Maldini considered as one of the best defenders, we still have Backenbaer, Baresi, Ramos etc. And Maldini is a defender and played in the best league in the world, best strikers in the world, and in Italy too. If Messi played all his career in EPL(best league rn) than people wouldn't question his abilities to perform under pressure and in different circumstances so much. And i think for an attacking player it's way harder to perform the same in different teams than for a defensive one, cuz attacking player have to interact with his teammates more and connection between them players is super important.

The playmaker is like the conductor of an orchestra, the striker is the first violin. Messi is both. The stat that shows best the value of a player is MOTM. Messi has 372 MOTMs, Nobody else has half of those. Messi is now highest rated player in the world, with the most MOTMs 8. Mbappe for example is rated 11th, (down from 4th) with 2 MOTMs. One of which was dubious.

Messi has now won an international trophy and he is the all time leading goalscorer not just for Argentina but in South America. To say he hasn't done it at international level is ridiculous.
The way I see it, there are 2 schools of thought among football fans: one that believes football is about magic and one that believes football is about glory. The former tend to have a greater appreciation for Messi and the latter for Ronaldo.

No the argument is that Messi has always kept in his comfort zone and never branched out of that. You go to a different league like for example the premier league is a different physicality level to the Spanish league and Ronaldo has experienced this not just that though you have to factor in learning the language and change in culture too. I think ronaldo is better because of these factors and he’s done it 4 different leagues. Remember as well messi for a long time has been the man at Barcelona that demands all the respect from the players around him. Maradona is hands down better than Messi talent wise its not even that close really. He was doing things Messi was doing but over 20 years earlier. Messi had the longevity but for impact and talent Maradona is alot better especially considering he played in much tougher conditions and harder opposition in the 80s and 90s especially in serie A which was the toughest league prob ever. Also Messi hasn't won 1 major trophy with Argentina whereas Maradona took a mediocre Argentina side to WC glory.
