I moved to Florida two years ago because my whole family moved here. I didn’t want to be far away from them for health reasons. The heat is unbearable in the summer. I never thought I’d say this but sometimes I miss shoveling snow. I miss the changes in seasons.
What do we expect to happen when every corporation lives by the motto of "Grow! Grow! Grow!" That is unsustainable, and people are finally starting the feel the affects of too many people and not enough resources to go around.
I reside on the other side of the country and all of your comments pertain to my area as well. I think overall, changes are happening everywhere. Good video. Thank you.
I miss the Florida of my youth. I miss the Miami Beach that was so relaxed and affordable. Yes, it was the retirement capital of the country but that is why it was great.
My wife and I live in WNY. We come down every year for a month or two. Usually to Sanabel, but that still isn't rebuilt yet. We rented this past March in St, Augustine. Different weather on the Atlantic side for sure. I could never live in Florida, too hot for too long and the traffic is crazy. We get a couple snowstorms, but no hurricanes, no tornados, rarely a severe thunderstorm, never more than two inches of rain, house is paid for. See you in March.🙂
We moved out of state from Daytona after 54 years. Final straw was when insurance company emailed that they went under 10 days after I mailed the one year premium. All the reasons you listed are very real. The changes in lifestyle were so gradual I didn't realize that my errands were planned around time of year and day. It took weeks of waiting through 3 light changes just to get over the bridge for me to decide it's time to maybe move to Ocala but the struggle to find insurance by raising the deductible did it.
Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton, Palmetto, Parrish were very pleasant and delightful towns. Things began to change in the mid to late 90's with new development east of I-75. Super popular Lakewood Ranch outpaced their development plan by 2 decades with single family homes. Now there are endless multi-family apartment projects popping up all over too. But, there have not been any major road infrastructure improvements to handle the massive increase in vehicle traffic and what is yet to come. So the area is mired in Miami like traffic. This definitely has very negatively impacted the quality of life. Plus the home prices have skyrocketed. So yeah, it's not the Florida I knew coming up and definitely not where we plan to spend our retirement regretfully. Shedding a tear for what's been lost!
This is a very realistic and honest view of life in Florida. I had so many wonderful vacations in Florida in the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90,s, but never want to go there again and taint those great memories. Not having income tax is not worth paying $6,000 for homeowners insurance. I’ve heard property taxes are absolutely crazy, as well.
I've lived in Fl for 43 years. Moved from S Fl to C Fl, lived in Ormond Beach for 35 years until traffic, noise, and people became unbearable. 13 months ago I moved to a N Fl. rural panhandle town. I'm happy to be where people say hello to each other, etc... I love it here, it's like C Fl used to be, but much colder in the winter. The other reason I moved here is, so I can actually leave if there is an evacuation. I'm 15 mins from 75 and then another 10 mins to 10, and I'm out of Fl. There are so many people here now that it will be impossible to get out of S Fl. C Fl.
Very well presented and accurate. I first lived in St Pete in 1968, Sarasota in 1972 and Orlando in 1989. Worked in Michigan until 2018. We visit Florida a couple times per year but Michigan is so much better when you compare health care, ease of travel and overall a lower cost of living. But it snows in the winter. Can't have it both ways
Been living in Homestead 49 years and everything changed after Andrew, now we have building all over, astronomical prices with the same roads as 50 years ago what took me 5 minutes to go to cvs 1.6 miles away takes me now 20 minutes.Do not know my neighbors all the old ones sold and move out.My wife and I are retire and have been thinking of moving to Tenn.

Old Florida was Great and why we wanted to live herr and could afford to live down here. New Florida Sucks. The weather and no state income tax are the best reasons to stay however property taxes have gotten to high. Some of the florida laws Desantis has out into place helps us want to stay here. A nice 3br house near the gulf coast will cost me around $900k now. I can buy a similar home in Indiana for $150k and my homeowners insurance will be 1/3rd the cost compared to Florida. Retired people can live in the midwest cheap and travel to Asia or South America for the winter and vacation much cheaper than a winter vacation in Florida. People have a lot of options these days !!
Florida will break you. The insurance rates, not just for home, but cars too are out of control. Add in the property taxes and heaven help you if you bought in an HOA...
Lisa, I was planning to move full time to FL. My son is in Pt.St.Lacey and I lived in Palm Beach Gardens. The reason I never could stay all the time was due to it being so hard to make a living in my field. So for the last 50 years I would drive back and forth between so Fl and NY, NJ, and PA with the plan of staying in FL when I was ready for retirement. As for now that plan is scraped. I am very disappointed economics has created a barrier.
