Zetta Flare is as far as I know the most powerful spell to exist within Final Fantasy. It’s even stronger than Bahamuts greatest Flare. Now that’s all fine and good until you realize that Goofy’s reaction means Donald has used this spell before.

I can't decide on my favorite part of this. -Mickey's utter confusion -Donald's bloodlust in using astronomical overkill -Goofy's "not AGAIN!" reaction -Sora's glee that a human was just atomized in front of his eyes
Something to add onto what everyone’s already said is that, with how absolutely devastating flare attacks are, Donald would’ve likely defeated Terranort with a much weaker flare such as Teraflare, even if it wasn’t concentrated into a beam Flare attacks are naturally ‘area of effect’ attacks, like an explosion. Although there’s no canon scaling for how powerful a caster must be to concentrate flares, it’s likely that Donald must have great control to do something as unique as concentrating an explosion spell into a beam, never mind one as powerful as Zettaflare. Now for the fun part, Zettaflare is 1,000,000,000x stronger than Teraflare, an attack that, due to its already amazing power, would’ve, again, likely defeated Terranort, at least temporarily. But no, Donald was absolutely fucking SICK of this man, if the weight of a fragment of a paper clip could’ve beat him, Donald used the equivalent of 20 tanks to vaporise him instantly, knocking Donald out. *Donald decided not to hold back the power of gods, even with the threat of losing consciousness, for no reason beyond sheer fucking hate and malice.*
Also keep in mind tetrflare was only used by the strongest version of bahamut, bahamut zero, who is viewed and looked upon as an actual God wich means Donald would need to have the power of atleast 200 bahamut zeroes to use zettaflare normally let alone focus it into a beam which means that beam would've obliterated anything that it hit less than microseconds. TL;DR: Donald duck used a magic beam with the power of over 200 gods to destroy a man until there was nothing left of him because he slightly breathed on his friends. And lived
Scrooge: Kids? Never let your uncle get a hold of a wand or sceptor. Huey: But why? Dewey: He can't possibly use it, right? Luey: Yeah, its not like he's some black mage capable of throwing a potentially world destroying beam of death. Scrooge: ... Luey: Oh my word, he is isn't he? Scrooge: Again. No wand. *Ever* .
Scrooge has done some crazy stuff too, but in my theory. I think Donald’s magic abilities come from his father’s side of the family. Not from his mother’s side. His paternal great grandfather, Clinton Coot, was a legendary figure and the leader of the original caballeros. That’s if you ever watched the Legend of the Three Caballeros. Would be interesting on how powerful Mickey, Donald and Goofy would be if you combined every version of themselves into one timeline.
@@Christopher_Woods The Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in KH seem to be a composite version of them, as they have memories of their past versions. If that’s the case, they’re all stupidly powerful and extremely old.

Love that reference. Donald’s power literally comes through anger. He’s practically a combination of Thor and Hulk if you look at it amongst avengers. Uses magic in combat and get stronger with rage.

Donald straight up killed Terra here. Knocked him right into the game over animation, then blasted until the screen went pure white, then kept blasting until not even the ash from his corpse remained.
There seem to be some misconception what Donald Duck is. He is the kings court magician, aka, the one out of all the mages in the kingdom recognized for his talent and ability Not the Court Healer or Court Priest etc. Everytime you complained about him not healing you? Its like asking a mechanic to perform surgery, sure he got some first aid knowledge but thats not what he is trained for. This Zettaflare is divine realm magic, aka magic that would drain even "gods" in the FF/Disney/KH universe, the fact that donald have enough magic in him to perform this magic and not turn into dust is a marvel in its own, thst his only drawback is getting knocked out from having his MP/HP drained to cast this spell At the beginning of KH1 he was weaker then Yen Sid and Merlin, but while Sora been losing his powers over and over Goofy and Donald havent, their skills, experience and training fighting all kinds of heartless and bosses is what drove donald to reach this power. In terms of character class you could say he evolved from "Scholar" to a Sage because something you need to keep in mind is that over the years of FF classes, they are usually not linear, they usually have a range of options of how to customize the build And in donalds case he simple took a few points towards healing because he saw it as necessary to be of service to his king, and more points to it later because Sora was being a weak clutz who needed the helping hand. But at the core Donald is both personality wise and character wise a offensive aspect, who is trained to cast offensive magic foremost but forced to take support actions.
