  • Last month, a jury found Alan Colie not guilty of the most serious charges against him after shooting TH-cam prankster Tanner Cook at Dulles Town Center. The jury essentially found Colie not guilty of shooting Cook, but guilty of unlawfully firing a gun in an occupied building. Colie was denied bond and remains in jail until sentencing in December.

    Put yourself in Colie's position.
I genuinely believe that Colie might've truly believed that his life is in real danger, Colie didn't know that Tanner Cook was a "prank youtuber"(with an exceedingly dubious sense of "humor"), all he saw was a man quite larger in stature than him, with a sidekick, continously approaching him in a quite aggressive manner, repeatedly playing a vulgar audio message on the phone that seemed to indicate that the situation is inevitably going to escalate.
At that point in time Colie had no reason to expect that he will have a fair chance to draw his firearm and use it if Cook and his sidekick decide to assault him, which was likely no matter how much he'd "keep walking away and not let it get to him".
Cook presented himself as a persistent aggressor, with bizzare behavior, who was not backing down even when Colie kept moving away.
In Colie's position I too might've been very likely to believe that my life is in real danger.
All it would've took is a hard shove or a decently placed punch to knock Colie on his back, potentially inducing a severe traumatic brain injury or even death.
I'd say that with the information that Colie had at the time, and the percieved threat presented by Cook, I'd say that Colie acted in Self-Defense and made the best choice he could, with the limited information he had.
Yet the "justice" system decided to punish him and not the aggressor.

Lawyers are right. If he wasnt found guilty of shooting the "victim" then he should be free.

Pranking is not for everyone and in this video, it is clear that the TH-camr was in the wrong. You have to be able to know when to Stop, especially if this is the niche this TH-camr decides to traffic in. He is lucky to be alive. He messed with this man just for clicks, this man who was minding his own business is now in jail fighting for his freedom. Was it worth it? Well, the TH-camr went Viral as a result of this, and his number of followers increased. Was it worth it is a question best answered by the TH-camr.

Makes zero sense he didn't get charge for shooting someone but is being charge WHERE he shot the gun. Absolute clown world.
Police fire guns in or around the public all the time and in most cases they fire bullets near houses or apartments that can strike through walls.
    hope he gets probation.
