Dear Harstem, I believe you can make BCs work, you just need to actually use them. They need to be going around pew-pewing stuff, only taking breaks for repairs, maybe even by their dedicated repair team nearby just outside of the enemy's vision (to reduce the fly-back time). Use ledges and walls, these stalkers can't blink everywhere. If you look at every single game you had there, these BCs were just sitting there doing nothing, nearly as if you were afraid of losing them. I shouldn't be coaching you on how exactly to use the BCs as you are the pro here. But, it is obvious even for me that you correctly didn't win any games against grandmasters when you tie up half of your army supply in units that do not partake in the battle. Just see your games for yourself.
He ends defending a lot, instead of having them move on the map. Typical Harstem being to careful. I also think he could have placed his tanks a bit better, so they could help him in the defense.
BCs are a very unique unit. All the tips in the comments are great for me, even if they are not much use to a Terran GM like Harstem. I've been on a BC kick myself lately. I have the most trouble using BCs against Protoss. I find Zerg the best matchup, as they have to build Corruptors to counter, which they really don't want to do. Terran is also good, as long as I don't let Vikings catch my BCs alone with Warp on cooldown. Protoss has too many of their own warp tricks to be able to use BC jump offensively. I've had success by saving the warp for escape (pref after Yamato), and using the move and fire ability to lead the enemy over my trail of Widow Mines.
A 287 second BC drop on the mineral line would have mopped that first match up real nice. You defend/ follow up with a few marines + 1 tank. If they go all-in; lift off your main. If he backs off, expand and build a second. If they are at home, build a second and send everything and you can still expand. It's the most aggressive BC cheese that isn't an all-in and it's so easy. :)
I think the only 2 major problems (plus a couple minor problems) Harstem had was that he spread his tanks out way too thinly and then ignored them after he took his 4th, at that point the tanks seiged between the 3rd and 4th were useless and could've helped a ton against the 1st attack on the 4th base. When he harassed with Marines, the protoss did a huge warp in just to stop it, I think that would've been a premiere chance to warp in 2 BCs into the opponent's other expos and pick off probes as a 2 pronged harass, the BCs kinda just sat around and did nothing all game. Finally, he was max supply with a few extra Supply Depots, I think it would've been more efficient to wall off with backline Bunkers + forward Engi Bays rather than Engi Bays + Supply Depots.
Hmm I know this is your off race and all... but you mostly had those BCs sitting around like paper weights; lets take that last set of fights; yamato unused, no repair during battles, hardly any repair inbetween battles. Just sitting around waiting to be blinked under by a bunch of stalkers, instead of always threatning somewhere from an angle the stalkers cant really get a proper attack surface. I think its a little early to say protoss is imba versus BC, is all im saying I guess.
I love playing battlecruisers, unfortunately my macro sucks. Despite this, I have really great success with using my battlecruisers if I keep them at home defending bases while I move out with other forces. keep saving them up till you have 5. 5 battlecruisers can snipe a command center with Yamata Cannon. Also keep in mind that if you notice at any time while using normal forces that your enemy has been pulled out of position, then Battlecruisers can be warped into your enemies mineral lines or used to snipe a base. Another good use for the battlecruiser is clearing turrets to land medivac forces. Bttlecruisers are great at defending bases but you have to pull like 5 scvs to fix them up while they defend the assault along with your bunkers and siege tanks. Battlecruisers can skirt cliffs and stay just in range of groups of marines and other forces. If you take your battlecruisers with your main force keep warp at the ready in case you need to flee or are attacked while out of position. I think you knew all this already but I hope that it helps. You are the best Harstem glhf
Its very probable im wrong, but it seemed to me you were very timid with bcs during defense. You attacked first with bio, then when most died you onlly started fighting with bcs. Also mass repaired bc during fight can really tank a lot.
Watch Ruff mass battlecruiser vs Protoss to see how it’s done. His defense is one of the best ever. 3 tanks behind beach planetary and mines. While BC pewpew stuffs and teleport back.
9:40 You could have repaired the living dog shit out of your battle cruisers' and held your ground. 42 seconds ÷ 8 scvs = 5.25 seconds to repair a battle cruiser to full health on fastest 42÷10 = 4.2 seconds enough to out dps those stalkers
I am inexperienced BUT on half of those fights you sacrificed all your bio to then fly in with your BCs. Wouldn't it be better if they went first as they have more health and are tankier and the marine were under them dealing infinite DPS?
Poor CattleBruisers, Harstem got Protossed haha. On a serious note, I don't get how Protoss can choose such an aggressive opener and be still economically ahead.
battlecruiser, tank, 4 -5 thor and ghost are awesome, not fight in open space aganst stalker fight close monutain or in building, thor protect aganst void and corruptor, with a few viking, good agaisnt tempest
Cheers Kevin! I always think you GG too fast when a game is not to your liking (but I am not a pro StarCraft 2 player so I may possibly be wrong... possibly). I think it will be a nice video if you go all out, no surrender, no prisoners, fight to the last unit/building. If you have a player on ladder you dislike I think you could go for it.
For full BC i used micro full Tempest.i win all times get out canon yamato .if BC+marines. Void, colossus ,stalker arcont, easy.Forever use upgrade esfere tempest for damage fortres
A prime example of how slow terran buildup (Orbitals, stim, combat shield, ...) gets abused by merrily expanding Protoss who have so little early game investment (Twighlight, cyber, blink and gateways which do not need 5 hours to build effing reactors). This is where salty terrans come from. Had protoss to convert nexi for 150 minerals to "chronoboost tech" and had protoss to research warpgate tech for every gateway for 50min 50 gas, there would be less of an incentive to be cheesy as f*** as protoss players. (2x orbital = 300minerals, Barracks + Reactor build time >> gateway build time, Stim + CS = 200 minerals 200 gas -> getting Terran operational is just too expensive)
Its not so easy. Blink is only great until stim and enough bio gets made, then its near useless, the dps of bio is to high. You can see Terrans killing with the first push Protoss so often, who didnt transition from blink fast enough. To really hold any serious bio you need splash and its also plenty of prereq. or research.
@@firestarter000001 My point was about the (designed) time line of an evolving game. Until terran is operational, it is either already dead (cheese P) or P is on 4 bases, 70 probes and 8 gas by the 8min mark, 1 or 2 splash techs, when finally Terran has their tier 1.5 tech together. Terran also has to go to great lengths to slow Zerg down in a TVZ and even that is sometimes impossible because of the tier 0 unit called "queen". The whole thing then usually just snowballs against T's favor. Unfortunately, google lost interest in starcraft, but my guess (my bet) would be, that if they trained TvP long enough (to a high enough level of skill), the P ai would win the majority of the games. so many players tried BCs in this matchup and almost nobody succeeded. Its just super cheese you can win in 1/10 games

Zerg best strategy defend the start and be offensive all the way to win.
Same for any games, offense most of the time will have advantage.
