    In my personal experience as interventionist too, I have never seen a young heart attack happening in a non smoker or in the absence of any comorbid illnesses.
    My 80% of consultation time is spent only on counseling about lifestyle changes, as rightly said they form the base of the pyramid of any treatment..

    In enjoyed this discussion from Dr. Pal and Dr. Kalyanasundaram discussing the importance of healthy living rather than solely relying on pharmaceuticals. As a board-certified family medicine and sports medicine doctor with a background in exercise physiology, exercise is crucial to leading a healthy lifestyle. Of course, it's important to remember that physical activity has slight risks, but the benefits outweigh them. For instance, vigorous intensity exercises can be risky for those not used to regular exercise. In contrast, moderate-intensity exercises like brisk walking may pose risks for those with undiagnosed chronic conditions that are not well controlled. That's why it's always important to consult your primary care doctor before starting an exercise program. Here in the U.S., we see our patients once a year as part of regular checkups - much like taking your car for a service by a mechanic! Finally, let me emphasize that fitness matters - multiple studies have shown that increased fitness levels correlate with decreased risk of death. So go ahead - exercise regularly and eat healthily! Continue to follow Dr. Pal advice regarding eating habits.

    Thank you for doing this. Most adults are not sleeping on time, messing up the endocrine system; also we need some reliable screening methods to detect heart disease; its a fact that needs more research that if you take 100 asymptomatic people and do a screening coronary angiography many will have stenosis of varying degrees, but most of them do not develop heart attacks. Why? Also, you cannot reliably predict who among them will have heart attack. We need to know so much more to save lives.

    Thankfully someone spoke frankly about C*O*V*I*D openly. This was an elephant in the room that no one wanted to address. Athletes who are used to pushing the limits have definitely found some side effects due to the vaccination or the pandemic itself. Now the question is how to acknowledge, diagnose the risk and tackle it.

  • @sharanyakrishnan3505
    @sharanyakrishnan3505 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had one question for the guest specialist. Are there any blood work apart from cholesterol that helps detect non calcified plaque? For calcified plaque there is low radiation calcium score. Since EKG and Echo are not fool proof, is there a non invasive way to identify plaque formation without tests that involves radiation?

    • @senthilswaminathan4712
      @senthilswaminathan4712 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The issue is even if tests are there to non-invasively identify plaque, there are no medical treatments for that. Interventional cardiologists don't touch the plaque till it is 80% blocked or if you have symptoms. They know that body has other defense mechanisms and can actually create collateral arteries to deal with the situation naturally. So, I would suggest you live a proper lifestyle without stress and thats the best you can do. BTW.. I am not a doctor but well read on this topic.

    Medical science has no idea about what is going on with sudden cardiac deaths around the world. Your narrative on lifestyle falls flat when Dr.Bhujang Shetty who himself is a doctor and knew everything about the diet collapsed last week and died. My wife cousin who came as a guest passed away in the rest room with sudden Myocardial fibrosis in Boston, USA. Non smoker, non alcoholic, Vegetarian, non obese, no health issues as per his PCP regular blood work done last month, male healthy and no symptoms, 33 years, No family history. He slept well, ate idlis and went into the restroom and never came out. He had covid 8 months before he died inspite of having 3 doses of PFIZER vaccine. When we opened the door he was in sleeping position inside the bathtub. Shower was on, falling on his leg and was draining out. Shampoo, soap were intact and so he did not have sudden fall. He made himself comfortable and lied down.