All great points. I purchased in Venice a little over 3 yrs ago and since then this small area has transformed significantly. Manasota, Blind Pass, Englewood, and Stump Pass beaches were all easy to visit and park. Now…, you’re lucky to find a parking spot at times! That said, most visiting the beaches are vacationing. So, most of the beach population is transient and not full timers. But, the beautiful thing is…., spring here starts in December and runs through April! You can be outside every day during those very grey and cold months up north. So…, it’s all worth it for me!😀
Saw this in my sidebar. I left Florida 10 years ago and am so glad that I did. Florida is a very seductive place when you've been on vacation and your vacation took you away from cold weather. Living there is a very different story. I would never live there again. To quote someone I saw on TV -- "Florida is a cultural wasteland". That's one problem lol.

I bought in Key West in 2020 and my home owner insurance is insane. It has gone up 4 x. My auto insurance for a Mini Cooper is 3800 a year! My property taxes are over 20k. Yes, the home is expensive and yes the home is on an island right in the middle of the ocean. But, prices went up too fast. I've never seen it like that, a 180 change in prices.

I just visited Florida fort Myers and Sarasota area four baseball games and we looked around and housing and saw so many little cookie cutter neighborhoods. And they just did not look appealing. Were from the Pittsburgh area and we're in a nice North Pittsburgh area and we don't even have to lock our house, but we do. I am definitely changing my opinion on Florida, seeing it for 2 and 1/2 Weeks. Spring training wasn't even relaxed.
It’s good that you figured that out now. A lot of people figure it out after they have uprooted their life. It’s good to wait and watch before making a drastic move.
I've never lived in Colorado but always wondered what happened to that once beautiful, well managed state. How did the left get a hold of it. I was in CA for 60 years so I lived through that 'wonderful' transformation.
Moved to Palm Coast last fall. Home prices here are still pretty reasonable if you're not by the beach or on a canal. $325,000 to $425,000. Plus it's not a tourism hot spot so it's mostly locals all the time. Daytona to the south and St. Augustine to the North gets those. Love it here. Only time traffic is kind of heavy is when school gets out to about 6PM. I think there are still mellow places in Florida if you do a little homework. But it is growing fast - new construction everywhere (and transplants like me are driving it).
0:03 Oh, if you could have been here when Palm Coast didn't have hardly any traffic. Those were the good days. It used to a hidden gem, but not anymore. It used to have nice people here,, but the people who have migrated here have came with bad attitudes and aggressive behavior that we aren't used to. We will be selling our home soon because of the very issue Lisa spoke about. It's sad what's happening to Florida.
@@jay-lamont I hope you find a place more to your liking. I've never noticed the people not being nice. I've seen a couple of "Karens" go off in stores at the employees. But all the people I've dealt with in businesses, doctor's offices, having things done on my home, etc... have been pretty nice. Knock on wood, I haven't had any bad situations driving around here either the six months I've been here. I will say this, regardless where you move it will change. That's inevitable. Nothing stays the same and I've found that the best way to avoid frustration or resentment is to try to adapt and roll with the punches.
Omg I live in Sarasota traffics is shit … I remember days when traffics was just normal …. Something that took 10-15 mins now it takes 1 hour … Sarasota is 1 hour from Sarasota …. Traffic on highways went to shit too … Florida sucks
Thanks for confirming everything that we've been experiencing here in Florida. Moved here from Chicago in 2017 just in time for Irma. That was the beginning of the end, but I didn't realize that until a few months ago. Unfortunately, there is no much better place to move to anywhere in the US, and that's why we are moving out of the country.
I can see noticeable increase of home selling around my area (fort Lauderdale) couple months ago it was very little... which make me wonder where are those people moving to since Florida was the No.1 Inflow state...
There are so many people moving here but lots of people are also now moving to NC and SC as well as Texas and Tennessee. People are becoming so much more mobile.
No, stay gone. Transplants from liberal states with higher costs of living are why Florida prices are shooting up: they are matching prices to YOUR money, not the income of LOCALS. You are literally causing natives to be priced out of our own state. Go sun yourselves on rocks in liberal states. Beaches don't just exist in Florida.
@@christinamorales6887 Lived in Monterey over ten years in the late 90s and 2000s. Loved it and had a great life there, but couldn't afford a home. Moved to the Northern Sacramento Valley and it was easy to buy in 2010. Still. I got sick of the poor air quality (wildfires all summer, fireplace smoke all winter) so when I retired last year I moved to Florida. So glad I did. Life is way better here.
