that was really interesting, I had no idea about that, sounds terrible for the Nepalese

Yeah, they are in a really tight spot. It even goes beyond just this but I only touched on one of the facets of the situation for simplicity's sake. It's not good at all for Nepalese or Mahayana buddhists (or the world, really) because this means the current Dalai Lama will be the last one as the future one will be "appointed" by the new Panchen Lama who was actually appointed by the Chinese government (the one that the real Dalai Lama has chosen is still missing.) There's a really good video about this on the China Uncensored TH-cam channel

You should travel to South Tibet and take stock of the situation there. South Tibet was invaded and annexed by India in 1951, four years after the British Raj has already left the subcontinent. South Tibet includes Tawang, birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama and home to a four hundred years old Tibetan monastery. In 1987 India named South Tibet to Arunachal and made it a state. Today Tibetans in occupied South Tibet is brutally suppressed and lives under a law called AFSPA (Armed Force Special Power Act). AFSPA gives the state the power to detain or kill anyone with impunity. It is a law meant to suppress dissents. It is imposed on area India deemed 'disturbed', such as Kashmir and South Tibet. Rape by Indians of Tibetan girls has been a festering problems for years and is emboldened by AFSPA because under AFSPA rape by jawans is not recognized as a crime. Tibetans in South Tibet are voiceless because their plight does not fit the standard narrative spilled out by the MSM nonsense.
India also invaded and annexed the independent Himalayan Buddhist kingdom of Sikkim in 1975. After the invasion the Sikkim king was kept under house arrest for the rest of his life. His American wife Queen Hope Cooke managed to get back to the state before the Indian army moved in. Hope Cooke is still alive and lives in New York. Here is a clip of their wedding during happier times before their country was gobbled up by India.

The traditional seat of the Karmapa (the highest Rinpoche of an religious order several hundred years older than the Dalai Lama Gelupa sect) is in a monastery in Gangtok, Sikkim. And for this reason because of the sensitivity of how Sikkim came under India rule India heavily meddles in the affairs of the Karmapa and at one time even ransacked his office causing huge demonstration by the Tibetans against the Indian government.
If you are confused or want to know more please let me know. Thanks for reading.

I think it's much easier to understand 'news' that way, a straight forward explanation. I agree that would be a different type of thing to film for me too!
