Fished there once, lost a lovely rainbow. Its a great spot, I always still stop at the bridge near town whenever we oass that way and look down, sometimes I get to see a trout at least!

Nice to see a totally different type of river, I’ve been intrigued since Luben wrote about it years ago.

Used to live at spalding, lubin could drop a line in your toilet and still catch a fish

I noticed a lot of slate in the ground @ 4:45 and as Broughton river slate surrounds my house, I am going to guess that you are near Spalding, which is where a mate snd I picked a few tonnes from a slate mine back in the early 1990's.

I have lived in southern NSW for 20 years now and a mid north stream still holds the record for the biggest rainbow I have ever seen.

    Great Job Tom
Rumphy always raved about the Broughton i can see why now
I have never been there but it looks interestingly difficult

Yeah but the politics between landowners, SAFFA, and the general public make this river a pain to fish. Better to remember the old days, if you can.

Interesting video. What an extraordinary river and landscape. Definitely not the run of the mill trout stream.

Gotta love cortland I just got a 9ft 4 wght from them for 50 bucks I bought a 4 piece at a yard sale missing one piece called cortland and they said send us the three pieces and 50 bucks and pick your rod warranted and everything even though I told them it was a yard sale purchase my question to you is I was considering overloading the rod one weight a 5 wght line as I have no line yet would you go with the 4wght I was only considering this because I already have a 5wght line do you see any problems besides maybe a little slower action !

You didn't mention that the majority of it is all private land that you need to gain permission.

What a great and unusual place. Awesome fish, too. They need to make kevlar anti snake inserts for waders 🙂And a periscope might have helped ... Cheers PP
