However I'm to sure if this is correct before saying the quote he said something along the lines of "our Emperor" which probably indicates that some of the facts are wrong.

I remember in one of the Payitaht Abdulhamid episodes, when Mehmet Pasha was wrongly accused of being the traitor so he decide to seek asylum in the German embassy and the ambassador said that Otto Von Bismarck said that. However I'm to sure if this is correct before saying the quote he said something along the lines of "our Emperor" which probably indicates that some of the facts are wrong.

@fish milk How do you think Turkey's identity would have evolved had the British occupied it? Say what you will about Ataturk's secularism (which some people would argue is a good thing), but he did modernize Turkey. Look at Syria or Iraq or other former British/French colonies in the region. Turkey is definitely better off then them and i think that is a direct result of Ataturk's rule.

He didn't achieve anything to be credited for in the first place. Atatürk and Abdülhamit arent comparable. Atatürk fought 4 wars on 11 fronts and saved the Turks from European imperialism. Meanwhile Abdülhamit didn't dare to step out of his palace. Stop learning history from a state sponsored drama serie and read a book
