I ended up with the Sennheiser and I'm happy with my choice. The extra volume and playback controls when doing stuff around the house were a big selling point for me. Also, the option to turn off noise cancelling and the feature where you double-tap to hear the outside noise is great too. Plus, I found the Senns had less "airplane pressure" on my ears when using N/C.
Mine didn't come with the laser guided artillery launcher. My disappointment is inmeasurable, had to return them.

I have the 550s and I just found a cool feature where if you double tap the touch pad it switches to pass through mode so you can hear everything around you through the noise cancelling mics. Very handy when someone is trying to talk to you.

Sound quality is not the only point of NOISE CANCELLING wireless headphones. The sound quality of the Bose phones is perfectly decent, I don't want better sound, and I do have more accurate headphones I could use, but the Bose win out for me over those.
haven't even heard of the sennheisers prior to this vid, but i have the Bose and they sound pretty damn good, not the best sound ever, but if you're out and about (the reason you want noise cancelling) you definitely wont notice any issues with the sound quality.
Yea sound quality is great but do remember that these are wireless headphones so if you truly want amazing sound then buy wired studio headphones that can blow these 2 out the park (if you can notice the difference) They both sound great imo coming from a guy who isn't and audio master, and are better than beats :p (unless you prefer heavy bass in that case.....)
I can tell you that sq isn't the sole factor. As an owner of the QC25, I will say the sound signature is un-dynamic and "safe". For all the "no highs, no lows, must be Bose!!" flak, it does result in a particular type of flat sound that combined with the comfort factor - is very easy to listen to for long periods outdoors at lowered volumes thanks to NC. However, I would feel the the QC series is the only Bose headphone line up worth buying. Owning a SoundTrue OE, they pale much in comparison to the PX200 mk2
Kohfu at this price range I would expect many to really appreciate differences but you're right, wireless can't compete.
I've been using my Qc35's for a month mostly for train & busy london underground journeys, no regrets thus far.

Anyone watching this video should try the Sony MDR-1000X, it's an amazing headphone and I'm not sure why it's not in this comparison. I know you cannot compare everything, but at least the top three options would be nice
I've had to get my Qc25's repaired twice on warranty in two years, due to the case design putting excessive stress on the cable of the side you fold in. Sure, it's a small case, but it comes at a cost. I've decided to get a larger case for them, that don't require folding the cups in.
I bought the Bose one today and 2 hours later you upload this video 🙈 Iam very happy with my decision. I also tested the sennheiser headphones but the earcups are slightly smaller so it didn't really fit well.

Yeah, better camera, as well as actually using a consistent fucking color correction profile. It used to be very low in contrast, and even unsaturated way too much. It was bad, some videos I could tell they did ZERO color correction and were just using the flat image, not even a color profile in the camera I'm certain. I would complain and comment about it every video, I guess they do read comments lol

I just got my Bose yesterday, loving them.
I have the QC35 for a while now, and the the annoyances besides the price is the fact you can't turn off noise cancelling. That means if you want to use the headphones outside on a windy day, you'll hear the wind in the headphones as it's picked up by the outside microphones. I'm sure that's the case with the Sennheisers as well, but at least on those you can turn noise cancellation off. Thought I'd mention this as it wasn't covered in the review.
Tech Innuendo you can turn off noise cancellation using the Bose connect app.

I went into the store a couple weeks ago, tried both the bose QC35s and the sony mdr 1000x. The bose win comfort, not by that much though, simply because they are lighter. However, sony's took my breath away. The noise cancellation is better in that it is the same quality but the pressure on my ears was almost unnoticeable, the bose had a pressure that actually kinda hurt. Sound quality is another win for the sony's and the features of em are wicked cool and work very well. I picked up my pair of sony's and I'm in love. I honestly didn't want to get them because almost all of my sound systems for my tv and my pc are bose and I used to be an avid xbox gamer so I have a deep illogical grudge against sony... but these headphones made me say eh, why not give sony a try... and I'm very happy now.

Wtf Shawn Jones, the Sony MDR-1000x don't even qualify as hi-fi imo. They're probably the worse headphones I've heard that cost over $100. Their sound is so dull; I don't get the hype.
Sorry I have to dissagree about the Sony's having better sound quality than the bose. I bought the Sony's about 2 weeks ago on a black Friday sale, and I was very disappointed of the sound quality. They sounded very muddy and they lacked so much details compared to my bose soundlink 2. The highs lack a lot. They sound dull and defentiely not better than the qc35's. The bose offered better details and a much more fuller sound because they have a neutral sound good for music production.
Linus you are a true professional. Pleaes review some premium quality over ear sound pieces which are wired as well. You haven't mentioned the range of Frequency response for example.. something that differs between different models and brands and might heavely affect ANC's quality and efficiency. Thanks!!

I use Bose, and I love them, great sound and really compact too! Really easy to use on planes etc., plus I do do gaming also! Rainbow Six Siege, CSGO which require good sound! Dont know about Sennheiser but.

For under $50 the clear winner is : Photive BTH3 Over-The-Ear Wireless. Solid build quality and Bluetooth range that is the most distance I have ever experienced. Sound? They are under $50 but they have fantastic sound AT THAT price. Great to have when you don't want to lose your good ones...great for travel.

I use the Plantronics Voyager Focus from my job, I really like them.
I had to get a replacement regarding the bose. The mic stopped working and eventually stopped connecting to my phone. I contacted bose's customer service and recieved a brand new pair 10 days later. So Bose is still good in my book but at the same time, kinda left a bad taste in my mouth regarding bose.

