      Michelle Staunton,
What you just said is not what you think. That's what your religion has taught you. You should always doubt what you have been taught to believe.

Tun Aung Kyaw that is very nice to hear. i helped my family all my life but, taking care of my little sister, helped my older sister caring her bastard daughter for how many years, helped my bed ridden parents for how many years, i lost my job because of that. when iur cousins planned to kill my father i was there to his aid, when my cousins try to do something bad to my mom i went home to give her aid. my uncles and aunts took side to our bad cousins even my siblings believe what the lies my cousins tell. my sister in-law try to destroy me thru my applying a job and tell lies about me. my older siblings believed her lies. is this the fruit i will harvest for helping my family? God loves to watch not help

Thank you for saying that. I'm a Tibetan and I definitely don't hate Chinese people. Tibetan people don't hate Chinese people, why should we? Your food, movies and talent shows we love them. We just don't like your government that's all. I know early during Chinese invasion we were casted as barbarians to mainland Chinese people. Still today mainland Chinese look down on us. We're same human beings.

Evan Carmichael, Tibetan as China, just like American Indian as USA..... Oops, they are different, becase I forgot that your ancestor (if you are an American) had killed all the American Indians who wanted to become an independent nation from USA, but we improved Tibetan's life in Tibetan, Hahaha.................(Before accuse of aggression, please remember, your ancestor killed all the American Indians who wanted to become an independent nation from USA, all, and the ways to kill them included quilts with smallpox..........)
As a Chinese, I am not mad, too. I just surprised at your (especially USA) double standard, and you are not shamed on Thanksgiving Day "at all", and support Tibetan independence "at the same time". Maybe we have different points on "moral". That it is.

Life has a funny irony to it does it not..
Learn medicine to help others, only to find most health answers lie within our own mind!
      He has helped me too..
Modern medicine is so sterile and robotic.. although it has amazing advancements, western civilization is the least healthy of all.
We must ask “what are we forgetting?”

"Be Calm" is my favorite. Counting and Breathing while irritated. The Reptilian brain does not know counting, by doing so during crisis or irritation mental processing shifts from reptilian (fight-flight-freeze) to upper brain (and per-frontal cortex).
"Have compassion" is another favorite. Humans have the ability to extend compassion to one-self and others. This leaves less regrets, which is important for happy life. Wanting ourselves to be happy extends for other to be happy and vice-versa.
"Don't care what other say". Some people could praise too much and others criticize. Reminding ourselves of those two, helps us balance during those situations.

When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

All points are great! but my personal favorite is the 5th one, extending compassion even to enemies or someone who hurt you. showing compassion to friends and family is easy which even animals have the ability. Only humans can think due to our wonderful brain which can be trained to extend our compassion.

All ten of the rules not only resonates with me, but I have been consciously choosing to live according to these rules, step by step, but I choose to highlight #2: "Don't care what others say" as my favorite. I wasted so much of my life worrying about others' opinions of me, to the extent that I based my own sense of self-worth on those external opinions. It really was so silly, but at the same time, it was just the way I was programmed from childhood. I am so grateful I have been able to delete that program from my subconscious. Thank you, Evan and Dalai lama, for everything you have ever done and still do, for the betterment of humanity.

You are simply the clever parasites who are making money on the lost people. Actually you know nothing, you are just making the compilations that is packed into something that can be sold. it is terribly easy to make money on the stupidity, but, You DO know it. The "true guys" are not selling, because guy who knows has completely different attitude to money as you and your-like manipulators have.

It's funny how the crowd laughed when DALAI LAMA said that when you practice decade by decade you'll see improvement. It just said so much about the mentality of the society we live in. Instant information, coffee, food, electricity, internet etc and society sort of assumes that they are entitled to instant success as well. Me being an artist, I know it takes years of daily practice and I've been practicing 15 years to become good, and there is still infinitely more to learn.WHATEVER you do most time it really takes decades to become good. There's nothing funny about it.

Yes. I look over decade's of trying. Better to keep at it that not walk the path. Slowly we grow, heart, mind, spirit, we grow.

We tend to take for granted what we don't understand, we like to think our lives are better due to instant gratification but as A person who was addicted to video games in the end I felt as if I had achieved nothing and it plagued me for a long time.

I have lived a compassionate life, and I have the scars to prove it. Kind people get abused, but we know how to forgive. I love Buddhism. It really does allow me to be happy. The Dali Lama is a very extraordinary person. I am amazed at his life.

Well yes it would appear so, by default. But then some would just post purely negative material and some would just 'like' that. We need negativity so we know what it looks like, or one would be a blind sheep. The strength is knowing how negative/evil you can be, and choosing not to.
