The father of Tanner Cook, the 21-year-old who got shot and seriously hurt over the weekend while reportedly making a TH-cam prank video at Dulles Town Center Mall, is speaking out to 7News.
31-year-old Alan Colie of Leesburg is now under arrest and charged with multiple felonies after the incident.

Harassing a stranger or making them feel threatened or that they’re being robbed isn’t funny - it’s creepy, entitled and abusive. You never know what a stranger might be going through or their background. Especially if they’ve ever been attacked before they will be on even higher guard.
It wasn't a matter of saying something that didn't make him laugh. Dude was pushing a phone in the guy's face having the phone insult him. This is provocation.

@@BennoTheTruth for sure. As a person who's lost a family member, I can't emphasize how final and devastating having another family member of mine gunned down would be. No matter who instigated it. It is a huge deal. Killing another person is a huge deal. An overreaction.The father must be incredibly thankful and a bit out of his wits having worried about his son. So there's love there. The shooting was definitely an overreaction. But also a predictable one.
The son was being a total asshole. We should seek to help those around us that actually need the help, not provoke and upset them to make money on TH-cam. Not provoke them into snapping and gunning other people down and going to jail for the rest of their lives. What angers me is the TH-camr is probably going to keep making TH-cam content because of the monetization incentive to keep doing so. While the person he upset into shooting him is going to end up spending years behind bars.
The TH-camr should have his channel suspended. The shooter deserves leniency on his sentence and possibly mental health resources.
I'm upset this TH-camr can now defend himself as a victim of this thing and landed a person that just wanted to be left alone in jail. But I'm glad nobody's son died.

I'm not looking at the reality of it, but through some weird internet lens where the consequences and people aren't real. The only thing with valence is some narrative where an annoying internet person gets shut down. When it comes to real life, this internet lens is toxic and wrong.
The reality: Kid does something to the wrong person. The person overreacts and commits a felony. Almost kills him. That was not a proportional response and he's mentally ill for reacting that way.

To Tanner's father , I happen to be one of the unfortunate victims of Tanner, and his friend prank here in Vegas.
I was working solo in my store when they decided to come in to attempt to steal a mattress. Although at the time I was concerned or maybe a little scared, I asked Tanner, " Why did he think it was okay to do this?"
Instead of answering me, he left along with his friend.
I hope Tanner has learned an important lesson to treat people as you'd like to be treated. I wish the best for your son and his future.