California has cheap areas too. Florida has so many old people, more amenities for that generation. Desantis destroyed Florida by brainwashing students into his beliefs, threatening classroom instruction
Traffic is bad everywhere. It is not the expense of the homes in FLA, they are expensive everywhere near the water. The problem is the taxes and insurance, it puts pressure on home owner fees by increasing the master insurance for the community. Car insurance is very expensive in Florida and property insurance is hard to get. Our Villa near Anna Maria is going on the market this week and we are buying in coastal Delaware. We love it in FL but too expensive. FL Taxes $5500 HOA $835 Ins $3800 Car Ins 750 a month DE Taxes 1700 HOA $180 Ins $1200 Car Ins 250 a month
Florida has been plundered by flippers and investors. Delray Beach (other coast) is now 100-500 percent higher in price vs 2 years ago. And there is TONS of inventory. It’s this biggest bubble in history.
I dont believe that. A former flipper and rehabber, I can tell you the deals I see are almost 100% stupid deals and won't sell as wholesale deals. The field is crowded with newbies and the inept who bought a program and can't make it work.
We just moved down here last August and love it. I have adjusted to living here and do not expect others to make adjustments for me . We ended up in Babcock Ranch and the area is growing
People who are leaving Florida are the ones who should not have moved there in the first place. They all thought it will be very cheap, There is a price to pay to live in a paradise and it comes at a cost ! Live with it and don't bitch. If you don't like it....move !!!
1 million people plus another 5 million undocumented most of the millionaires in Miami. And then of course you have all the migrant workers and West Palm Beach and up here in Stuart and all over Florida. It’s become so on affordable but the whole world is crappy at the moment because of, the Democrat frame of mind.
I used to live on East Coast of Florida In the late 80's Its not the same anymore! I moved to north port last July from Connecticut and ive had it. My home tax has doubled from 2023 even with Homestead Exception and home and car insurance cost twice as much as Connecticut. Sure no State income tax but these costs zero that out and lets not talk about the right wing politics and banning books and taking a woman's rights away! Too Fascist for me.
Unhappy with living in Florida; try relocating to Provo-Orem,Utah or Spokane,Washington; or the Treasure Valley area of Idaho those places are family friendly and are red conservative cities.
Well I'm moved the year before last stayd for 10 months and left. Way too expensive and way too ghetto! However the most friendly people I've ever met was there! Maybe I just chose the wrong town in Florida?
Here's reality, folks. Look at home prices in 2006 before the crash. Then look at them now. Despite what the youtube click freaks will tell you, many areas of Florida are still a bargain.
Wealthy folks are fleeing California. They want water, warmth , freedom, low taxes & bikinis ---they are heading to Florida. These people have $$$. Florida prices are cheap compared to California.
lol! They’re not “fleeing” Florida. They’re cashing-in on the excessive equity they’ve made over the past 3 years. In some cases, they’ve made a 100 % profit.
Leaving because of what it has become. Sarasota especially. Been there 40 years. It is not a good place anymore. Entitled people. Snobby people. So sad.
dont use the word we , our and us when you're part of the problem not from Florida brining out of state money into Florida , that's the root problem and the host is part of that root
This is the best state.
I love “Sarasota is an hour from Sarasota! Truth
Your home can be paid off..but you can't afford taxes and insurance. Retirement home now is in South Tennessee or Georgia.
I wonder if Lisa makes videos where she's not giving us the KU jayhawk.. (Go K-State).
😂, I love my Midwest Home buyers and sellers.
Rock Chalk. I’ll take the increased traffic in exchange over snow and cold in the plains.
I agree. It does get old though.
Will you be able to buy or rent when you move out of the country, if so how is housing cost?
I can see noticeable increase of home selling around my area (fort Lauderdale) couple months ago it was very little... which make me wonder where are those people moving to since Florida was the No.1 Inflow state...
There are so many people moving here but lots of people are also now moving to NC and SC as well as Texas and Tennessee. People are becoming so much more mobile.
If you think Florida is expensive, try California. You will run back to Florida ASAP.
It is all perspective
I know I lived in Monterey Bay, California
FL Taxes $5500 HOA $835 Ins $3800 Car Ins 750 a month
DE Taxes 1700 HOA $180 Ins $1200 Car Ins 250 a month
Traffic is bad everywhere, that's the biggest blanket statement I have ever heard.
Wow, big difference in fees!
@@maxbusinessprofitssergiode5747 what don’t you believe?
We just moved down here last August and love it. I have adjusted to living here and do not expect others to make adjustments for me . We ended up in Babcock Ranch and the area is growing
That is a very popular area. Glad you like it.
I don't like earthquakes and I don't like Hurricanes.
Yes more affluent people are moving here. I’m thinking it’s going to continue.
Affluent drunks.
Poor people are
People who are leaving Florida are the ones who should not have moved there in the first place. They all thought it will be very cheap, There is a price to pay to live in a paradise and it comes at a cost ! Live with it and don't bitch. If you don't like it....move !!!
