It’s so odd, a lot of the games tracks remind me of the evolution of the “clown” theme song and how it was originally a march for soildiers coming home, but its use ironically in comedies has lead to it become more synonymous with its parody meaning that its become a song to symbolize clowns more than triumphant soldiers and war I bring this up, because I never played knuckles chaotic (mainly know it and it’s music through TH-cam reviews and TH-cam videos using its music as bg music) but its crazy to me that even if you listen to it with 0 attachment or nostalgia, it still gives off this eerie feeling of sadness to it and most of chaotic’ tracks. Like Sonic 1 is older and I definitely don’t feel this vibe with literally every song, so why chaotix? I’m not versed enough in music theory to pinpoint why they give off this vibe to people , but the “melancholic blues approach” is certainly something for a game where I’m 85% sure these tracks weren’t made to feel sad at all. How can something designed be to so upbeat constantly break my heart in two? This song, along with Midnight Greenhouse, is by far the strongest for showing how this soundtrack fits into Japan's Jazz Fusion canon with the likes of Casiopea and T-Square. Just fantastic.
What saddens me about Knuckles Chaotix is, despite having an unfinished flavor to it and its awful level design, its visuals and ost are top notch. I deeply wish someone mod this game and make an improved version of it

Can confirm. As a diehard Sonic fan it took a lot of effort to get a copy of Knuckles Chaotix, thankfully I got it in a bundle with a Mega Drive, Mega CD and 32X. Wasn't cheap, but cheaper than getting them separately

Knuckles Chaotix is very very very influenced by jazz and jazz fusion. Compare Omens of Love by T-Square and Tribute from this game.

Never played Knuckles' Chaotix but the OST is great from what I've heard so far (Only heard this, Door into Summer, and Midnight Greenhouse)
