- Hey, this is the puukko knife I finished today. The layout of the wood is familer from my earlier knife works. I just love this bubinga- birch wood contrast.
The sheath is coming and it will be special.
The video is especially for those who want to learn how to shape the handle.
The blade is carbon steel Roselli 78mm which I find perfect puukko blade size.
The oval shape handle is more than traditional and I bet you cannot find no hot spots from this handle.

Although I don't like verbiage in a handle this knife is very beautiful and with an excellent Roselli blade. The combination of the two woods is really excellent.

When I grind on the end plates, I keep a small sprayer bottle full of water at hand. It takes the heat right out of the brass in a cloud of stream. That way the heat does't ruin the epoxy. The combination of birch burl and bubinga is very elegant.
Marty Malone I know Marty and I am also cooling the metal plates between the video clips a lot. This time those clips only were quite long 🔥 Yes, epoxy doesn’t like too much heat and it softens if you’re careless. Thanks, Osmo
What a beautiful knife! I really like the contrast between the two colors of wood. What type of blade clamp were you using when you were sanding the handle? Is it something you made?

what kind/brand of sandpaper do you use for the hand sanding?
I don’t think any certain brand too much. After machine sanded form for the handle I’ll take usually grits 80 or 120 and then 180-240-320-(400)-600-(800) and if the handle material is other than wood 1000-1200 and finally kirje sanding machine. 180-320 are the most important for the final smooth result. More hard wood more finer grits to the end. Hope this makes sense.
