    While I was comparing the controls to my TM3, it was quite impressive your opinions and judgement were independent and not comparing any particular EV. Kudos.

      Interesting! I drove most ev's but so far missed the Y. Lack of climate control and the crappy radio combined with weak regen rules the MG out for me. Then QLD country has no roads to do the Y justice.

    So did MG provide any comment as to why the second row seats are markedly differnet to the same model available in the UK, India etc? [ie the Oz car rear seat has no third headrest, pull down armrest & cupholders].

    From a 3rd party perspective, would regenerative braking engage the brake lights (even if you don't press the brake pedals)? Curious.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes the physical brake lights show during regen braking

  • @DarrylDeAbreu
    @DarrylDeAbreu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am curious if a simple installation of a Throttle Controller to the pedal will fix this delay in acceleration.
    It worked in a Fiat 500 I had and a relatives Merc B180. You could tune the responsiveness of the pedal.

    Nice to see what all the fuss is with the refreshed MG ZS EV. For the price increase, it seems the Mark 1 is still better value for money, no?
    Some observations of this EV from your video:
    1. The size of the numbers on the dash appear relatively small. Did you find your attention is drawn away, since there are other colourful symbols on the dash taking your eyeballs away? In the Mark 1, which I have driven in Canberra, I like the digital speedometer being in the centre of the dash.
    2. No autosteer (or lane assist)? That's surprising.
    3. When you used the traffic aware cruise control, did you notice what kind of braking occurred? Did regen braking kick in or just the physical/hydraulic brakes?

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The speedo was clear enough for me. Cruise control uses hydraulic braking (not regen) at low speeds

    • @DonnyDonnMendoza
      @DonnyDonnMendoza 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It seems like the customer and post-sales (i.e. servicing and warranty) for the MG are far superior to the BYD in Australia but it seems like it's not BYD's fault. There's been some drama to the Australian roll out of the BYD and it's not positive drama unfortunately. There's enough material out there that already covers it.

    Can you turn off the new suburb bings? That would get annoying fast! Maybe by using google maps via Apple CarPlay would be the solution. I don’t think this is quite right for me. I love it, but I need a bit more range. Maybe the next refresh will be for me.

    • @seanm4405
      @seanm4405 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When thinking about range, how often are you travelling 300km in one burst without stopping for a half hour break?
      I have just received my ZS EV and agonised about the range prior to purchase. However, thought about the question above and realised in the past 5 years, the answer to the above question was none. It’s about changing the way you think about how you manage your vehicle. The chemistry of this ZS is designed so you get home at the end of the day and plug it in. Or, in my case, I can do my two trips to the city for work (270km) and plug in on day three for solar charging.
      As a society, we are programmed to think of range in ICE terms. But, if we are not actually using the range, we have wasted resources in a. The weight of the car b. The global ecological footprint to harvest the required parts for larger battery packs b.2 The finite and expensive battery components (lithium / cobalt etc)
      In respect of the last point, considering slave human (child and adult) labour is predominantly used to harvest the rare minerals used to obtain the chemical components for the batteries, it is our responsibility to ensure we have the smallest impact on the pain and suffering of others.

    My wife and I both drove the new MG and both of us hated it. It's lane keep is horrible and violent, it's infotainment system is awful and the picture quality of its 360 degree camera is extremely poor, and I do not know why the Chinese love to hide the storks behind the steering wheel both the MG and my wife Haval Jolion are shocking and making it impossible to see how to operate them with the cruise control on the MG also being on a stupid stork and also impossible to see and so complicated to set and adjust!

      @@chefgav1 First Chinese car yes, last Chinese car? Probably not, I still do not like her one, but it's far nicer than the MG, looking forward to the new MG4 as that is a completely new platform and full EV as well. The Haval is awful with its dual clutch transmission especially using the adaptive cruise control in slow moving traffic. But on the open road it's very nice to drive and as I have said already far better lane keep no ping pong like the MG and no sudden yank you back in the lane as with the MG. I do not like both the Haval or MG infotainment system, give me physical buttons for the most used systems on the car where I never have to take my eyes off the road. At least with a Tesla or other maker with a good lane keep system taking your eyes off the road to adjust things mostly mean not crossing the centre line and onto incoming traffic which is far more likely in city driving. I guess your standards are lower than most as the MG is low quality in our opinion especially when it's made by the same parent company that makes the LDV which has been Proven in court that the steel used is very low quality as seen in the LDV T60 that turned into a rust bucket in just 3 years.
