Cody you are doing a great job getting ready for winter. You both should be very proud of all the work you have done to get to this point. Be safe and keep prepping.
To get to we’re you are now ..I’ve watched from the start …is a real credit to you both ..not a easy build either…I say well done ..mate ..from outback Western Australia…your getting freezing weather we’re getting record heat ..keep up the great work..
Looking good! Hang in there buddy! She will start feeling better soon. I know it’s tough doing a lot of the chores by yourself but it will be worth it when she gives you that beautiful baby!
I know its a comfort to know that the roof is all set for winter. Doesn't it feel good to be able to just take a breath, knowing you're not quite done, but so close you aren't in a panic anymore. It looks great! Hope Lori is feeling closer to human soon, and the little walk " out back" was neat. Also glad you don't have to get back up on that roof anytime soon. I hate heights!
You guys are amazing. I can't believe you did so much in one summer. And it looks fantastic. Hope you feel better soon Lori. I will keep watching you guys to see more amazing stuff. Hope your winter is a bit more relaxing. You are well set up.
Suggesting that you wear a face shield when using the cutoff wheel. I have seen them explode at high speed. Protect your face. Good job. I hate heights.
As always, this is a great video with lots of good footage. I was afraid you fell with the go-pro. You're doing a great job 😊. Stay safe and warm. Thank you for the update!
That was nice to bring us explpring with you. Felt like we were right there with ya. Especially when you pointed stuff out. I enjoyed the dog taging along too lol. That spot will be nice for a hunting blind. Exciting times ahead. God Bless you both- Diana
You got this Cody! While you were carrying the ridge caps up, my husband kept saying, don't drop it! 😊 Not a big deal with the short piece at the end. Good job! Lori, hope you're feeling better. ❤
Oh my that was the scariest video I’ve seen of your homestead. Cody, every time you went up & down that ladder, I was watching with bated breath. When the GoPro fell, my heart was thumping. You have to be careful young man. You have an expectant mum to look after 😳. Thank goodness the ridge capping is done. Maybe a winter project - make a rope ladder, with wooden rungs in between that goes all the way up & over the other side which you secure to the ground both sides. Safer to climb up? You’ll be going up there at least twice a year to clean the chimney. Thanks for the walk in the woods. Gave us an idea about your property. Good 10yr plan. Keep it up. God bless, Australian fan.
Hi guys! Cody you scared me yo death, when you dropped that camera i just knew you had fell off that ladder. You guys have done it before winter set in. Thank you for the beautiful over view of your property. You might need a dehydrater for all those blueberrys😅
I’m glad you got your ridge cap before everything is covered in snow. Chimney cleaning is going to be a bear up that high but you’re young, I’m sure you will get it done.
Just checking to see if you have a snow plow for the side by side and a snow blower. I have watched each video up to now and dont recall seing one.. Love your channel. Doing awesome ❤
Thanks for the virtual tour of your property. I use a cane, I could never walk. Hope Lori was able to hear you if forbid you had an issue being high up. Thanks. Best of luck continuing.
Nice you visit with us a bit Cody. Hope Laury🙏 is feeling better should soon.. I watch a Alaska video couple called Levi and Becas Alaska there expecting too only bit sooner December been up there just through the summer and prepping for there first winter there best of luck to you all . Wow now you're one step closer. Your camera appears to be ok. 👍 Looks like it's fixing to be cold sun going down
There are captions available now at 24 minutes after upload. TH-cam takes some time after upload to auto generate them. When you use all caps in your message, it’s like yelling.
Looks better without the roof covering stuck out the end! However, now there is nothing keeping the water off the end of the OSB. As I am sure you know OSB will grow when it gets wet, especially on the end of sheets
Wow love your land Yes Trail camera are wonderful I use them on my 1 acre now LOL raccoon s are a real problem at times and rats I for get how big is your land
TH-cam University is how to learn steel roofing. One good channel is RR Buildings. Kyle will teach you everything you need to know about steel roofing. Thanks for the video.
