I hope so too. One can have solace in the fact that this was in the West Bank and not Gaza so most likely she wasn’t experiencing the (genocidal) carpet bombing there. However, there have been a lot of violence still in the West Bank (bombings, shootings by Israel) since oct 7, as well as mass arrests and midnight raids. I haven’t heard much of the former happening in Nablus (where this video was filmed) as for the latter, I hope she wasn’t affected as much by it as it happens all over the West Bank.
People in the West Bank tend to be a lot more secular than those in Gaza. After all, their ruling body (the PA) is a secular organisation which is an offshoot of the PLO which was a socialist secular resistance group (or terrorists by Israel’s classification). There are underground communities there where they openly smoke weed and are openly gay, which tend to stay underground as it’s not part of the conservative culture, despite it being secular (as is the case with many secular Arab countries).
Gazans tend to be more religious and conservative, mainly due to hamas having a strong presence there (who were funded and bolstered by Israel back in the 80s and 90s). I used to think they’re all ultra conservative nuts until I recently realised that’s not the case. There are many in Gaza who don’t subscribe to hamas’ ideology and brand of conservatism, yet support them regardless as they see them as their only hope in the oversized concentration camp they live in. This can be evidenced by the fact that hamas won the election in 2005 by only approximately 44% of the vote, in addition to what I’ve learned from Gazans recently. Add to that the fact that Gazans don’t have as much privilege as those who live in the West Bank do, and you get a better image of why they tend to be more conservative.
Sorry for rambling on, I felt the need to share what I learned about Palestinians’ culture, in the hopes of it helping to humanise them to whoever reads this.
      Sincerely,
      A secular Arab

Queer people in Gaza seek asylum in Israel and ask for help from the Queer people in Israel, like me. There's like a weird mental separation between reality and ideology that can't see the actual people whom they speak of. Because there's not a single lgbtq person who lived in Gaza and speaks for Gaza. Not a single one, and that speaks volumes. There is not a single one who lives there and would be able to speak freely without being raped and murdered.
6 facts you do not want to be lied about this subject:
    1. Willingness vs Hate: The Jewish people leaders set through many two-state-solution plans and accepted them, not only before being a state but also after. Gaza could've been a state as well with 80% of the land - yet still chose NOT to be one, why? because "from the river to the sea" - ethnic cleansing. Hamas is a terror organization that was elected democratically, by who? the people in Gaza.
    2. Casualties: The combatant-to-civilian death ratio in this war is unprecedented. The ratio in Gaza is about 1:1.5 and less than 1:2. In other words, for every combatant killed, around 1.5 civilians are killed. As a point of reference, according to the UN, civilians usually make up around 90 percent of casualties in war. That’s a 1:9 ratio (one combatant for every nine civilians). Every loss of civilian life is tragic, but with this ratio, not only should Israel not be accused of genocide (that’s obvious), world leaders should be applauding the IDF’s precision-strike capabilities. That is although Hamas uses their own people as human shields, putting their attack stations in homes, under hospitals, hiding behind their own people. Which makes the loss even higher as the population in Gaza is dense - rising from 100k in 1947 to 2M (a growth which is the opposite of what happens in a "ghetto”). If Hamas wouldn't have stolen billions for their leaders sitting in Qatar instead of investing in their people, and wouldn't have refused time and time again for two-state solution (even when offered 80% of the land), and wouldn't have terrorized Israelis for years and years, and wouldn't have been raping, murdering and kidnaping jews, christians, muslims and druze.... there would be no war. Not ever. There's this saying, if Israel put their guns, there would be a second holocaust - if Gaza put their guns down, there would be a state.
    3. Apartheid: Israel is the only democratic state in the entire Middle East - where all of us, jews muslims christians druze can live as equals (yoseph haddad

