    The scariest thing about Diane IMO, is that she doesn't deny the crime because she had a mental break or schizophrenia or anything like that. I feel that she won't admit her crimes because she knows how horrible they are and it pisses her off that people think she's a murderer. The thought of her being seen as a child killer is actually WORSE to her than actually trying to kill her children. It is terrifying to think there are people like this in the world.

    I feel like she *knows* how horrifying what she did was, and it cracks through indirectly. But as someone commented in the previous segment of this hearing, there's something inside of her (something deeply dysfunctional, disturbed and biologically wired within her) that won't let her admit it. Ever. And that's what makes her dangerous. She will never, ever change.

      The sociopath or psychopath does NOT feel for the victim because they have no conscience. You want Downs to admit to the horror of what happened. What was going on was that her children were in her way of an affair she wanted to have with a man. You can compare her with Susan Smith, period.

    • @cjking4511
      @cjking4511 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Christi did retract her testimony already though and said “she does not know who shot her.” Realistically, it would be nearly impossible for Christi to have seen what happened because she was sleep. The problem with this case has always been lack of DNA evidence. DNA evidence proves whether or not who shot those kids. The fingerprints testing showing multiple fingerprints on the car is not enough evidence to conclude anything so DNA is the best way to make a conclusion

    “Someday” her kids will look back and ask why? Her kids are grown now, they have already lived with her evil for over 39 YEARS, they are not little children whom have yet to develops and mature, they are grown adults who have lived this their WHOLE LIVES knowing! So someday is come and gone. Yes they know The Who and I’m sure they would love to know why? But their mother will never give them that because even today it’s still all about HER! Her voicing any concern for them is feined because that is what she has learned all these years in therapy is that she needed to ACT more concerned for them. She is where she belongs FOREVER!

      I feel sad for them that they had to live and accept the fact that this is their mother. I remember as a kid I thought of my dad as an invincible fighter pilot hero. But as an adult I see he is a flawed human, can be domineering, but ultimately a good man.
      Generally kids see their parents in a positive light, so for them it must’ve been tough as kids seeing how disturbed this woman was then having to come to terms with all of this and finally coming to the conclusion that this lady is just broken.

An intelligent thinker that thinks she outsmarts all, yet she is seen right though. Although Arias had a couple jurors on her side..she was able to manipulate them. Personally, I prefer she doesn't care to mime remorse or guilt.
      My nephew was brutally murdered at age 2 in the early 00s. His murderer attempted to transparently pantomime some semblance of remorse, until sentencing was over and the judge stamped 25 to life on his admittance slip, that is of course. The sickening display of chicanery made the trial all the more terrible for all concerned.
      At least he'll never hurt another child with the same hand that swung that MagLight, as he no longer enjoys its use, or attachment to the rest of his arm that matter.

      @@MomMom4Cubs I should have mentioned that I was thinking of genuine remorse so my apologies if I didn't make that clear. These days I focus primarily on survivors of crimes and trauma-based disorders but for a decade I also worked with convicted felons. It was my experience during that decade that parole boards focused far too much on 'good behaviour' in correctional facilities coupled with expressions of apparent remorse* and frequently ignored warnings by clinicians who had assessed them and found they posed a very high risk of recidivism. This led to many dangerous and predatory individuals being released often only having served less than half the original sentences and *many were very adept at manipulation hence feigned remorse which parole board members mistakenly believed was genuine. The results were often catastrophic with many of those released committing even more violent crimes after being released. The behaviour of your nephew's murderer is unfortunately all too familiar to me and I am relieved he remains incarcerated. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your beloved nephew and the pain caused by that brutal murderer. May your nephew's memory be a blessing.

      Precisely. For argument's sake, I will agree that carjackings indeed happen. No one says they don't. What I do not agree with is the way she told it in her story. A real carjacker would've most likely shot HER, if anyone. And it would be a mortal wound too, not a flesh wound as in her forearm, since she was the adult, and both the one most physically capable of resisting him, and the one who could identify him later. As for the children, it is highly doubtful he'd have even been aware of their presence in the vehicle, because he'd be so dead set on getting a vehicle. Since it was night, and thus, dark, they'd have been hidden by the darkness, being below the windows. Once he became aware of their presence, he'd most likely have made them get out, since he wouldn't consider them a significant threat to him, and then driven off.

    Who really believes that Diane has written five books? I imagine that her writing would be like her speaking, verbal vomit, ramblings and circular logic, story constantly changing.

      One of Diane Downs' books is surprisingly on Thriftbooks. I didn't want to waste my money buying it, even though I knew none of the money would go to her. I called my local library to see if they had it, or if any other library in our county or state had it (I live in Indiana), and no one else did. It's called "Best Kept Secrets".

    The fact that she's been in prison for decades at this point and she still can't bring herself to admit what she did, tells me she's never come to terms with her actions, she feels no remorse for her actions and she's right where she belongs - in prison.

    Not once has she stated the killer is still out there.....😮 because she is the monster. Nobody has ever went after her mom or brother because she is the shooter. Making bikes for kids? She is insane to think she still thinks about being around kids or that her grown kids would want anything to do with her books. Diane Downs is the shooter of her kids.

  • @scrapperiam463
    @scrapperiam463 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    In my opinion, Danny knew his mom did it when he got to the hospital. The kids were traumatized by this event and she is lying about what the kids said about her doing it. She also had a visit with Christie at a local park allowed by her ex-husband against the order of the court. She has no remorse for this and has never admitted that she did that. She was not out sightseeing on a dark road after dark. Her claims of putting them first are so bogus that I want to laugh in her face, except it's too serious for that. Christie is right, she did do it.

      Actually, during the Oprah broadcast at which Ann Rule was present, Oprah says that Diane visited Christie in violation of the court order. Diane says, “Yah,” as though it’s nothing, and babbles from there about saying “mom things” to her surviving daughter.
