At once i thought who would watch this 45min video but hatsoff to this guy! Very informational and detailed video. Keep it up my guy♥️
Thank you so much 😊 I’m happy you found your way here. 😃👍🏼
I just bought my Rode wireless Pro and because of your full training I could achieve excellent sound recording. Thank you so much!
That’s so amazing!!! So happy you shared this 🤩🙏
I watch waaaay too many instructional videos for technical and audio/visual equipment. You stand out at a presenter who moves at an excellent pace, with clear explanations, just the right mix of facts and examples/applications, and depth of knowledge.
Truly a great presentation. I have now subscribed.
Thank you for this detailed step by step tutorial, MK! Super clear, super helpful!
😃🙏
So detailed. So much effort. Easy to understand. Thank you very much for this.
Thank you so much! 😃🙏
This is the best rode wireless tutorial on TH-cam. The information is spot on useful and you are interesting and engaging. Thank you!
Thank you so so much. I really appreciate it! 😃👍🏼
Pretty sure the reason the clip is plastic and not metal is that you can use it to slide onto hot-shoe mounts on cameras. Hot-shoe mounts have contacts, making it plastic avoids freaking/shorting out any of those contact points. Downside, you need to add the metal sleeve to make it magnetic.
Just got my wireless pro - this guide was extremely useful on setting it up. Thank you!
😃👍🏼
This is a great video. Clear and helpful. Thanks
Unbelievably good and detailed work. Subscribed right now ❤
😃🙏
Outstanding review/tutorial. This covers a lot of small details that are overlooked, or even unknown, by a few other TH-cam videos about these units. I'm coming from the DJI wireless system and this was massively helpful. Thank you.
Mission success! 🤩🤩🤩
Thank you so much for sharing. This is truly an amazing system! Dine same path as you, coming from DJI Mic.
Can’t wait to see if it’s worth a cup of coffee or maybe even two? 😘☕️: geni.us/buymeacoffe
Thanks again for watching! 😃👍
Your explanation of how to create the broadcast loop on the lav and then how to connect the locking ring is spot-on and I can't tell you how many TH-cam videos I've watched where they get one or both of these wrong. Great tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I have seen some of those too and wanted to make sure I would not leave anyone behind in a cloud of confusion 😁👍
Explains everything very well... Great video.
AMAZING VIDEO!!
Thank you so much!
Brilliant just BRILLIANT!!! Just bought this today and awesome tips so THANK YOU!!! 👏👏👏
Very good video, even the smallest things are clearly explained. Thank you.😍
Brilliant video, very easy for me to understand now. I've just bought those as my first mics and didn't really know a lot about it until your video :) thank you
Such a wonderful explanation! Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much sir for your packaged information.
This was very helpful. Mine arrived yesterday. I will be doing some more tests based on your tips. And the lav loop was clutch.
Just bought this. Thank you for a great walkthrough. 🎉

Amazing!! 🤩👍 good luck!
Thank you so much! Your tutorial is so well done that it should be labeled as "Rode official guide". Thank you so much for your great great work!

great video brother thank you
Thank you! 🙏 😃
Nice one Matt’s, great tutorial, i’m a decider; dji, rode or …🥴. Your tutorial is a big help, thanks.
Thanks a lot! Right now the Rode Wireless Pro is without any doubt my favourite. Except if range is super crucial, then I would go for Hollyland Lark Max. DJI mic is not an option for me today.
Just got my rode wireless pro and this video was solid info. Thanks!
So happy to hear! Even after doing a lots of tests with DJI mic 2, this rode is still my 1st choice.
@@MK-Creator it was between this or the new dji’s but out the box Rode sounds waaaaaaay better than the DJI mics
Uff aks, thanks a lot, best video ever, not many people know that you can record with the receiver when using a headset
I’m happy you found your way here. Welcome back many more times.🤩👍
Hi Mats! Thank you for this comprehensive video! At 18:10 you mention that you cannot alter the gain assist settings of the TX directly from the receiver (between MANUAL and AUTO/DYNAMIC). Well, you actually can, if you long-press the left NAV button on the respective TX page ;-) When you then press L again, you can alter the gain manually with the L/R buttons (i.e. basically turn off the gain assist features).
But I agree, AUTO or DYNAMIC does the job most of the time. However, be aware that the gain assist modes do NOT affect the 32-bit on-board recordings anyway...
