- On May 19, 1983, Diane Downs drove herself and her three children to an emergency room in Springfield, Oregon, saying she had been shot by a “bushy-haired man" who had tried to steal her car on a desolate road. Yet, cops determined it was Downs who actually killed her daughter and tried to kill her other two children because she said her boyfriend hated them. In 1989, Inside Edition was granted permission to interview Downs about her crimes from inside her prison cell. #InsideEdition

ℹ️ : the child that Diane had in prison was a girl she was adopted and her name was Becky. When she was a little bit older the adoptive parents told her about her being adopted and who her real mother was. ( what I believe was a big mistake in this case)
After hearing what a monster her mother was Becky went down a bad path, dropping out of high school and getting into drugs, and ended up having her son, Christian at only 17 years old.
She was later on homeless and pregnant again. To make story short she wrote Diane few letters, Diane wrote her back.
And than Becky found out such a horrible person her mother was, and that she is not like her mother at all.
So she put her life together again she stopped doing drugs. And is now on the way up, And we wish her to stay there
Hard for me to imagine this news would derail someone's life. Yes, her biological mom is a HORRIBLE person, and that would definitely be a lot to process, but if you're a good person, with a good life, finding out one or both of your parents aren't shouldn't turn you into a drug addict, teen mom, etc. There had to have been other factors.

Admittedly, it’s pretty hard for dads to get custody of their children in the United States, even when there’s proof that the mother is incompetent or at least far less competent than the father. So even if the courts had evidence that she was this sick it would have been likely that she still would have gotten them anyway.

Also, they were divorced within 8 years of being married. Not a healthy marriage in which one or both were not well. A sad situation for those kids.

@@MrTunes333 they were adopted by the case prosecutor. You can hear he didn’t want them when he said “the” kids and my or our kids. He was disconnected and probably didn’t think they were his due to her history of infidelity. He even said she was a crappy mom. He’s FOS because how can you allow a child to be mistreated?

What scares me most, these people seem completely dead in the eyes to their conscience. A normal person's eye give it away when they did wrong, but these evil people just look so open, so friendly, so no feeling guilt at all.

@@biggestboofer You have a point, but I don’t think in this horrific tragedy, that you’d refer to your stricken children in that way. It just doesn’t feel right. It’s a distancing description as opposed to using their names or even just saying “my” kids. An analogy would be calling your spouse 1) by her name 2) by “my wife” 3) by “their mother”. The last description shows the least emotional connection. Same with “the kids”.
