Enthralling process! Certainly a labour of love. What patience you have! The end result is stunning and very authentic and original. Whilst it seems as if everything is under control you must of had many nightmares perfecting your process style...
@@jonathanallen6753 thank you for your kind words! And yes, I’ve been developing (I hesitate to say perfecting) this method for over 20 years. It’s involved a LOT of trial and error. And of course, as I have gotten a handle on the basic approach, I’ve added more complexity, which is always an opportunity for failure and growth in equal measure.
What an amazing beautiful artwork will done Andrew, as an artist and cactus lover and collector who lives in Phoenix Arizona that artwork really represents the experience of living in Sonoran desert ❤.
That was an amazing project colors, sculpture textures, details ! I enjoyed watching the entire process and your patience and vision extraordinary A beautiful piece....thank you
Oh my gosh! I was puzzled when you added all those layers and obscured the work underneath. When you sanded it down (wasn't expecting that part) and cried tears of joy as the work underneath was revealed 😂😂👏👏. Stunning work and what a _homage_ to your ancient surroundings.
@@ac1646 thank you so much. Yes, it’s an unusual process, and I’m so glad you had the same experience I do. There is something joyful and surprising every time I do one of these sand downs, and I already know (more or less) what’s going to happen!
You had me on the edge of my seat, as all the details, very slowly, disappeared... Confused. Anxious. Annoyed. Maybe it's a sixth sense thing?! *THE GRAND FINALE* *I'm speechless* *BRAVO* !!!
@@erichraudebaugh my pleasure. And thank you! Encaustic of course is also a process that involves a lot of layering. I’ve worked with it minimally, but find it fascinatingly, and I love the look., the depth of encaustic.

@@catritz quite possibly my favorite comment on one of my videos ever. Thank you!
Thanks Andrew. Although I mainly work with oil and encaustic, this detailed video of your process was fascinating.
