It sucks that the current climate of the gaming industry has resulted in hate for genuine diversity, on one hand most representation in games these days is so blatantly forced and gives off a "the bitches gonna love this" vibe whilst actual good representation is chalked up to being woke because everyone's sick of what we've had for like the last 4 years
@@ayitssyaboi1443 I agree. The issue here is the need for DEI to be looked at and celebrated, when it should be the norm. There are many instances where diversity and representation have been done really well, and no one talks about it, because the point is, you're not supposed to when it's been implemented properly by the development team. Why is DEI so important... The fact to me is that, it's just progressive guilt ridden people who have to make this 'activity' the front and center of everything they do and every decision made, has to go through the lens of DEI. I played Ghost of Tsushima in Japanese anyways, so this lady as the voice actress is irrelevant to me, but it's definitely a red flag. I'm still going to give it a chance due to how much I loved GoT and that game had cool female characters that were portrayed in a non-beat you over the head that they're "strong females" sort of way.
There's a way of portraying female characters without them having to be better than men. They can show their worth without it being a competition... And I think the DEI push is just dumb
I never expected a GoT2 and frankly question if anyone who did actually played the game. Tsushima is done. The next game was always going to be a new location with new characters, and dragging Jin along to somewhere he had no personal ties was never going to live up to GoT. Yotei looks awesome, and I'm loving the influences from the likes of Princess Mononoke and even Kill Bill. Complaints about a female protagonist are proving the point of DEI. Gamers are regressing back into misogynistic incels thanks to the brainrot that is 'anti-woke'.
I agree with your points, but I keep asking myself, who asked for Ghost of Yotei? The concept itself, I don't think any market research was done to understand the reception this game would have. It's easy to label everyone as misogynistic, but I think we need to understand what the fans of the game were expecting the next game to be. Part of me will always give SP the benefit of doubt. But I don't agree with how DEI has been the leading factor in most gaming projects in the last few years. I'm looking forward to Ghost of Yotei, whatever it may be. Is there any evidence to suggest this game is doomed to fail besides the lead actor's ideologies? I saw where a former exec said "don't like it don't buy it" but that's a former Sony exec. It's not Nate Fox or Jason Connell. It wasn't even the main actor. But most people i've seen only point to those two things. Main actor is a social activist and the former sony exec's comment. Is there anything else to really look out for? That's not enough evidence to suggest this game won't be worth it.
There has been instances in pop culture where there has been race swaps, and gender swaps of established characters. In a sense, people are arguing that this has happened many times before. So Rey Palpatine instead of Luke Skywalker or in Spiderman 2 - we had a lot more missions with MJ or Miles when we should be playing as Spiderman. In Uncharted, they did a spin off game with two female characters instead of Nathan Drake etc... and now they think the same is happening with Ghost of Yotei.. But I'm not convinced just yet that this is the case. In theory what we have are two separate games, with different names. If its a DEI game, we will soon realise this, but I didn't want to overact like most others did, just because she was a female MC - I think that's wrong. The VA is an activist - but also if the next FF game had a female MC in FF17, would everyone automatically think that game was woke? Or had Ghost of Yotei had come out first with a female MC, and then Ghost of Tsushima had just been announced - would anyone react in this way?
