The main reason I love Jonny Hawkins and the band is that I feel like there's someone else that shares the same mentality as I do. Being able to relate gives me reassurance.
I discovered Nothing More in 2015 I think when someone posted their song Jenny in Twitter. Was blown away by the song and I said to my hubbie, hey listen to this. This band is amazing. Just like me, he was blown away too and big fans every since. Seen them already 6 times live. Their concerts are BEYOND aMazing !!
In 2014 around when the self titled record came out, I heard them do an interview on Octane and then Here’s to the Heartache came on and I was blown away. What hooked me is their crazy style, strong dynamics, and equally strong melodies that stick in your brain all day long. So happy watching their trajectory ever since.
discovered these guys on youtube back in 2014 and was BLOWN AWAY, Im so happy their getting the recognition they deserve, cant believe its already been 10 years since then. Their manager hit me up on fb one time when they were in town opening for HellYeah and i commented something like oh have a great show, so bummed it was sold out id love to be there and their manager will hit me up and offered tickets and a chance to meet the guys….i saw the message 2 days AFTER the show 😂😂 ill regret that forever lol being a drummer who likes to sing myself they were just an inspiration right away, and still are. New album is PHENOMENAL
i listened to Nothing More back when Jenny was on the radio, and i was so blown away by their unique style i looked up their other music and just fell in love with the band. the album The Story we tell ourselves was the first album from any band where i loved every single song, loved it so much when they lost to concrete and gold by foo fighters i was pissed.
We used to have big house parties at my house back in 2007. Nothing More used to always come over for the after-party when they were in town after their shows. Jonny was the drummer at the time. Trey Graham was the lead singer. Josh was on guitar along with Mark. One time Jonny left his bag at our house and I spent $100 to ship it back to San Antonio. So, Jonny, you owe me $100.
Hey I got to witness a tiny bit of Nothing More coming up. I remember something like 20 years ago they were a tiny little core band and Johnny was the drummer back then. They came through a couple of times at the club I was a bookie for and ran sound for. And then I took a different direction in life for a few years. Came back to running sound at a club and Nothing More came through. This was in support for the album with “Jenny” and “ballast” and these guys BLEW ME AWAY! Johnny was now on vocals. There was a whole stage show. They did a wicked 3 man bass solo. And as the sound guy I worked with them that night. Although I had worked with them before, it was different this time. I could tell they were on a whole different level than most of the bands that came through the club. First off they were SUPER PROFESSIONAL about how they handled themselves. Also they were just simply the sweetest group of guys I’ve ever met. So humble and down to earth. They knew they knew they have been working hard and it was starting to pay off but they didn’t let that leak into an ego thing. They were just super cool and it left a lifelong impression on me. This video premieres in 18 minutes from now. I hope it reflects some of what I’m saying here. These guys deserve the world right now. They work hard and they are so cool about it.
You are very lucky you got to meet them :) I hope i do one day :) Jonny wrote me back on instagram when i asked him something about the carnal album coming out, I will never forget it and he's liked few of my comments on other posts of his or Nothing More's. I can tell they love their fans :)
@@HeartagramGirl30 oh I got to meet nothing more many times as well. Actually back around the same time frame as when I met immortal guardian. And then again right when the self titled album came out. I got to run sound for them one night and I got to watch their bass solo front row. That was maybe almost 11 years ago now. Maybe 10. My wife and I had just gotten married. The nothing more show was one of the first she came to watch me work. I gotta tell ya, Nothing More were some of the sweetest people I ever met. @@smeemusic Awesome :) Did you ever meet the band HIM? They're from Finland. They were a band but sadly they broke up 7 years ago :( Ville Valo did 2 US tours last year he was the frontman for that band. I got to talk to him last year though sadly it wasn't a very long talk :(

Kinda nuts that this dude wasn't the FIRST choice for a vocalist. Dude is incredibly talented. Being able to have power, vibrato and hit high notes all at the same time? That's insane.
I’ve been following the band since 2007. You could see the talent even then. Johnny was on the kit then. I loved watching them in the little bars. I was at that Aftershock too. Went from SA to support them and it was awesome to see them get “introduced” to the world
I saw them open for Chevelle in 2014 and was completely won over. Instantly was a fan and have seen since. Their new album Carnal is their best album since the self titled record 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I remember the early days back in 2003 - 2004 seeing Nothing More at Battle of the Bands and playing small gigs all over SA. It's INCREDIBLE how far they have come and their amazing journey.

I found Nothing More through a reaction channel (Alex Hefner...I think that's his name...), and was blown away. 5 or 6 of their songs helped me through the rehashing of a break up from 15yrs ago (She and I were finally able to really let it all out and be honest with each other and have the closure we never got. Hard and sad, but good in the end). To be honest I didn't know they had a new album...going to listen to it now. Fun interview, thanks for all the work you do! 🤘

Thanks for this interview! I love this band. Their music is incredible! And Johnny is so cute and charming!☺🤗
I remember thinking this band has something special on the first record. Than they worked with clint lowerry and I expected guitar MADNESS. We didnt get that. Now tho they have become what Id always wanted. LOVE the heavy riffs
Would have liked to hear more about the beginning of the band with the many singers they had. Jonny is the best, but those first two records, Vandura and Save You/Save Me have great material, and the other singers provide a unique sound to their development. Last Crusade of Burkina Faso, Noise Without Sound, Welcome Home, and Somewhat Proud are all great pre-Jonny-vocals tracks
So at what point do we have a NoMo / Periphery song come out? Id love to hear a crossover from both sides (Jonny in a Periphery song, Spencer in a Nothing More song).
I came here to listen to Johnny Hawkins story and the interviewer kept going way off topic. Other than that it was nice to learn more about Nothing More and Johnny.

@@orbitwhitegum7 I wouldnt even say that. again all subjective, I just found all the songs were more formulaic and more radio friendly than Spirits.. Which made the album lack in just attacking your ears.