So the question I ask is if he is so powerful to cast Zettaflare why can't he heal me? Kinda sus of Donald. Also where on earth did you here that Donald is wise? And Goofy can walking into a building without tripping over nothing if you can believe that.
I actually love this scene, even with 0 context and never playing a Kingdom Hearts game. Because there's always been a breaking point for Donald. In Ducktales, it's if you breath slightly heated air on his nephews, in normal Mickey, it's any slight inconvenience, and here, it's if you touch his friends, it's nice.
@Hooty HOOT HOOT The sheer force of Donald's anger would delete you from existence Everything you've ever done has suddenly never happened and every part of you is gone :V
And the best part is here, he’s not just gonna wreck you. If you cross that line, *he will smite you with literal god level power.* God I love this series.
"Say fellas, did somebody mention the door to darkness?" And this scene, that's all that I've ever seen from Kingdom Hearts, and all I have to say is 😳👀
To be perfectly honest, I've never played any of the Kingdom Hearts games and I stumbled upon this video by accident. After reading through the story behind Zettaflare, this is probably one of the most powerful scenes (not talking about strength here) Square Enix has ever put into a game. So according to what I've read, Donald used Zettaflare before on accident and it almost killed him (reason Goofy tells him not to since he knew the spell and the toll it takes). The fact that Donald purposely cast it again while channeling most (all?) of his mana into it is beyond brave. He very well knew that the usage of this spell could / will potentially kill him but he completely disregarded his own life in full determination of saving his friends. You can see it in his eyes, his clenched fist and even in his (albeit kinda weird) voice. There was not a single second of hesitation, doubt or regret sacrificing himself to save his companions. Well done Square Enix. This is how you introduce one of the most powerful beings into a franchise flawlessly.
The scary thing is, what if Goofy was scared not about the spell draining Donald's life force, but he was instead scared about the amount of collateral damage this could cause? Teraflare did so much damage so what would an unfocused Zettaflare would do when cast without enough precautions?
@@clonezero_RR This checks out as well because the -flare line are canonically explosions across all of final fantasy. However Donald exercises such high level control over the strongest spell in existence and focuses it into a beam faster than one of the fastest characters in the franchise. GG.
The only issue is that Donald was already introduced, and giving him a god killing spell out of no where with no context is fucking stupid. You literally got more context for this moment than I did playing the game, and getting to that point.
To be fair with the guy, he indeed got as good as donald with lower levels of magic. But he's a red mage and those don't learn the highest levels to begin with.
Basically, suicidal duck uses the strongest nuke ever conceived on an enemy, when a nuke hundreds of thousands of times smaller would've probably done just about as good, but square enix wanted to make a duck from Disney the strongest canonical mage in all of final fantasy history. And, according to Goofys reaction, THIS ISNT THE FIRST TIME HES DONE IT Edit: As someone pointed out below me, he also does this before Xehanort, who is canonically faster and stronger than Sora and Riku (two characters who parried HUNDREDS of blasts of light and point blank range), can even react. This wasn't just instant, this was faster than instant. He and Goofy are fucking gods
You know, it’s times like this that I remember and appreciate that Donald is canonically the strongest Red Mage in the combined Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy universe.
@@seabass9494 it doesn't matter if zetaflare i is a black magic spell what matters you in this case is that he knows a healing spell which black mages never learn he is actually a Red mage in this case considering that red mages can use both black magic and white magic this single act does make him one of the most powerful red mages in existence
Makes sense, he’s also canonically the only Disney character to serve in the military and saw combat in the Pacific, which is where his ptsd comes from.
@@sephikong8323 highly yes, he was able to cast zeta flare which mind you is two tier above the strongest flare have been casted in the game beforehand something that could even drain/kill god and for the marvelous fact the he didn’t just instantly become dust mean he got ENOUGH mana and hp to cast it
What I gathered from the context clues: Donald Duck can canonically cast what is essentially anime wizard death star beam. I choose to assume that this ability is shared by every iteration of the character.
