Thank goodness for the last two wet summers. Mild conditions and cold weather have been a saviour. I've seen a large boom in trout around Adelaide after a period of poor numbers.
Love that spot, taught myself to fish there back in early 90s, was on a first name basis with most of the fish there. Used to be some nice rainbows in there too and huge reddies in the deep holes. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Thanks for the comment man. I also learnt to fly fish there too. Haven’t seen a reddie for a long time though. And rainbows are scarce but still lovely to fish
@@AdriftFishing There's been an explosion of Rainbows in the other system recently. Been catching 3 rainbows for every brown. They're a lot more athletic than browns thats for sure!
@@danielvodo1 ah really, surprising. Though I did see a good one when I went walking up there last. Love rainbows. Funny in Nz, you’ll walk right past a 7lb rainbow to find a brown lol
there's certainly still a few nice fish in that system i've caught a couple recently, but it has degraded a fair bit over last few years sadly. awesome vid
always like your videos mate, I sure stuck round to the end as always, you don't always have to catch big browns to have fun, even though here in New Zealand we have some whoppers but we have places as you say where they are special to yourself that are just as exciting if not more for the trophy pools as such..
Yeah exactly aye! The next session was even better, will drop that at some point ;) you should see the other creek you’ll laugh at the size it’s tiny. But yeah intimate water is cool to fish
Hey mate, I'm from Brisbane and I'm heading down to Adelaide soon. Any chance you could tell me what river this because I was hoping to try catch a trout while I was down there! Great video as well!
Mate great video. I’ve got a small creek near me in Victoria but I’m not the best fly fisher. I’ve just ordered a 3wt rod and reel combo. Can I ask your setup with the nymph. Is it below a small dry and how long is the nymph below ? Keep up with the videos they all help newbies. And a little jealous lol. Yes I totally understand not reveling your spots. Keep them up.
So in this video I started with a nymph under a dry for the first trout. Then after I changed to a sliding indicator and a two nymph setup. Think the one I use is called “the New Zealand fly indicator” but you can tie a 5 turn Uni knot around your main line and put some fluff in it and pull tight and you have a moving indicator for different depths
Sorry dude there are just so little fish that we have to be a bit hush hush about it, if you do enough digging on the internet you may be able to find some fly forums about spots
I tried a stream in hills i used to fish as teenager early 20’s(25 years ago) last week, pools/sections I would normally at least get a follow yielded nothing unfortunately
@@TheThetechnician yeah I get that too man. 10 years and more ago we’re epic in comparison. Fish everywhere. Bad summers, bad handling for pics. Excess hooks on lures. All adds up.
Lovely looking little stream and a good brownie. Love the snake part.
Lol yeah just missed it aye. Bugger next time lol
Awesome video mate, enjoy the trip, thumbs up and tight lines.
Cheers tony! Take care mate

Yeah I think that’s it, it’s kind of like the old days. It did get really slim 4-5years ago

hey mate, not asking for the spot, just asking if youve fished sixth creek before? if so, any luck?
@@viciousfighterroblox7044 I’ve fished all the creeks and rivers within a few hours of adl. Most hold trout
The snake phobia is a dead give-away you're no longer local. Haha! Btw, great handling. Thanks for not chucking them in the dry dirt.
Haha! Not wrong lol.
Not phobic just more aware than I used to be

@@AdriftFishing that brown was pretty impressive though. Are they being stocked?
@@Fishingreminder nah it’s a fragile self sustaining population

Mate lived here my whole life…. And sadly can’t say I’ve ever tried it, definitely something I’ve put on my bucket list cheers.

Nice one bro, not as big or as plentiful as NZ but very cool.
