I enjoy the blazer videos I love how I can learn something new to fix it or keep an eye on something to see how its functioning then fix once it needs replacing, I don’t have my spare tire cause my won’t lift it thanks Dan
I removed probably four hand fulls of rust off the rear bumper and around that area - still enough metal to then treat with phosphoric acid overnight - and then paint.
I was forced to buy a new car when my 2nd blazer started having a trans slip and I had no more funds or options. The kia is very well built and super reliable but; a part of me really does miss wrenching on the old trucks. Hope you’re have fun!
I'm gonna check out that clip for that spare retractor. I just did phosphoric acid treatment on the bumper - I think I treated that area. My spare still holds now - it got replaced at some point early on I think in our 04 history - we were on a gravel road that got a lot of salt in the winter. Thanks for showing how to do that - impressive repair. Also since you just put different shocks on the rear - I'm thinking it's not a big deal if I find different rear shocks than the front TrueDrive shocks that carparts is sending to me. You got any suggestions? haha. thanks
It's a ball joint, not a bushing, so it doesn't need to be weighted when tightening as it isn't flexing rubber, just moving in its socket. I have a front sway bar end that likes to loosen up. Will have to put some threadlock on it. Any recommendations on new shocks and struts?
Yes, true that. I like the coil over style shocks that I robbed from the partsblazer, but I couldn't begin to tell you the brand because any markings identifying it are gone from use.
Actually I have the spare flipped around with the rim facing down or whatever that's called - the wheel. Yeah that's how it was when I found it - so I suppose some mechanic did that and I just copied it. Only how many inches do you have between the exhaust pipe and tire? I have only two to three inches - so it's a bit disconcerting. Looks like you have more space. So I wonder if having the tire higher up then makes it less close to the exhaust pipe. Strange I never made that connection before.
I'm a literal person, so when he said backside, I was expectinga water slide on the trailblazer. Not reminding me how much of a b**** those mounting bolts for the spare retractor are. Damn't

Appears the spare is nicely balanced.
The partsblazer is still giving
Indeed!
Great video, super helpful. Thank you sir.

It can be frustrating fixing on it so often but there is some satisfaction with keeping it on the road 👍
Hey I thought the body roll helps with the cornering better leaving the grocery 500 race 🤙🏼🤙🏼😂
It was rolling enough to make me sea sick 🤢

Nice! Could you have flipped the tire over and retracted it using less lanyard?
That's a good idea. I probably could have!

So..much..rust!!
I see your resonator fell off. She still quiet?
It is only marginally louder
OH that's why the spare tire is not as close to the exhaust pipe - I knew something looked different. thanks
Take of the rust and paint .