Apparently a death beam that usually requires a connection with a multiversal being of unknown origins, and one he's seemingly used before. Word of good wisdom: Don't mess with the Duck!
So, you are telling me that this guy Is: - A caring Uncle for three kinda annoying Boys, and a caring boyfriend for Daisy - A wizard capable of using One of the strongest spells in the Final Fantasy Universe - He works without pay for Scrooge day and Night because he needs to repay some million dollars of debths - A Batman-like vigilante Who fights criminals and Avenges the wrong done to Donald by (usually) Gladstone and Scrooge - Two different secret agent identities No wonder he sleeps so much
Yep Donald Duck is the real deal. That Duck sure has quite a busy life. He is practically the closest thing those triplets have to father. He isn’t their father but he is their daddy. It would be cool if they knew about his secret identities. I’m sure Scrooge knows about his adventures as a black mage (especially since he’s in the game) and Paperinik. Knowing how Disney likes to expand on other universes I wonder if they’ll expand even further on this one.
@@Christopher_Woods actually, Scrooge doesn't know about Paperinik. The reason Is mainly that he would force him to only protect his Money using Donald's debths as an excuse
Well, I think caring Uncle and Boyfriend is stretching it a little depending on the iteration. In some comics Donald's and Daisy's relationship is pretty toxic. If we go by new Ducktales Donald tho, then yes.
Something NO ONE mentions during this event is that these kids can literally move faster than light. In KH2 ending boss battle, Sora and Rikku consistently REACT to light speed attacks. Where Terranort should be equivalent to that to even pose a combative threat. Meaning, not only did Donald cast Zettaflare, a spell to SURPASS the highest level of Bahamut the Dragon God of Final Fantasy, but he casted that spell BEFORE INSTANTANEOUS. He decided to use this spell, charged the mana, and obliterated a PRIME ability keyblade master, ALL before a light speed attack would have even been shot off. I think THAT is the truly horrifying part of this all no one mentions...
I came here thinking it would be donald being epic with his Ducktales line "I am the storm". I found Donald being the most powerful mage in Square enix. I am content
Now you know why he called himself the storm because his storm is like no other. A Zettaflare is capable of possibly destroying a solar system. Quite frightening when you think how powerful Donald Duck is. If his family knew about his abilities I don’t think Magica DeSpell would stand a chance.
Just wanna remind everyone that Donald didn't just KO Terranort. He deleted him. There was no trace of a body or even the ashes after getting hit with that attack. For context, when Lingering Will used his Ultima Cannon, Terranort survived.
That's a zettaflair it's the most powerful magic spell I know of in final fantasy and oy gods can give this power. Essentially Donald is more powerful than most final bosses from that franchise
What’s more, we never see a heart float away, neither Terra’s nor Xehanort’s, implying he didn’t just evaporate Terranort’s body, he evaporated both their hearts along with it
Old video but as a kingdom hearts fan I have to add another factor to how impressive this feat is. In kingdom hearts when you die your heart is released to move onto the final realm (unless it is by heartless, in that case it is captured) and hearts are largely regarded as unable to be destroyed, damaged sure, broken, but not outright destroyed. Basically a heart is always there. Why am I mentioning this? *You don't see a heart get released during or after the beam* Donald hit terranort so hard he didn't just kill him, he outright deleted his very existence to the point something thought unable to be destroyed was reduced to *nothing*. he overkilled him so much he straight up sent him to oblivion. And this is a series that said hearts have survived. 1.being ripped apart from the inside via memories (a key component of the heart in universe) being straight up ripped out of it. 2.being converted to data then that data being blown up. 3.Being poisoned by darkness and then pretty much ripped out of the body. 4.and on two separate occasions it has survived a keyblade beam (something that is pretty much regarded as a true piercing attack since it is designed to penetrate any magical defense and unlock any lock behind those defenses.) And yet we don't see a heart here. It straight up got deleted.
Cap. You only release a heart if a heartless kills you. If a nobody, unversed or non-heartless Disney villain take you down, there's no heart above sora in the game over screen.