Yup, and as a Palestinian I need to tell you that I have family members who are gay and lesbian and MANY friends as well. But unfortunately, in our culture they cant come out openly to the public in Palestine not only for cultural views but sadly because of political ones. I just need you to imagine one thing for a sec, not to feel empathy or view what I'm about to tell you as a victim statement, but just imagine for a sec if you kindly allow me. Imagine you're living in an open air prison in an apartheid state that is blocking and bombing the hell out of your overpopulated small city, destroying your homes, hospitals, schools, assassinating doctors, kicking you illegaly out of your most safe haven (your home) that'll ultimately make you feel the need to view an extremist Islamic militant group as your ONLY hope for survival and fighting back. So, you will be obliged to somehow conform to their traditions and mentality atleast in PUBLIC, but that doesn't mean agreeing or accepting every political aspect that their government has. That's why some of these folks in the video are forced to alter what they say out in the open in front of the camera, but in reality they might be okay with it, they might be supporting it and they might be even gay themselves, or have family members or friends who are, but they can't really acknowledge it out loud. But what I'm sure of is that's how my extended family in Palestine feel. People in Palestine, although are mostly conservative, would be open to changes and accepting the reality of the world, and passing certain things under the rug regardless of their religious and cultural views if they were free, have their land, state and full rights equal to all others in the land. Now I am Palestinian, but unfortunately I'm a refugee in Lebanon as well as my entire family members, I have been working in an international company in Dubai for 8 years before being laid off due to Covid, and like I said I have family members who are gay and lesbians, some of them are here in lebanon and others in US, but unfortunately they STILL cant come out to the public, although physically safe, but simply because of the Arab traditions and their unacceptance of the LGBTQ COMMUNITY. Their parents know and so do their siblings but this just simply cant be brought out to the public, and there's no need for it I believe. Luckily my whole family is very close, loving and supportive of their children, so that's all that is needed for them and they have their friends, so the hell with other people and society. And me personally, I have gay friends from all over the world, luckily from having a chance of working in Emirates Airlines and meeting people from all across the globe, who I love dearly. Thank you if you read this far, and I can tell you as a proud Palestinian, among MANY others, we acknowledge, support, and deeply love the LGBTQ+ community, and are very honoured and appreciative of their support to our cause, because it is a cause of humanity before anything else, just like LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY's cause. 😘 Its about the Palestinian people not their government or Hamas. So all the love, support and honour to you guys from 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸😘, and happy Pride 🏳️‍🌈❤

I support Israel doing what it needs to do for their protection against annihilating forces. As a queer why would I support a culture who supports annihilation of Jews, queers and so called “infidels”? Queers supporting Palestine is akin to Jews for Hitler. In my country we're orthodox christians and I think a question like this would be met with more macho reactions and bigotry from men because they would feel threatened by the idea of a gay man standing up for them, like they're not men enough. My perspective as a so-called "gay for Palestine", is that even if people think I'm immoral and don't appreciate my support, I will still support. This matter is not about supporting them to consequently gain acceptance for my people. It's about standing for the dignity of all people and the sanctity of life. This is important to me.
"What if every single Palestinian wants to personally murder the gays?" Some asked me. Genuinely. A laughable hypothetical, but one that wouldn't be much of a problem if the world grows a pair and starts (humanely) intervening in gross injustices, the situation in Palestine is a brilliant place to start.
One person said to me that Palestinian children shouldn't grow up because they will stone people like you, I condemn this comment and affirm that all children have the right to grow up, and grow up with support and love and with all their needs met, no matter what. If it comes to killing children a child for me or myself being stoned to stone, I would rather be stoned, thank you.
I find it bemusing that countries like America are suddenly considered bastions of queer rights... as long makes it easier for them and their allies to get away with murdering other groups. It's curious that in my personal experience the same people making these arguments above are the same who vote for politicians and parties who make their main political platform the rollback of queer rights and protections.

Israel's treament of Palestine is reprehensible, regardless of Palestinians' views on homosexuality. These are separate matters. Being queer shouldn't blind you to the injustice of genocide, apartheid and forced displacement.
Solidarity sometimes means supporting people who may not reciprocate that support for you. You may think it's hypocritical, but true hypocrisy would be for a queer person to want liberation for themselves but not for others.
Queers for Palestine aren't saying they all want to pack up and live there. But let's not forget that queer Palestinians exist, and they are murdered by Israel too. They will not be free without freedom from Israeli oppression.
People who pit queers and Palestinians against each other tend not to care about either group, so best if they stay out of it.