I see some staining on your chimney. Creosote from burning unseasoned wood which we sometimes have to do. One or preferably two years of aging in covered storage will eliminate most of that. However, when burning it open up your air inlet or crack the door every couple of days and let it roar for about twenty minutes or whatever then dampen it down and go back to normal use. This will burn out the accumulation of creosote before there is enough to become a real problem. It is a good practice to do this even with seasoned wood though you can do it less often. If you idle the stove and don't open it up it will make more and more then its chimney fire time. Not nice. Roars like a jet plane taking off and builds heat like you can't believe. That is where most wood stove fires start. At night when it is dark your single layer stove pipe going up to the ceiling will glow cherry red with the draft open. That is what you want for a limited time while you are monitoring it. Keeps from having an unexpected chimney fire which can really ruin your day. It is something that can be easily managed but will make you pay if you neglect it. The other choice is to climb up to the chimney and lower a brush through to clean the creosote manually when it gets any build up at all. Not a good choice if you have ice and snow. Metalbestos chimneys last less than ten years when burning unseasoned wood as the stainless liner will burn out over time. Even with seasoned wood it is a replaceable item as needed. Inspect twice a year. When you or friends are traveling through Canada it is a good time to buy Metalbestos as their fire ratings are much higher than the US's. This translates to a thicker metal liner which lasts longer. Really helps with chimney caps as they burn out every three or four years if they are US made. I assume you are anchoring your ladder when working alone? A piece of rebar bent like a candy cane and driven in makes a good anchor. Your A frame makes a pretty stable platform but you still don't want to go for any unplanned circus rides! Ask me how I know.
What do you have for venting on the roof. Did you caulk the roof cap. It is meant to be venting. If you put that chimney piece on last ? If you did , you have 1 lap opposite the rest. One end of it will let wind and possibly rain under it.😮
Check your settings under playback settings. Make sure it is set to whatever is highest number. Occasionally, with an update either to TH-cam app or your specific device, the settings can get set to a lower level. That happened to my little tablet (Kindle fire) once, and is an easy fix.
Cody do your wife a favour put a door on the out house for her and a window in there as its dark if you put a door on there you can make it from scrap timber there im sure she will love you for that your very good man i cant stand heights im watching you and feeling nauches when the camera went off i thought was you good job your great !!!
When your by yourself you have to think and move carefully or you could fall and get hurt easily.I been there many times in impossible situation all by my lonesome delivering building supplies in the middle of no where. No street signs or nothing except gps n in some places GPS doesnt even work like reservations or near any type of military base.
Maybe I missed it, and you did it, and I hate to be that guy who is in the comments saying what you should have done, so I apologize in advance but where your steel overlaps on your Ridge cap, a bead of silicone sandwiched between the steel will keep water from making it in.
It’s supposed to be 2’ higher than any part of the roof within 10’. With a metal roof, I don’t think they have anything to worry about since it’s at least a foot or so higher than the ridge cap.
Cody you are doing a great job getting ready for winter. You both should be very proud of all the work you have done to get to this point. Be safe and keep prepping.

At least there won't be any snow on that roof. LOL LOL LOL
Looking good! Hang in there buddy! She will start feeling better soon. I know it’s tough doing a lot of the chores by yourself but it will be worth it when she gives you that beautiful baby!
Whew! That was a wild ride. Glad we weren't killed or worse.
I know its a comfort to know that the roof is all set for winter. Doesn't it feel good to be able to just take a breath, knowing you're not quite done, but so close you aren't in a panic anymore. I can’t believe you’ll did all this building with her pregnant .. You are work monsters .
When did you get your tractor off the side of the road and onto your homestead??
Love your property. It's awesome, how many acres? And you both are doing a great job
I was wondering that too🌲
Congratulations! What do you guys do for health insurance in Alaska?
Looking ready for winter. Did you have anything on your game camera?
👍
How many acres do you guys have? Thank you for sharing.

Do you know what you are going to have yet. Please take care of yourself
🫐🫐🫐
Maybe I missed it, and you did it, and I hate to be that guy who is in the comments saying what you should have done, so I apologize in advance but where your steel overlaps on your Ridge cap, a bead of silicone sandwiched between the steel will keep water from making it in.
He did place something in between the steels
@@nanscott3362 I seen the foam underneath to keep bugs out but I'm talking about the top of the ridgecap. did he put something in there as well?
Nice catch. This had not been done. It is on the list to do in the spring, but it is to cold for the silicone currently.
And how much did you guys Give for that
What size is your Afram house
20’ wide
40’ long
Wow not much for 🎄 trees on ur property is there
Please just be careful climbing up and down 🙏.
I think your chimney stack is supposed to be about 6’ over your roof top
It’s supposed to be 2’ higher than any part of the roof within 10’. With a metal roof, I don’t think they have anything to worry about since it’s at least a foot or so higher than the ridge cap.
Great job Cody