@@violent_sneezes5113 not quite, Kingdom hearts 3 retcons that to establish the final world is the afterlife considering it's stated it is 'the final stop', thus where you go even if your death is not via heartless, the final world is just the limbo your heart goes to before passing on. So despite not seeing a heart in kingdom hearts 1 and 2 when being beaten by certain enemies 3 retconed it to all deaths release a heart, just heartless in particular prevent you from moving on to the final world. If the final world detail was not there then yes, heartless and key bearers would be largely the only ones able to rip out a heart in death.
@@iamsinistar8971 old post but considering the aftermath it is likely zetaflare is a desperation attack that also burns up the users own life force (supported by the aftermath and goofys reaction to seeing it being charged up) for Donald to use it since he immediately went down afterwards (it wasn't stated if he died but the giving off particles of light thing tends to occur on users who are actively dying such as sora in kingdom hearts 1)
Random show? That wasn't random, it was the DUCKTALES remake and the reason we have closure on TAILSPIN, as well as new origins for RESCUE RANGERS and DARKWING DUCK. Please, give respect to the glorious work.
Everything about this scene is perfect. The fact that Mickey is confused, the fact that Donald unleashes a fucking concentrated beam of atomic explosions, the fact that Bahamut, a *_literal dragon_* cannot even cast it, making Donald fucking Duck more powerful than him, Terranort getting utterly obliterated (he gets better,) Sora being happy about said obliteration, and, of course, the icing on this cake, Goofy reacting as though _he's seen this spell used by Donald before._ Then, you go and make it *_even better_* by syncing it up with Bury The Light. Bravo, good sir. Bravo.
Even when we get an actual Bahamut that can cast it, sure he's way more powerful, but his charge time was ungodly, and he still needed an external boost. Donald fully charged before Goofy hit the ground! He may not be as powerful or have the stamina to stay conscious after, but Ret. Navy Sgt. Duck's eighty-five plus years worth of fury and destructive rage means it comes so natural.
No, Bahamut can cast it in Final Fantasy XVI. Said Bahamut is the creation of a guy who was the mage-king of a species that had an innate affinity for Ultima magic. So, y'know. A wee bit stronger than the average Bahamut.
"To understand just how strong a magic wielder has to be to cast Zettaflare, it's important to take a look at the spell's naming conventions. By and large, Square Enix uses Greek prefixes to quantify the power of different Flare spells. The first tier to take advantage of this metric is Megaflare, where the prefix mega- denotes a factor of power that comes with six zeros. This is followed by giga-, tera-, peta- and exa-, each increasing the spell's potency by three additional zeros, respectively. The last unit prefix in line boasting 21 zeros in total is zetta-, which means that the damage incurred by a single Zettaflare equals that of a septillion base Flare spells." -Donald Duck Is Final Fantasy's Strongest Magic User Also according to this article, the only other characters who are confirmed to be able to use this are Bahamut in Final Fantasy XIV and Airy from Bravely Default.
without context this looks like the random dude hugs that girl from Sonic 06 as Sephiroth is abut to hit them but then Donald fucking duck pulls out the kamahama wave and kills serphiroth all while anime goofy and mickey mouse watch from a distance
Speaking of the random dude hugging the girl at first, WHAT THE HELL WAS HIS PLAN THERE? He didn't even tackle her out the way! They both would have been cleaved in half! Was he just lonely and suicidal or something?
Only ever played Kingdom Hearts to help my 10-year old sibling with a boss, and I think it goes without saying, Donald's anger issues have to be channeled somewhere, so he recreated God's toddler tantrum as a meter-wide infinite laserbeam. That's some Dragonball Super levels of power.
The fact that this looks like one of those Meme battles where ironically strong characters do some sicko mode shit but instead this is in an official game.
Yeah it feels like some Resident Evil game but the mod is Donald and it's just ridiculous but it's real. That's not a mod, that's Donald "Obliterate is an understatement and a first level achievement" Duck.
I don't think enough people realize how absolutely mind meltingly insane this moment was. I can think of only 2 uses of zettaflare other than this, one is the absolute final boss of bravely default, and the other is primal bahamut. In the ff14 trailer terraflare is the attack used to absolutely devastate the world and usher in ARR, that's the fire they used to kill ff14 1.0. That was terraflare, in an event fight against him he used zettaflare which is canonically even stronger than terra by magnitudes. In other words Donald didn't fire a magical nuke, he fired a magical planet buster!