Paradise😅😅😅
Bingo !
I fled Florida in 1999, before it was a thing.
I hope lots of others follow you. I keep hearing they are but yet housing just goes up and up.
Still love Sarasota.
Great to hear!
Nice place! 😮
1 million people plus another 5 million undocumented most of the millionaires in Miami. And then of course you have all the migrant workers and West Palm Beach and up here in Stuart and all over Florida. It’s become so on affordable but the whole world is crappy at the moment because of, the Democrat frame of mind.
florida not an option for me anymore, not even by sandford
DeSantis told everyone and their grandma to move there. Especially the people living in high cost democrat states. Thanks dude.
We welcome the 1 million new Republican voters. We are a solid free Red state. (Thank GOD!)
Still cheaper than scottsdale.
Cheaper doesn’t always mean better
Still cheaper than California...
Guuuuuuddd BYYYYYEEEEEEE!!!!! 🤗
Most of them move in-state as well.
High electric prices? 10 cents a kilowatt? try California at 64 cents.
What areas in Florida do you think are great value?
Wealthy folks are fleeing California. They want water, warmth , freedom, low taxes & bikinis ---they are heading to Florida. These people have $$$. Florida prices are cheap compared to California.
Way to many Trump supporters there.
keep leaving we have way to many people here good bye and good luck dont come back
Keep leaving!😮
I left Tallanasty last year because too many Commiefornians and Yankees moved in.
Florida becoming California II.
California > Florida. Healthcare, social security, insurance premiums, and mental health services and doctors are better down there
Heaven forbid.
So sad.
Sorry to hear you are leaving. Unfortunately I have heard others mention the same complaints. Take care and I hope your move brings you lots of joy!
Bye never come back …
😂 see ya. Wouldn't want to be ya
✌️ .
Ya'll wont be missed
Kinda sounds like CA
Don't like it here leave !!!
dont use the word we , our and us when you're part of the problem not from Florida brining out of state money into Florida , that's the root problem and the host is part of that root
Transient state
Pack your bags....
People are leaving Fla? 😂 what a joke, this place gets more crowded every day!
Theyre leaving😅😅
Everybody wants to live here.😮
@@marknewton6984 500,000 left in 2022 lmaoooo

@@marknewton6984the heat and bugs are disgusting, nobody even wants to visit.

This is the best state. No nonsense covid policies, restriction of social media for minors, respected rights for everyone not just the extreme left, no state tax, business friendly, protection against creditors, we are not a sanctuary state, population diversity, we have beautiful beaches, continued growth and job opportunities.
Too much growth time for people,e to find another state to run to
Dump
So glad that liberal riff raff are leaving! Ron DeSantis is the best governor in the United States!
Oh Lord, another one of these videos from a realtor. I wish they would leave but as the population increases show, they aren't!
500,000 left fl in 2022😅😅
@@SA-hz1rsDoubtful. And even if that is true. More came. Rents aren't going down.
@@Orlando_Steve big story yesterday about the mass exodus. Went viral too.
@@SA-hz1rsWhat is that 500K number based on? You have to understand that most so-called journalists are homosexuals that hate DeSantis so they try to downgrade Florida any chance they get.
I am leaving because of all the Yankees moving here bringing their attitude and high prices, traffic attitude, and Dem views. They screwed up there state with the way they voted Now messing up Florida. Bye Bye
Move to Kentucky where you belong,
You graphics are annoying
Go Away.
they leave because of terribly high rents and if they are house owners then state collect terribly high tax property and with normal monthly incomes of 4000-6000$ netto its not enough for tax property or rent+bills+ you must eat too and something wear ,other maintenace,car...,
Ron desantis and the gop, votes have consequences, bootlickers🎉
This story is everywhere.. nationwide!! Name a place and you will find a large population that thought the grass was greener in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Carolinas, Georgia, or Tennessee as a start .go to Florida and find the place flooded w people who think, act, talk and spend money like the place they came from.. there is no such place!! Ask anyone from Denver, Austin or Nashville!! Florida is not laid back because it was everyone's goal to make the entire state look like a rap video shot in Miami!! And all that..less government is great sounds great until the government is planning for traffic, flooding, insurance crisis, wildfires and skyrocketing taxes and crumbling infrastructure as everyone from New York and Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Jersey trips over themselves to get to the rare bagel place!! Florida is an absolute disaster..all the chill, redneck outdoors stuff is gone top to bottom, the government is even allowing the Keys and the Everglades to be over developmed. Governor who is against jobs, education, tourism and his own economy!! And a guy who is single handledly trying to kill Florida farming and ranching!! Get out or don't go..
Florida sucks