Cheers, Matthias
First time I've used the thanks button! Great tutorial. Was expecting it to be full of the obvious, but actually ended up learning a few new tricks! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your support. It means everything.
@@MK-Creator I know how you feel (I too am a YT creator)
great Tutorial! I jus't did switched from DJI mic to the Rode Wireless Pro.
The only thing is i can't figure out where to order Rode Wireless Pro back up parts (wind muff, alligator clip etc)
Excellent video and thanks for sharing your view and honest advise. One question I have, If I want to allow sound from another source such as a live mixer from an event what would be the best settings to allow stereo signal? Thanks Shen
Perfect excellent.
😃👍🏼
Thanks for the trick with the lavalier mic screw! I just thought mine had a production failure first. :D
Omg I really hope everyone is watching this video so they don’t ruin their audio 😳👍
I love it when TH-camrs put a lot of effort into teaching about a product
nice video!
😃👍🏼
from this video, what I understood is auto gain also kind of doing good job in ensuring not clipping.
but does it prevent noise from being elevated when we increase db in post?
You saved us on the lav mic issue. How did Rode manage to miss that
Tack Mats, nu ska jag bara fundera ut hur jag satter gain for min FS5.
Hello, interesting video, but I did not understand how to install the application on the PC or on the device. If you can make a more complete video. Thanks, Dan
Thanks for this info. I followed all these settings and I noticed on my last film shoot that the audio was adjusting by itself even though the auto gain was turned off. When the person wasn't talking the volume would boost bringing up the background noise and then when they started talking again the audio volume would drop to balance their levels. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening? BTW, in the camera I have the audio set to manual so I know that's not adjusting.
Hi, MK such a Fan! One question. Do you know why the audio obtained is so low? It doesn't matter if it's in auto, dynamic or manual? I see that many have that problem. Thanks
Thank for the broad and clear master class.
How can I sycn my audio file in Adobe Pre since the timecode does not work ? Do you sync them manually ?
Thank you! 🙏😃
Unfortunately I’m not using Adobe since many years so I honestly can’t assist there…
I'm happy with my DJI mic 2, so much simpler and easier to work with. Plug and play, something this isn't capable of
Funny that you don't use the timecode feature. It was one of the features (along with 32-bit float on-transmitter recording) that sold me on this setup. Of course, I use multiple cameras and a separate audio recorder as well as Deity TC-1s to sync cameras. In my setup, the master clock is provided by the Wireless Pro RX unit and is used to jam-sync my MixPre II and my master TC-1. I use DaVinci Resolve for editing and it supports the LTC audio from the TC-1 (or optionally from the Wireless Pro RX if I'm only using a camera connected to the Wireless Pro). At first I thought this would be difficult to manage but I've been getting some practice with it and it really is a pretty great workflow. A bit more work during shooting but a huge (and I mean huge) time saving in post. Cheers.
Cool thanks for sharing. I actually usually use at least 2 cameras too but I just use the built in audio sync feature in FCPX and it has never failed me so far 😁. Just have to remember to have sufficient audio level on all cameras 🎥🥳👍
is there an option that you can mute the transmitter remotely on the receiver or through the software?
Hi, I have a sony fx3 and it's not on the list of the gain mode. Do you think it's okay to continue with the preset of rode? thanks for the video btw!
I have a DJI action 4. Can I use the USB C to connect the mic and the camera?
Hello!
I've just been out recording my first real paid job with my camera today and everything worked fine, except a strange "bug" with my audio monitoring on my sony A7IV. So i was wondering if any others have experienced the same as me. What I've noticed is that no matter what channels i choose to monitor it does not change anything and it seems like it always monitors all of them at once. The thing i recorded today was with a single røde wireless pro TX on the interview microphone handle attachment. I only used TX 2 for the entire shoot and naturally it came into my camera in channel 2, so everything works fine and as it should. The only thing missing is being able to monitor the one channel alone and link it to both left and right, but for some reason that does not work no matter what I've tried. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
Regarding the orientation of the lavalier microphone: You note that there is a “correct” and “incorrect” side to be facing outward.
To prevent confusion, could one just attach a bright colored piece of tape to the “neck” (where the mic body merges into the wire) of the lab mic on one side?