Fun fact: Donald is the third mage out of the entire Square Enix universes to be able to cast Zettaflare, often regarded as one of, if not the strongest spell to exist. This makes Donald Duck one of the strongest spellcasters to exist.
Not the third *mage* The third *being* The other two entities to use Zettaflare were a multiverse devouring fae God using an eldritch being as a magical heat sink just to survive it, and the most powerful version of the dragon Bahamut ever seen. By the way, a version of Bahamut from that same game used a version of flare that was only a fraction the power of Zettaflare, and it canonically reset the universe. Donald Fauntleroy Duck is the one and only mortal to have ever been able to cast Zettaflare, and did it with an ease that even gods could not manage.
If you didn't know casting zettaflare literally costs your soul. Burning that spell costs your entire physical being. And Donald did it to save his friends. It speaks volumes.
Donald Duck is glorious!! Filled with a rage that would stagger a god from his PTSD resulting from his horrific war service he should have self destructed long ago. Instead he channels that fury into the protection of his family and friends. He’s an inspiration to all of us that ever wore a uniform!!
It's Disney. What do you expect? The fact that I don't play this series because of the damn childish Disney in the game that make this game is hard to take seriously
In Final Fantasy lore, magic of that level is strong enough to merge entire worlds, including the souls of those living on it, and as such can probably also destroy them so it's fair to say Donald actually literally deleted the guy from existence

There seem to be some misconception what Donald Duck is.
He is the kings court magician, aka, the one out of all the mages in the kingdom recognized for his talent and ability
Not the Court Healer or Court Priest etc.
Everytime you complained about him not healing you?
Its like asking a mechanic to perform surgery, sure he got some first aid knowledge but thats not what he is trained for.
This Zettaflare is divine realm magic, aka magic that would drain even "gods" in the FF/Disney/KH universe, the fact that donald have enough magic in him to perform this magic and not turn into dust is a marvel in its own, thst his only drawback is getting knocked out from having his MP/HP drained to cast this spell
At the beginning of KH1 he was weaker then Yen Sid and Merlin, but while Sora been losing his powers over and over Goofy and Donald havent, their skills, experience and training fighting all kinds of heartless and bosses is what drove donald to reach this power.
In terms of character class you could say he evolved from "Scholar" to a Sage because something you need to keep in mind is that over the years of FF classes, they are usually not linear, they usually have a range of options of how to customize the build
And in donalds case he simple took a few points towards healing because he saw it as necessary to be of service to his king, and more points to it later because Sora was being a weak clutz who needed the helping hand.
But at the core Donald is both personality wise and character wise a offensive aspect, who is trained to cast offensive magic foremost but forced to take support actions.

*You don't see a heart get released during or after the beam*
Donald hit terranort so hard he didn't just kill him, he outright deleted his very existence to the point something thought unable to be destroyed was reduced to *nothing*. he overkilled him so much he straight up sent him to oblivion. And this is a series that said hearts have survived.
1.being ripped apart from the inside via memories (a key component of the heart in universe) being straight up ripped out of it.
2.being converted to data then that data being blown up.
3.Being poisoned by darkness and then pretty much ripped out of the body.
4.and on two separate occasions it has survived a keyblade beam (something that is pretty much regarded as a true piercing attack since it is designed to penetrate any magical defense and unlock any lock behind those defenses.)
And yet we don't see a heart here. It straight up got deleted.
I'm guessing there's a catch to using it though cause otherwise Donald would erase literally every villain in the series.

The first tier to take advantage of this metric is Megaflare, where the prefix mega- denotes a factor of power that comes with six zeros. This is followed by giga-, tera-, peta- and exa-, each increasing the spell's potency by three additional zeros, respectively. Nearly ninety years of his infamous fury

Donald just incinerated terranort, he’s just dust
He isn't even dust. He was erased from all of existence. Not even Atoms remain
cant believe a duck erased terranort from canon
Nah, not even atoms of him remain
In Final Fantasy lore, magic of that level is strong enough to merge entire worlds, including the souls of those living on it, and as such can probably also destroy them
so it's fair to say Donald actually literally deleted the guy from existence
