This is strangely addicting. Can't get enough of it. The arrangement is sick of course. But also the video itself. The way you guys stand there, look at each other, move, get up, sit down, nod your heads, etc.. A pleasure to watch and listen.
Thank you! It's fun having video recordings of the session so we can relive our silent interaction with each other. It's hard to remember those kind of moments which it's just an audio recording.
I never had an NES. Several times, I played Metroid all night instead of sleeping when I stayed over at my friend Justin's house. I didn't like it that much. But this music transports me...
I never thought jazz would work with Metroid, but this is pure fire. Thank you guys so much for recreating these timeless themes. Also, good lord the nostalgia. What is it about his game and this franchise? Metroid takes me to places that no other video game franchise has ever taken me. Maybe it's because I grew up on the original NES game and exploring this alien planet at the ages of 5, 6, and 7 stayed with me forever in both music and imagery. It was a creepy freaking game for its time, yet I always wanted to keep exploring and go further and further into the depths of the labyrinth that was Zebes.
Having spent hours as a kid playing Metroid and hearing the Brinstar theme looping over and over, it's seeped into my musical subconscious in ways I'll probably never fully understand. I think my 8-year-old self could really have benefitted from hearing some of these solos too. Great work-sounds beautiful!
You know if I never played Metroid I would think this may actually be a Frank Zappa tune. Really amazing fusion of videogame music and Jazz. Fantastic work!
I've listened to this so many times over the past couple months.. seriously awesome audio quality (and playing of course!). People owe it to themselves to listen to this, not just on a quality pair of headphones, but if you have the means, play it on a high end sound system. The quality of this is absolutely insane! My speakers (TRYING NOT TO BRAG) are Dynaudio Confidence and honestly I am still blown away by the quality of everything here! The other tracks are equally as impressive and it's been a daily occurrence for me watching these videos. Thanks for all the hard work and quality love and care put into these! So many of us fans really appreciate being able to enjoy your gifts, so thanks for sharing!
Guys, this is freaking amazing! I really enjoyed Title Theme, but listening to Brinstar was a mind blowing experience. Thanks so much for doing what you're doing.
Thanks a bunch for your long time support of this project, PeyCa! Performing Brinstar with horns has always been on my bucket list. Mission accomplished!
Wowwwwwww! 😍 I love the cart on the music stand just in case the arrangement needs double-checking; also, nailed the time change - and Brinstar improv is legit AF!! 😳😍
First off, I LOVE your avatar! We had fun placing that cartridge for this video. The chart was a 4 pager, so it got thrown on the ground after finishing the Title Theme. This one was a lot of fun to perform!
I want this music in every hotel lobby and fancy restaurant worldwide! Also I agree with Ripplin, I would totally buy your CD or .flac copies of your music
So on the Keyboard solo, where the guy is jamming out on the C chords, for some reason, reminds me of Night Flight stage from Spyro the Dragon. Nostalgia triggered by Nostalgia.
Contraband Reloaded definitely! I'm digging every tune, I listen to it with my kiddos, too, they like it. Anyway, I'll be picking it up shortly. Do you have it in a lossless format?
soooo good. watched all your vids. very nostalgic for the games and music. I could write a huge list of nes songs id like you guys to play but for know i'll just say check out and consider wizard and warriors II menu song. Has a lot of different layers to it and is complex for a nes song. It came to mind after listing to you guys.
Thank you so much, Joseph! That's a great recommendation! There's a lot going on with the menu tune. I'll add it to our list of songs to investigate for a future arrangement. Please feel free to send more song recommendations to us: contrabandreloaded@gmail.com
Thanks Jose! The digital album is available on our BandCamp page right now if you're interested. Once the physical album is out we'll be sharing the other distribution site links (e.g., iTunes).
hope you get blessed by the algorithm
(I can not speak English.)
Your performance is very wonderful.
Please keep doing a good job. I will cheer you.
Yet that was perfect and it's all good and fr, you got a point tho
So little hair on heads, so much talent!
Its a crime that this gem has far far less views 😑
This is so damn good. It's like Return to Forever jamming out one of the most iconic video game tunes of all time. Bravo
This has been an unexpected treat... a search for Metroid’s dark and broody theme comes up with some lively jazz? Great work.
Thanks a bunch, Ben! Glad you enjoyed it.
So much good vibes with this show. This was a huge discovery to find this channel on youtube
Thank you very much, Bruno!
My thoughts exactly, dude

This made my week
I discovered this 20 minutes ago, and I already ordered their CD. Too good to let go. Keyboardist is KILLING IT

@@joserafaelsamano4942Highly underrated comment.
@@KermodeBear glad someone got it.
well.... this brought me back and now i have to play it again
The quality of the performance is obvious, but I also love how well it’s recorded. It’s got natural dynamics, and isn’t all compressed to crap.
God dang I got goose bumps. I always loved how rad the very first note goes off in the intro

I guess the original metroid score was composed thinking of the future covers 😅btw I still own a Nintendo NES in working condition.
I don't think I've ever seen a drummer sight read before, that's an incredible skill
So cool how you swung the standard march adventure feel!
Metroid as a jazz song? Dope!

Man I’ve listened to this no less than 30 times. Please make more when you can, these are amazing!
Well met, gentlemen!

That would be awesome to be played in hotel lobby's and fancy restaurants. Not sure if the music is relaxing enough, but it sure would be cool!
1:42 I think I've played that intro over 100 times by now. It's smooth as all hell.
Hue hue literally and figuratively good vibes 😎😁
HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! How have I not discovered you sooner!
Thanks Art! Glad you enjoyed it. We're planning on going back into the studio soon. Finalizing the next batch of arrangements.
Way too good. And proves how well crafted certain video game musics can be.
out of all the talented people doing vg remixes, this is amongst the absolute best. i mean it, you guys are making history
I was waiting for this!!!! Excellent!!!!

David Marriott, Jr.: the cause of much stank face the world over! It's not a stretch to say that this track helped get me through COVID.
absolutely brilliant
Thank you so much for listening and commenting, Brandon!

I can totally hear the resemblance to the Night Flight theme. I don't imagine that was planned, but maybe subconscious? Thanks for listening/watching!
Amazing!
Gareth Wynn Thanks Gareth!
You guys are excellent, keep up the great work!
Thanks for listening, Mattias!

Not a bad suggestion, but I think the Clouds/Caves/Trees theme is more... I dunno, "jazzy."
Aw, yis!
LOL! :)
Excellent as always! :) Really wish I could get a physical CD of the new album to go with my first one. Any plans for that?
Ripplin Thank you! The physical album will be available within the next 30 days.
Good to hear. First day purchase! :)
I'm so looking forward for this. Is there any purchased version for online services like Apple Music or Spotify?
Thanks Jose! The digital album is available on our BandCamp page right now if you're interested. Once the physical album is out we'll be sharing the other distribution site links (e.g., iTunes).
I feel like the drummer is underappreciated.
absolutely no love for the bass player
They usually are.
is it me, or does someone hit a bad note right on 3:21
Ed Edd and Eddy going to space to beat mother brain xD
00:58! booo! Kraig's Lair or go home!
They have a rendition of Kraid's lair in another video.
trombone player ruined it
