I just got my new paper Bible after having retired my old one a couple of years ago cuz it was falling apart. Having the Bible app was convenient and all, but I really missed being able to jot down notes or short poems that came to me as I was reading. It's much harder to do on a phone.
That video clip was the channel sunday cool tees, and they’re amazing!

Actually, my daughter was *given* a car (though not new) by a family in her church.
@@harveyabel1354 by a family IN her church, NOT by the church itself. That was very nice of that FAMILY to do that for her yes, but I've known churches to turn away people in need before. And not everyone can afford to do these types of good deeds for people, and not everyone wants to for that matter. I would if I could, without hesitation, but then I don't follow any beliefs other than to treat people as you yourself would want to be treated. My take is that your beliefs don't make you a good person, your actions do. This above statement that you commented on is not mine by the way, but it certainly holds true for the most part with the majority of churches. That's not what their purpose was intended for anyway, for them to collect money (tithes) from people and use it for their own personal betterment is simply the wrong thing to do. Mega churches are very bad about this sort of behavior.

My pastor hasn't the faintest idea how much people tithe, and that's as should be.
@@harveyabel1354 indeed. It isn't intended for the pastors and their needs, but rather the community to which they serve. It sickens me to see these huge crosses built, knowing how much was wasted on their construction, when that money could have gone for much better uses in the community. These types of churches should be taxed, since they obviously have enough thoughtlessness to flaunt their intake of money. If the parishioners have no better sense of use for these funds than that they certainly do not need to be overseeing the church.

I gather from Josh's facial expressions that he isn't happy with prejudice against electronic Bibles.
I can understand that, as someone who has read through the whole Bible multiple times on my phone. But I do think there is something worthwhile about having the Bible in a form that is free from any other distractions, that serves only that one specific purpose, that isn't subject to any other tracking technology and that isn't dependent on anything else (including power) to work. Reading the Bible via hard copy is an activity that says you only have one focus of your attention right now, and it's 100% dedicated to spending time with God. I think it also allows for certain types of spatial memory that you don't get in an electronic copy that scrolls. There's something tactile about a physical Bible that is lost in the electronic experience. My $0.02.
That's kind of how I feel about it. I use my phone when I don't have a physical Bible, or I want to listen to it while driving or working, but there is something meaningful about having a book in your hands. Maybe it's because that book will always be what it is-- if I'm reading a Bible, that physical object will always be a Bible, whereas the phone in my hands is at times presenting Scripture, other times a game, other times social media, and other times a means of communication. There are other physical books, but they are separate objects, that exist simultaneously but physically separate from each other, whereas the phone contains all those different things in one object that you hold (for the most part) the same way, in your hands. And so reading a physical book is always a different experience from reading on an electronic device.
On the other hand, though, having a little bit of a prejudice isn't really a good thing. I think we should seriously encourage and recommend having a physical Bible to read (and providing one to those who don't have one), but what matters is that people are seeking Christ and listening to His words.
Because the toddler and baby reach out to rip the pages of the paper Bible. I may be able to get a glance at the verses on my app😂

@@fionafiona1146 Most homeschooling parents and kids I have known throughout my life are the exact opposite of that. There were a few I knew when I was a kid that didn't watch the news because they didn't have TVs but they still read the paper. That was prior to the internet being in every home though. I don't know any homeschooling parents that don't use the internet to stay informed. If someone is watching this then there isn't an excuse of ignorance. They have access to the same information as we do.

I have a guilty pleasure of watching "big family homestead" cooking videos and plenty mention how they intentionally isolate their children from the world or appreciate Menonitie Books because numbers below 1000 are so much more accessible/the limit of relevance for 8th grade... scaring me on behalf of some of their children and explaining some very disturbing positions I encountered.
@@fionafiona1146 Mennonites are a very small amount of the homeschooling population and I doubt that they care about back the blue. I cannot see any of the Mennonite families I've known to care about that enough to get offended. 🤷♀️ Haven't spoken to them in many years though, so I could be wrong.

It's not really my claim that the majority of homeschooling or Christians would strive to keep children naïve but that that might be a thing going on, including in a fraction of the audience of this channel.

I'm pretty sure it's from Horrible Histories, a BBC children's comedy show delving into the not-so-appealing things from history. The actor's definitely Simon Farnaby (One of the original six in it). I don't know about the original quote though. Hope this helps!
