I wish more games did something like this, I'd love to see a system like this in a Mega Man game as long as the stage atmospheres arent specifically made just for one specific time of day or night. A Mario game could really pull this off, I've seen Romhacks that try and made stages follow a timeline, like let's say 5-1 is the morning and ends mid-day, stage 5-2 takes place in the afternoon. But having it coded into the game would be a whole new level of world building
@@randomguyontheinternet7940 Yeah stuff like this always improves the worldbuilding. Megaman X tries to do that with stage order effecting what the rest of the stages are gonna look like, but that just means whoever follows the objectively best route for the upgrades misses the cool scenery that can occur differently.
@@randomguyontheinternet7940 I'm pretty sure megaman zero 4 did essentially what you said. It has a system where you can tweak the weather in any given boss's stage.
Fun Fact: Christian Whitehead (lead developer of Sonic Mania) and a few other developers founded their own studio, and named it "Evening Star Studio", likely as a reference to this song in Chatix

because the game was released on a failing addon that was released when the new console was just months away. Barely anybody played it and liked the soundtrack enough to share it.
I think they said it was a coincidence, but of course a welcome one. Penny is incredible and I agree it kinda feels like a reimagined version of chaotix's gimmick, I hope they make more games
I love songs that sound sour and sweet. I dunno how to explain it.. I'm no music scientist. But, this is just a perfect mix of the two. Maybe tangy is the word I'm lookin' for? I'm not sure. It's like.. a sorrowful rejoice. Or something cheesy like that.. This song is great.

@Channing Bell Keyword “rarely” friend, my go-to example of bad Sonic music will always be Sonic Chronicles. Generally speaking though, they mostly nail it with the music
Game is far better than Sonic 4 or SA2-Forces. It took SM to save the Games. Then There is Project 06 v3.5 and Project Hero that Games Should be based upon.
*Oh hey, it's that one song every competent Sonic romhack uses.*
YES
classy vibes
i know right like its always knuckles chaotix or ristar maybe gunstar heroes
Because it’s so good 😩😩😩😩😩😩
Sonic and Ashuro threw me in for a loop.
You can hear the 90s in this track
new jack swing coming through
Lol
That’s what I’m saying
This day/night system is what gives the game some life, it gives context to whatever zones you are playing, it feels like a world.

i'm telling you right now that Christian whitehead loves this game, the tether mechanic kinda returned with the yoyo in penny
And I mean, the name of the team that created the game being called “Evening Star” kinda supports this theory

To me this is the best video game music ever made
@Douglas McFly check out my remake

it's way up there, the whole soundtrack. it's my favorite of the Sonic ones by far

This track has a very similar (wonderful) sound to Daft Punk's "Something About Us".

This song is great.
Bittersweet. Like you're remembering your nostalgic memories of your childhood, happy that you experienced them but sad that it's over.
Yeah. I think that's sort of what I mean.
A bittersweet melancholic feeling
that's why i'm going to use it in my fangame for the ending if i make one
This song is heavenly
found this in camp at mt everest in the middle of a snowstorm simulator on teardown's steam workshop
Am I the only one who could fall asleep to this? To me it's very relaxing.

this music brings me many memories 😄
reminds me of Tidal Tempest US Mix from Sonic CD
This music Beggs to be an Credits Theme.
My favorite part of this song is the very beginning. The Intro just has this quality to it I can't quite explain.
I agree.
I remember this because of how many fan projects it's in compared to the original source lmao
Think tidel tempest with a little bit of casino night and star light
And maybe a tid bit of studiopolis
Tidal Tempest and Star Loght definetly.
god the music in this game is so good like shit the whole ost has this aura to it and it slaps

●Knuckles chaotix songs
●sonic 3d blast songs
●sonic 3 2p song

Too bad because that soundtrack rocks
