  • Clearing the driveway after a heavy wet snow fall with the Kubota tractor and the Lx2963 snowblower. Snow piles up in front of the snowblower and I demonstrate how I manage the problem.

    Hi, I just took ownership of my Kubota Cab tractor LX3310 last week just two days before the storm hit. I also have the LX2963 snowblower and it did a very nice job of clearing the wet snow. I live in upstate N.Y. where we do get a fair amount of snow. I had the R14 tires installed and filled with Rim Guard. I had no issues with the tires. I like the tractor so far. My wife said it was my Christmas gift for the next ten years. Lol. Merry Christmas and Happy new Year.

      Only ten years?😄 I really like my R14's, great all around performance.

    I just bought a tire chains from mine thinking of getting a blower. Good video. Thanks for the information.

    With my BX2380 when I run into wet heavy snow and I start pushing it I usually back up and ram forward multiple times till I make my first pass. Then I only take half or less of the width of the blower to finish off the driveway. Luckily it doesn’t happen often. I always figure that even though it takes longer to do that it sure as heck beats shovelling it! Nice tractor you have there oh and my little Kubota has turf tires and they are awesome in the winter.

      Absolutely beats shoveling! I agree with taking less to get the job done, I’ve found the time is usually a wash because you’re not stopping to let the engine and the blower catch up.

    Hey Mt. Top, it certainly isn't much fun dealing with those conditions. Would have been even less fun without the tractor. Our last two snows where like that as well so I also feel your pain. Great machine you have there, thanks for sharing!

    Well that was nasty stuff. Never have I seen a snow blower push snow, snow thrower yes, but not a snow blower.
    Nice tractor.

      Yes it was nasty stuff. Hope we don’t get more like that.

    I've found that wet snow is best handled with judicious amounts of silicone spray for the back-blade and the blower, particularly the impeller. If the paint is intact wax it several times (before it gets cold) with some high quality wax but still use the silicone. - That heavy wet snow is like concrete.

    • @MtTopLiving
      @MtTopLiving  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was actually thinking of trying cooking spray. Which is along the same idea as silicone. Thanks for the suggestion.

    I feel your pain. I was having the same issues last weekend. Very frustrating. Like you said though... Better than a shovel. Although I did some of that too.

    I've got a similar machine, an LX3310 with an LX2963 and I recently had the exact same experience in 11" of heavy wet snow. There's no stopping it from packing and plowing in front of the blower. I can't help but wonder how much better the LX2980 commercial blower might have done.

      Once the snow is packed and you’re just pushing it I’m not sure it makes a difference what blower model you have.

    Are you running it at proper implement speed...front hauger seems to be rotating to slow

      The manual says, run the engine at or near, full throttle for maximum power. Which is what I have been doing. It also says run at full RPM when you are removing wet, sticky snow.

  • @EverythingElliott
    @EverythingElliott ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm very familiar with that type of snow as that's all I get with lake effect. Most don't understand how truly heavy and sticky it is.

    • @MtTopLiving
      @MtTopLiving  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lake affect snow is no joke, I grew up near Lake Ontario. Snowed so much we would jump off the porch roof into the snow.

    Sticky snow is a pain for snowblowers. Better to use a blade when that happens.

    Looks like heavy, wet snow was a common theme. Try your differential lock next time your wheels start spinning. Might be all you need to keep rolling.

    Hi Dave, Thanks for posting the video. Hard to tell in this video but I think that you have the R4 tires. Did you have them loaded with RimGuard ?
    Thanks, Dan

    Could I bother you for a measurement Dave? Just wondering the distance from the front of the blower to the front of the grill guard?

    • @MtTopLiving
      @MtTopLiving  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s 35 inches to the housing but the augers stick out further for a total of 40 inches.

    • @Malpeque_Bay_LX3310
      @Malpeque_Bay_LX3310 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @MtTopLiving thanks for taking the time to measure it. Back to your need and want video. I decided that I don't want to be twisted on my seat looking backwards blowing snow for the next 25 years so I ordered a front blower for my LX3310 for next winter.

    The gear case in the middle of the auger isn’t doing you any favors in those snow conditions.