For instance, maybe a little piece of orange tape on the “wrong side out” side, so as to indicate “warning … if you see the orange tape, it’s backwards” ?
Or perhaps even a little dot of bright orange paint on those circular indentations on the ‘neck’ where the mic head joins the wire.
The fact that the lav mic is black on all sides seems like it would be easy to get it wrong, especially if you’re using the larger deadcat for wind.
tl,dr: Maybe a dot of bright paint on the “wrong side out” side of the lav mic, so you can tell (in low light or rushed situations) if it’s backwards.
Not a bad idea actually 😃👍
when you want to record back up audio do you just press record button on transmitter and when you film itll have 2 seperate files?
I couldn't find the link to download the Rode application as you mentioned in your video. Please send me the link to download it.....Thanks
thanks for this tutorial! Surprised rode didn't make a preset for the sony fx30 which I have, what settings would you recommend for gain? transmitter at 0db then camera to about 6 to hit -12db average or should the transmitter be set lower for better audio quality directly to the camera?
I think that sounds like a great setting. I could consider increase the transmitter and lower the camera maybe to 2-3. Still averaging about -10 to -12 in camera
I noticed you didn't talk about time code. Time code it's a game changer.
Great breakdown...very informative. I wish Rode would have made a better mic clip.
Thank you so much!
Honestly the mic clip have worked surprisingly well for me! And I have used it close to 100 hours now…
@@MK-Creator Any first impressions on the new Dji mic announced today?
They didn't make it magnetic from the beginning likely due to people with pacemakers
😊
I have a Sony FDR AX 53 did anyone no the preset?
as soon as I press C1 to add waypoint, it tells me aircraft not connected to the controller.. no map comes up
ok, the receiver turns off automatically when you turn off the device, but do you have to turn off the transmitters from the button or how?
Yes the transmitters do not turn off when you turn off the camera. That is only for the receiver that is connected with a cord to the camera.
thank you, i just got them. tell rode to pay you 10%@@MK-Creator
damn, I was looking forward to seeing some ways of connecting to a phone.
I dont get the 24bit PCM export normalisation feature. I want 32Bit recorded and 32Bit exported, that is why I bought this Units. How to achive the promised 32Bit Audio Recording and Exporting and never have to see 24Bit Clipping Audio again ?
How do i set for Nikon z8?
Have gain mode set to the Camera-icon
@@user-uh7bw4jo4c Yeah but we haven't needed any. Just set to camera and works perfectly. Both on Z8 and Z9.
RODE should sell just recorders. I hardly ever use these microphone as wireless microphone anymore. The receiver is in the case all the time.
Then it would be much cheaper since luck of wireless function and enough.
May I use RODE Wireless PRO just from the box without any apps? Too old to learn modern apps.
Yes you can. Just plug the receiver into your camera and you are all set! However, if you need to download the internal audio file from the recorder (transmitter) then you need to have Rode Connect installed on your computer to access the files.
@@MK-Creator What a relief! Mats, THANK YOU SO MUCH for answering my question. I purchased the mic this morning but more I learned about it more I scared. I am so happy to use it simplest way - plug and play! Your tutorial the best! I will watch the video many times👍👍👍👍👍
there's no difference when mic is pointing to your chest, voice comes out of chest anyway. might be even better, I tested both don't see a difference.
And I thought you were German... based on your barely noticeable pronunciation. Though, with the Germans it is usually far more noticeable. But you never know!
H I have to do a European accent video one of this days! 😂
@@MK-Creator I'm all ears!
Im getting a strange interference in your sound. Artifacts.. smearing..
This version is having worst noise cancellation. Voice quality is good, but background noise is ruining my videos.
The Røde wireless pro doesn’t have any noice cancellation feature, and it doesn’t claim to have it. That’s why the stage before “Action” is “Quiet on set”.
Use a noice reduction feature in your post production.
If you are looking for a mic with great nice cancellation and great audio and great everything look at the Hollyland Lark Max. I have a video about that one. It was my go to before Rode wireless pro, and after the DJI mic.
Hello, interesting video, but I did not understand how to install the application on the PC or on the device. If you can make a more complete video. Thanks, Dan
What exactly do you mean with “install the application”? Are you referring to the Rode Connect app that you need to manage the settings of you wireless pro and where you can download the audio files?
