Hey! Started watching your videos a few weeks ago and am now determined to get out and do my first camp by the end of this year. Life goals! You make very informative and entertaining videos, inspiring some may say!!!

It’s awesome to see this series of micro adventures. To anyone concerned about safety, go out and try it. The vast majority of society are good people but when I’m out doing this sort of thing, perversely the dark now gives me comfort. Personally I never use white light, if you have to use a torch put on a red filter, avoid naked flames after dark or camp well off the beaten track. Life becomes so simple when out on the trail. Mileage, water and food. Just a simple pair of socks to pit on for sleep...it’s fantastic. Once home, the ability to turn on a tap, use lights, drive in a car are all appreciated more. These videos are an inspiration and I really hope many more feel Motivated to follow and even try the solo route.
I suppose I found you roughly a year ago, and so most of the videos I've seen have been quite a bit further on than this one. It's kind of amazing to see your evolution, and more than a little endearing to hear you worry a bit about putting yourself on the internet. I'm so glad you did. You've been a wonderful set of mini adventures for me, and it's been more helpful and given me more beautiful moments since I found you than I have any right to. Thanks again. You should be well proud of yourself.

I think we all agree, people should be outdoors with nauture more and more, get away from the systems and really enjoy being outside.... I love watching videos like this, I use to go camping and walking as a kid and more walking in the lake district as an adult. Being outside is when I most relaxed and happy and can feel my mind emptying... great videos Claire...

Lee sent me, he'd kick my ass if I didn't say go for it girl! Don't let the past camps put you off and don't worry about filming. Just remember to leave a game plan with loved ones before each trip so people know to check on you if you're stuck up the creek without a paddle! Then have fun and enjoy, bring the dog and your boy along as well, great activity to share and we all love seeing you together

Halloween is the day my Dad died (under care of Hospice, thankfully) of Prostate Cancer.. ..unfortunately the neighborhood (GlenAfton, Trenton, NJ a nice riverside community) was very cruel to us! Despite the 'Black Shawl' hanging on our door light.. It still bugs the hell out of me that people would 'Egg'/ litter, smash our pumpkin/ holiday decorations our home while we grieved inside... So sad!

Lovely video! Difficult to get the weight down with heavy tech, without spending out on an ultralight tent. In warmer weather you could use a tarp or bivy bag I guess.
have been doing this for 47 years never stop learning and have heard and seen some strange things in forests but outdoors there is no other way for me occasionally take my dogs but they bark and growl at the smallest thing or noise so prefer it alone loving your vids well done!

Hi Claire. I can definitely recommend a hill camp. With a bit of luck you will wake in the morning to a unobstructed view of a beautiful sun rise. Best of luck.
That fairy ring was incredible. I think the mushrooms have some kind of symbiosis with the other plants, sharing nutrients etc. I've never seen a fairy ring that big before.
That looked like it was probably a ring of Trooping Funnel from what I could make out on the video. I saw lots of these last month in similar woodland here in the middle of the UK. Never saw such a large and complete ring though, lovely to see

I take my hat off to you for braving that alone with all the crazy things going on in the world right now assuming you were. Love it! I have been out in the Chiltern AONB (which looks much like this), do get a bit nervous out there alone, not going to lie. It helps seeing others doing the same!

