Knife making - Large Puukko

- A friend of mine ordered me to make him a big puukko in the 1930 puukko style. I took some inspiration from Pekka Tuominen and some historical examples. For the blade I used old metal file , forged it to shape as close as possible.

One of the most beautifull finnish like knife I've ever seen :).
Fantastic work! Should be more than proud to own a puukko like that! Wow!!
What a fantastic video :) A super beautiful product, and a great guide to follow if you want to make your own
The click when the knife fits in the sheath. Mark of the true craftsmanship

you just have to make the sheath to end a little bit after the thickest part of the handle and you need to put the right amount of plastic foil when it dries :D
Looks fantastic great craftsman ship . Thank you for showing your work ✊✊✊✊
Great work!! Perfect. Ur quickly becoming one of my favorite channels.
Beautifully done. I learned a few tricks form this video too for my own puukko making. Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it! Cheers!

Superb and gorgeous knife. Love the "hamon" and handle.
thank you , the hamon came out a bit random and uneven but at least the owner was happy :)
True masterpiece. Thank you Sir.
Outstanding ! Beautiful.
Beautiful work. I would love to see more tanto work in the future, you did an amazing job on that too
I do not think it is a tanto (i think the title of one of his videos says its finnish) but i do not want to start an argument about it so il put a smiling face :D

É UM GRANDE ARTISTA QUEM TRABALHA, ALISANDO O METAL COM MARTELO. OBRIGADO
I clicked the thumb up button for your great work.
Holy s. Man. Your hands are like precision bevel making Machines. Beautiful
hahaha thanks mate - when you are too lazy to make your grinder a table and grinding jig , you just learn to grind freehand ;d (and my bevels are far from perfect :) )
My friend just gifted me with one of these he forged, really nice work
Nice work! Really awesome!⚔️
beautiful knife great work !
Very happy to see this fine piece.
I have a Puukko horsehead knife that I found many years ago, and I'd love to make one of these for camp use.
Thank you. I'm glad to hear that you like it. And puukkos with horse head are one of my favourite designs. I would like to learn making them :)
Excellent work!
Beautiful work and skilfully done Sir. 👏👍

👍😁Beautiful work
Beautiful job!!!
Great info on Hamon technique, thank you...
Just Gorgeous!
Fantastic!
fantastic work!
Wow! Excellent work. I made a sheath similar to that (not nearly as nice though) a few years ago. I used cedar planks for salmon (unused) and thin veneer for a cigar box to make the spacer for the blade. Then I wrapped it in leather. Between the leather, cedar and cigar, the sheath smells great!
sounds very nice indeed. Its very nice when the materials that you use feel and smell good :)
fantastic work :D! keep it up !
Beautiful, fantastic job !
thanks :)
Really great work
Well done, i'm very impressed.
Real masterpiece!

Wow, a very nice result!! I want it ;-))
I would really like to know how you infiltrated my mind and extracted my perfect puuko design. All joking aside, that thing is beautiful, and to my mind perfect! Excellent work!
Thank friend. I'm glad to hear that you like it so much :)
That was awesome, including the sheath making part.
Thanks friend :) I hate making sheaths for regular knives , but the puukko sheaths are just a pleasure to make :)
Gorgeous sheath.
Bravissimo un capolavoro!!!
Great work! In Finnish this traditional style of handle is often called "Riippapää"
Thank you. This is very interesting. i really want to read and learn more about the Finnish knives and blades in general but it's hard to find info on English :)
Piękna robota 👍!!!
The "original" Bowie Knife " was made from an old file /rasp, (depending on your interpretation of the history.),, so the first minutes of the video, are great to watch, (as a massive Bowie fan),,,,
Beautiful knife btw,,
Thank you,,,
this is something interesting to learn :)
This is magic!
Great job 👍
I like that Rooster in the background!
Beautiful
woow !! great work !
Wonderful work 😊
THANK YOU SIR :)
Looking legendery. İ love it..
Beautiful work. Here in finland some call these long puukkos jääkäripuukkos. It means something like jaeger knife in germany jaeger means hunter or infantryman, but finnish jääkäri just infantry man. I guess soldiers liked bit bigger blades to typical puukkos during war.
Thank you for this information friend. I really want to read and learn more about puukkos and other Finnish knives but the resources available in English are a bit limited.
very unique!
beautiful puukko and hamon and sheath

Very good .
That is a beautiful knife. Somewhat like a traditional Scottish Sgian Dubh (pronounced 'ski-en doo').
I have one of your early vids saved in my knife making playlist, in the description you mentioned that no one around you takes an interest in what you make. Their loss, it's true craftsmanship.
thanks friend :) Btw with these videos I managed to gain some interest from people around me :)
Lindo esse trabalho desta faca 🗡️ punkko👍✌️

Wow, great work. Question: Wouldn't the wood part of the sheath gather moisture from the blade?
