    It was a revealing interview.

I side with your (interviewer) view on Festac ‘77. It was an art festival. Simple! A lot of Nigerian religious folks (still) do not understand the purpose of that event. Festac or no Festac, a nation that is ensnared by corruption can never progress remarkably. Other great nations celebrate something similar to F77 and they are still advancing.
There have been social ills before 1977. Even 419 was under a different slang/term…same goes for “japa” and so on. Beyond that, great interview. He is a good man.

Nigeria just simply lacks visionary leadership. Has been, always will be because the people themselves are just simply myopic. The entire head buried in the food bowl. All they know is what they’ll get now-as opposed to what benefits the nation in the longer term. Even the F77, OFN, Udoji, palliative etc implementation is never about the nation. As money is being voted, some people are already thinking about how much of that is “embezzleable.” Yeye leaders. All of them. Great emphasis on *ALL*. Even in Ayewa’s explanation, those young Nigerian soldiers of his time were already being used to build “Baba”’s wife’s poultry. Corruption has destroyed them from the get go. How will the nation rise? Was that how Singapore developed? No.

I was so much in love with that album (amona) to the extent that I was always armed with the cassette wherever I went. It was, and is still one of the best music of our time.

@ Dele Adeyanju - He released an album in which he explained how he took heed to God's call. My uncle used to play it but I have searched for the album to no avail. If you can help find out from him how we can get it it. Here is some of the lyrics (igba ti mo je ipe Jesu, l'ayo mi to kun o. Igba ti mo je ipe Jesu, l'kan mi mi to bale....) That track used to give me goosebumps😀

What he said concerning Kunle Opio and other things in the course of this interview had been told me sometimes in 1992 or thereabout. At that time, I was just like his personal assistant going places together. In fsct, when he acquired a plot of land around Akute, I was with him and how did our paths crossed? I was one of those that promoted Amona on radio at Radio Nigeria in 1983, it was then that he took special interest with me. He was living at Aladelola Street at Ikosi, Ketu then and virtually every member of his household knew me including his late mother. A great disciplinarian, Pastor Adelakun is also a very good man. I've not seen him for a very long time and hope to see him again very soon. Thanks for bringing him and others on your programme.

I am so happy that Evangelist Ayewa Adelakun is ageing with grace and still at the peak of his powers. He is a great man and a living legend. A fine example to everyone. I'll never forget the joy that filled my heart when I played his "Silekun Aanu" track as our entrance music on my wedding day all those years ago. Well done to you @ Agba l'etu for honouring Baba Adelakun with this interview.