I'm glad I found your videos. The ring of mushrooms was interesting. Twice I've seen Irish hares in a ring as if they were having a board meeting. The last time I saw them I had just woken up from a sleep in my bivvy bag in beautiful west Fermanagh.
I am still buying my camping gear bought my rucksack tiny pot and pan and cup . I am 63 it’s something I really like to do got me thermstate mattress I am not great at hard services but will be worth hiking . Love the idea of listening to nature love this channel .
Fabulous, great drone footage too. If you love waking up in the woods you should try tarp and hammock camping. I can see your channel is going to be very popular, btw you really need a different rain cover for you rucksack haha, cheers.
Thanks :D yeh I think I might try it next summer, I imagine it's nice & comfy! The rain cover is the one that comes with the rucksack, but I don't think I've got it on properly there 😬 everything's in dry bags anyhow
Thanks, just do it, you'll be fine :) I love making the videos but I do get a bit of anxiety about putting them online. It took me a good few attempts to go through with it, I think I filmed about 3 different trips and never even made a video because I talked myself out of it haha. That was so cool. I did my first solo wild camp on 30th Oct. Lots went wrong. Air bed went down zip broke on my sleeping bag...forgot my pillow and phone...druids banging drums and screaming like banshees . But when they had gone the moon..owls and solitude was great for my soul. Wasnt scared at all. Planning my next one but now theres another lockdown so maybe have to wait a bit. Ohh my god, druids screaming hahaha! Poor you on your first try too! I've had air beds deflate, pillows deflate, drained all my batteries in the cold, I've tried cowboy camping and ended up sliding down a hill in my sleeping bag because of the dew 😂 it's all good fun, glad you loved it after the chaos subsided haha

Buy a local survey map.
Plan, scheme and gather your equipment. Practise in yourback yard etc.

I often just pick a random place on the map and then wing it obviously keep track of where u r going lol
Gather knowledge and learn first. Find the good and bad in the area so your prepared for surprises.
Dog walks are my way of discovery.

That fairy ring was incredible. I think the mushrooms have some kind of symbiosis with the other plants, sharing nutrients etc. I've never seen a fairy ring that big before.
Me neither! Actually it's the first I've ever seen, crazy it was!
That looked like it was probably a ring of Trooping Funnel from what I could make out on the video. I saw lots of these last month in similar woodland here in the middle of the UK. Never saw such a large and complete ring though, lovely to see
This is the first of your videos I’ve seen. Beautiful colours and very well edited. I take my hat off to you for braving that alone with all the crazy things going on in the world right now assuming you were. Love it! I have been out in the Chiltern AONB (which looks much like this), do get a bit nervous out there alone, not going to lie. It helps seeing others doing the same!

I'm glad I found your videos. The ring of mushrooms was interesting. Twice I've seen Irish hares in a ring as if they were having a board meeting. The last time I saw them I had just woken up from a sleep in my bivvy bag in beautiful west Fermanagh.
I am still buying my camping gear bought my rucksack tiny pot and pan and cup . I am 63 it’s something I really like to do got me thermstate mattress I am not great at hard services but will be worth hiking . Love the idea of listening to nature love this channel .

Fabulous, great drone footage too. If you love waking up in the woods you should try tarp and hammock camping. I can see your channel is going to be very popular, btw you really need a different rain cover for you rucksack haha, cheers.
Thanks :D yeh I think I might try it next summer, I imagine it's nice & comfy! The rain cover is the one that comes with the rucksack, but I don't think I've got it on properly there 😬 everything's in dry bags anyhow

Thanks, just do it, you'll be fine :) I love making the videos but I do get a bit of anxiety about putting them online. It took me a good few attempts to go through with it, I think I filmed about 3 different trips and never even made a video because I talked myself out of it haha. It's a good exercise in facing fears etc. All the best :D Claire
Have you tried the CNOC bags with the sawyer? They are really good! I still prefer to boil the water if I have the option.

That was so cool. I did my first solo wild camp on 30th Oct. Lots went wrong. Air bed went down zip broke on my sleeping bag...forgot my pillow and phone...druids banging drums and screaming like banshees . But when they had gone the moon..owls and solitude was great for my soul. Wasnt scared at all. Planning my next one but now theres another lockdown so maybe have to wait a bit. Ohh my god, druids screaming hahaha! Poor you on your first try too! I've had air beds deflate, pillows deflate, drained all my batteries in the cold, I've tried cowboy camping and ended up sliding down a hill in my sleeping bag because of the dew 😂 it's all good fun, glad you loved it after the chaos subsided haha
