust the envelope to remove any "boominess" etc. The EQ will only serve to add some phase difference or post/pre-ring, if you like that it's fine but I prefer to have control inside the synthesizer for this

    Btw Bass done by drift is also easy

    • @DashGlitch

      I didn't find it very accurate to be honest, the envelopes were a bit unstable and phase retrigger wasn't on the start point every time, it worked better for synth sounds for me. Operator or Wavetable are much more accurate, however for more modern sound I like wavetable import of processed final bass sound, and the ability to adjust the phase there-after.