Love my Senheisser headphones and they won't be going anywhere, sound quality is far superb, but my QC35s are still my go-to for travel.
I have the qc 35's. Honestly the range is perfectly fine. The sound did sound flat when I first got them however adding a bass boost and a high range boost managed to fix the problem. Also I have giant ears and these don't hurt at all. That was the biggest selling point for me.

Linus, 5:46 just FYI.. you can cancel ANC (or switch between the levels) on Bose while playing over Bluetooth through their app or you can map the Google Assistant button to Noise cancellation through the Bose app as well.

Bought my wife the Bose for x-mas, she loves them. I was really contemplating the SONY MDR 1000x's but I couldn't do a Bluetooth sound test with my phone at BestBuy like I did with the Bose. I recommend everyone check out the SONY's, about the exact same price and the SONY sample loop sounded great. I do believe the sound isolation and build quality was better on the Sony plus the hand palm mic feature is awesome! (put your hand on the right earcup and sound isolation goes off and an external mic turns on so you never need to take them off to talk to people). I wish my BestBuy had the Sennheisers to test also. All in all, the Bose are awesome, but I do hear some clipping on the high notes which is a big con for my music choice. My wife LOVES the Bose though, so can't complain. BTW - Hands down, the Bose are the best in comfort, they feel like soft and fluffy angel cloud pillows on your ears!

I bought the PXC-550's years ago maybe 3 years ago and use them 14 hours or more per day. I wish they had more cushion and the female micro-USB eventually pushed into the headset and I had to send it back to Sennheiser after almost two years. Luckily before the warranty was up at 2 years. I followed Sennheiser's warranty return information from their website and they sent me back a new pair, great service. It took 2 or 3 weeks, but I was very pleased obviously. I do remodeling and I wear these so they get dropped and I didn't pay great attention when shoving the micro-USB charger in, so it broke. I'm more cautious now. Maybe I should have purchased an extended warranty too? Also, Sennheiser allows the headphones to be charged while in use unlike Bose or Sony at the time at least which is very handy. The PXC's connectivity allows for two devices to be connected so that I switch back and forth between devices handsfree. I love the touch controls as I have some Sony's with buttons like the Bose and the touchpad is much easier for my use. It's easier to find when I need to turn the sound down fast for example. I compared the noise-canceling at a Bose outlet and neither myself or the salesperson could notice a difference. PXC's were $50.00 cheaper as well. Now the PXC-550's are less than $200, however, batteries are better now and some new headphones offer Type-C charging which is much preferred, and finally years after Sennheiser - touchpads. But, new models are $350-$400. I wish they all had batteries that could be swapped in and out and wireless charging like headphones I had 20 years ago, except fast charge. Bluetooth active noise-canceling headphones have allowed me to sleep and listen to books, music, and the news without the hassle of wires. The headphones will only perform as good as the source of the sound.

Actually, with firmware updates as of now, the Bose's sound has improved considerably AND you can now toggle the ANC while on a Bluetooth connection.

I HAVE a job, I also have a pair of HD598's I bought last year and my daily driver MX365's for when i'm out and about (plus my Fiio E17k DAC), Wireless would be nice to have, but it's not worth that kind of cost to get, especially when i'm paying out of pocket to remodel my house.

I just bought a pair of $70 wireless noise canceling headphones for work (Cowin brand), because I wanted to see if I could save money over the Bose QC35s. After using them for about 10 minutes, they were great. Noise cancelling was OK, enough to do well in a noisy office when you have music playing. However, they have the problem Linus talks about at 5:00. This pressure on your eardrums is UNBEARABLE, and has caused a couple of migraines already.
So if you're looking to buy some noise canceling headphones, make sure they don't have this problem first!

NFC is Bluetooth. NFC is the handshake between devices which pairs the devices (which iPhone users have to go through a menu to do) & then switches to Bluetooth for actual use. Actual NFC only has a range of about 1" & a bit rate of 400kbps, where as bt can currently do 25mbps at 30' (bt 5.0 will do 50mbps at 60'+ once it starts hitting the market).
Sennheiser's. Don't even need to watch the video. Yes, I'm that guy.

Another Sennheiser-user here. I have a MM550X. It's absolute garbage, even compared to e.g. the PXC-310BT I also have. Sennheiser has really been going downhill for years now. Also, with active usage, I managed to get contact problems with the cables in the hinges on mine within one year. (And the internal noise cancellation mic of one broke within a year for my first one.) That's not quality construction. Especially for the price. Also, the 550 had a quite nastily high white noise floor when powered on. Frankly, it was a number of steps backward even from the 310BT, or even a good old PX-200.
Sennheiser are just the best. Period. But I would prefer Momentum's overall for sound and style. ANC is just a nice bonus.
As usual great video, i researched a lot , tried both the headphones and happy with QC35ii purchase since i am an ios user, excellent clarity, Not that PXC ate bad but for ios device just pick qc35

The music we listen to is recorded in professional recording studios...those studios are lined with ample pairs of Sony and AKG headphones. Sony isn't garbage, it's industry standard.
Nothing we listen to has had Bose or Beats anywhere near the production process.
It's all Sony, AKG, and Sennheiser in a professional, critical listening audio production environment.
(The actual mixing is done on near-field or far-field monitors)

***** The MDR-1000X aren't too far behind really; whichever set works for you is entirely based on preference at this point. I'd go for the QC35 specially since the main highlight is noise-cancellation really.
