one downsize is the rentals . their is a well known tuner peach mcintyre lied on her application renting an apartment for one person failed to put her husband and 9 kids on her application . she is facing possible eviction but i would not want to be in that building i can’t imagine the noises . no thanks

The county of Sarasota just purchased the parcel of land on the east border of Skye Ranch (Allbritton Farms) reportably for their waste management operations. Sarasota county claims it will not be an extension of the existing landfill to the south but rather as a source of soil for the existing landfill. In any event I think some due diligence would be in order for anyone having an interest in this community.

I am so getting out of Washington for Florida once I save up. I can't stand the cloudiness for the vast majority of the year. Day time is often dark because of it with sunsets at 4:30 PM in winter.

HOA enforcement are some of the worst in the Country 100s of pages long, (Example) Lawns have to be green kept a certain Hight and require pesticides to do so. Color changes must be approved through a board at the Hoa headquarters that can take months. Impact fees are so high there added over a 20 year period of the loan. Thats just to name a few things, if that's for you by all means. Some times old is better be, Shure to get a copy of the deed restriction to bring home and go over them . Cheers!

We were in Pelican Cove, Sarasota in 2010, after the crash, and Laurel Park was one of our favorites. However, even then the area was pricy per square foot. We are playing with the idea of either snow birding or maybe purchasing when the time and prices are right. Anything in a flood or storm-serge zone are out for us. We loved Sarasota but life took us back North and then to SOCAL and recently back to PA for grandchildren. Some people who live there will likely bolt due to storms, insurance, HOA increases and wanting to lock in their real estate gains before they melt away. Watch and wait.

They love 2 hour drives to anywhere.

Some people 'hate' florida just becaue people have different preferences. My wife absolutetly hates hot weather. Anything above 80 and she wants to get inside. But temps could be in the 30's or even upper 20's (without wind) and she's find outside with a light-ish jacket on. My brother in law and father-in-law moved to Florida and have been there for 10+ years. When we visit them (yearly), they like to talk about how great it is there, they have used the words 'paradise' more than once. To them mabye it is. For some of us, 4 changing seasons, seeing snow, having 7-8 months of the year that are light-jacket or less walking weather WITHOUT extreme heat...the change of colors on the trees in the fall, seeing everything bloom all at once in the spring, being surrounded by fresh water lakes and rivers....to some of us Florida is NOT paradise and those things I just listed are.

Afternoon Lisa, I just came across your video and have to say I agree and disagree with you. I know half a dozen Snowbirds, who "flocked" down in November. After seeing the damage done by the Hurricanes, and with the rising cost, have decided to make this their last winter in Florida. They are planning to sell, and winter elsewhere. I suspect there will be a flood of listings come the spring.

People don't hate Florida. People are flocking here from out of state. Summers are warm and humid but that happens in SC, GA, TN, MS, AL, LA and on and on. If you shop your insurance you can find a reasonable price.

I like the idea of moving to the villages. I bought into del Webb and feel I overpaid.

As a senior on a fixed income it may be better to rent seasonally than buy. We rented a condo in Sarasota for 6 months in 2010 in our mid 50s. Back then after the crash people were begging you to buy. The beaches are great and sunsets divine but once summer hits it is hot and steamy. If I were to move back it would be Lakewood Ranch in the older low HOA areas and less prone to flooding. Just left SOCAL a year ago and enjoying family in PA, but who knows what the future will bring. Your videos are very informative. Property tax in CA was 1 percent but after the fires who knows.

We had three years of huge increases so 5-7 years of flat or slightly decreasing prices. Rents should fall first.
